That was only the beginning, Michigan Football fans over Ohio State. I was in that stadium, despite "Bo" Schembechlers rejection of me. But I sure as Hell owned Brutus, only until 9-11. Henson!!!
I'm from Steubenville and watched Ricky play Big Red in back-to-back Ohio Division II State Final games in 1987 and 1988 when he played for Buchtel. He was one of the best high school running backs I have ever seen. I'll never forget his #12 for the Griffs. He and Robert Smith were the the two best backs in Ohio. He turned me into a Michigan fan, as rooting against him wasn't as much fun as rooting for him. lol Your coach was a great, great player.
Huge Wolverines fan here, my first game at The Big House was October 23rd,1993. It was Homecoming against Illinois. Illinois had a 17 game losing streak against Michigan at The Big House and with about a minute left, Simon Rice hit Ricky Powers just right, causing a fumble. Illinois recovered the ball and on a 4th and long, Illinois scored. Final score 24-21. This game made a top 10 list on BTN, best Big Ten games of all time.
This began my domination of Ohio State until 9-11 combined with Tressel. "Bo" did not like the way that I coached, what I said, or whatever I did. But he knew I was honest. And I owned Ohio State for 10 years...not just by 3 points, or a cloud of dust.
God bless you Wolverine Historian.
