Yes, But with the game that counted they lost to LSU in the BCS national championship game. 1-1-1 record against LSU. And OSU also has a losing record to all other major SEC teams.
I know the SEC doesnt control it but as structered with the BCS , to prove the true national championship it needs to change. Long ago it was a reward for us to go south or west for winning the Big Ten and treated it like a vacation. Us midwestern boys would never dream of going to California or South or if we did it was once in a childhood. Now with airfare being so cheap its not so much of a challenge. So lets make it fair and bring one BCS game up here and yes it will fill.
also Pete Carrol USC's coach served under Ohio State's program Under Earle Bruce he later became the Trojans head coach in 2000.Bob Stoops Oklahoma's coach is from Ohio I could go on and on but just to put thing in perspective 15 of the last 22 teams that played in the national championship had head coaches who were either from Ohio or came out of Ohio States coaching system. I could go to the NFL and name coaches from Ohio but you probably couldn't handle it so I'll stop there
Bobby Bowden made a fool out of Ohio State Football. Fact is when your in a conference who for many years hid in the Rose Bowl we can only count OSU's 2-10 bowl record against the SEC. How many of those loses were their Ohio Coaches? Why did it take so long for those Ohio coaches that a cloud of dust and 3 yards offense could not beat Southern speed and athleticism?
I really have to give it to John Coop. here. I couldn't stand that guy as a coach...he just couldn't pull out the big wins. But this time, he looked like a genius! Go Bucks!
regardless of what has happened with the Buckeyes people should still show a little respect. They didn't put the football hall of fame in Ohio for nothing.this state has done so much for the game it would be a sin to place it somewhere else. All the buckeyes are going to do is recruit faster players on the line and they will play with SEC teams because that's where they were getting beat.you actually think they don't see what the SEC is doing! everyone sees that's why they are making changes
I dont want a big playoff.. I just want it spread out. The Rose Bowl is a tradition and want to still play there as you in the Sugar Bowl. We just have to live with the traveling and still reward these kids with that trip. But as far as the other minor bowls spread it out. Let them play out the Bowls and and the top two from there play again in the BCS championship game. If they cant figure out the top two after the bowl games im lost. I am a traditionalist and want the best of both worlds.
....and this was the last time any SEC ventured north to Ohio Stadium. We have Tennessee (the only SEC team with balls to play a decent OOC opponent) in 2018/19 I believe, but come on. The SEC is just too afraid to travel north of the mason-dixon. GO BUCKS!
i love watching these minimally corporate games. just a different feel to football back then. field lined with fans, celebrating with the team. now they cart out 100 uniformed police officers to line the field.
Its not about stadium size, its about filling the stadium. While your point that people from the south would like to see a white christmas is a good point, because i myself would love to experience real snow, its not good enough of one obviously for the businesses who make the decisions as to where the bowls are located. You act as if the SEC controls it. Also, you must remember that the majority of sec OOC games are scheduled at the beginning of the year, so its very unlikely to go up in nov.
ourhonordefend said: Dog on John Cooper all you want, but he has more victories over an SEC school than Jim Tressel. In this classic, the Buckeyes, under first year head coach John Cooper, stage an impossible rally to best the #6 ranked undefeated LSU Tigers. Before that point, the Tigers had won 14 straight road games. What got him fired was his 2-11-1 record against Michigan
How nice of LSU to heave an incomplete pass with 1:40 left and the Buckeyes out of timeouts. "Breakdown in communication," nothing, what was with that playcall??
well what I find interesting is that all three head coaches of the SEC's top 3 teams that won titles have Ohio ties. Urban Meyer and Les Miles are from Ohio. Nick Saban Alabama's coach got his first head coaching job in Ohio. Both Meyer and Saban came out of the Buckeye's coaching system. Bo Pelini was the defensive coordinator for LSU's championship team in 08 and he's from Ohio and came out of the buckeyes coaching system...seems like the SEC loves coaches from Ohio.. do your research its true
I like Tressel but he was absolutely dogged by out of conference opponents, especially the SEC, not trying to troll but we had a few times where the ball bounced our way in that 2002 Championship game, Miami wins that 9/10 times. He also benefited from talent rich Ohio while other Big 10 recruiting was sub par. We cruised through the Big 10 cause of superior talent then got our asses whooped everytime we played an elite out of conference team. Urban is easily the greatest coach in Ohio State history, I just don't understand how people compare the two. He upped the program from a very good program to an elite program and also raised the recruiting level of the Big 10 by taking a more national approach.
Who can forget when Urban took his Florida Gators and beat Ohio State. With his SEC experience Urban knew Ohio State could not compete against the SEC unless Ohio State had at least 30% of it's roster coming from the South with special attention payed to Texas players. Enough said about regional pride. LSU, Alabama etc. have regional pride and always have 90% or more of their players coming from the South. Ohio State had to lose their regional pride if they were ever expected compete against the SEC.
It has everything to do with the creation of football. You wouldnt even believe what it is like here in Columbus in the fall. We live OSU. Remember we dont have pro sports here except for the hockey team. You would get the same thing in Lincoln Nebraska. All I am saying if you want a true national champion which the BCS is trying to achieve spread it out. They say home field is worth three points so if thats the case we would have at LEAST two more national championships.
If a team is playing 500 to a thousand miles from their home stadium they have no home advantage whether the game is played in the North or South. Usually Ohio State has the advantage because they travel with a larger fan base. Ohio States problem is when they don't have at least 30% of their roster coming from the South and can't match up SEC speed and talent. The last 3 beat downs Clemson (ACC) beat Ohio State i'll bet Ohio State had a larger fan base at the game. Tell you what. Next time Ohio State plays a top SEC team lets let only mid-west players play for the Bucks and only let Southern players play for the top SEC team. Guess What. Ohio State looses 99% of the time. Have Ohio State fans any regional pride? Why do they root for the Bucks when so many of their players are from the South?
Louisiana has more culture than ohio could ever hope for. How can a program with the mascot of a TYPE OF NUT put down anyone else, what a laughing stock!
HUH? Lets see...Eight Presidents, the man who invented the light bulb, the three greatest union generals in Grant, Sheridan, Sherman, the men who invented the airplane, the first man to orbit the earth, the first to walk on the moon and so many others. What do you have down there? Justin Wilson?
Ohio became a state in 1803..the Louisiana Purchase was 1803. The majority of Ohians were Pennsylvania Dutch and later German immigrants and Louisiana was French. Dont go saying we dont have culture here. As far as the convention I am sure its to help the rebuilding effort due to Katrina in which we helped. Dont go ripping the people that has been helping you. Oh, the football hall of hame is here for a reason.
And of those "5 states that feed directly into the SEC", you compete with ACC schools and Big 12 schools for recruits. If the ACC or Big 12 start winning championships, kiss your SEC recruiting dominance goodbye... they'll be in the SEC's backyard taking their talent. Ohio only really has ONE SCHOOL that it can channel talent to (even though all of Michigan's best players are from Ohio). As for top coaching and facilities.... NOBODY has better facilities than Ohio State, few have a better coach

I remember they tied with LSU in 1987 in Baton rouge.
Yes, But with the game that counted they lost to LSU in the BCS national championship game. 1-1-1 record against LSU. And OSU also has a losing record to all other major SEC teams.
Ohio State's offense was terrible in 07.They were lucky 😳 to get a 13-13 tie on the road.
i miss the old uniforms
We're coming back this year believe Ohio State believe
my dad played this game, on defense. #95, John Kacherski. Pause at 2:56, he's on the right.
are you cade?
Before instant replay. That last touchdown he didn't have possession of the ball. I was 4 when this game was played. I'm 36 now
Bo/Mark Pelini was a captain this team? Starter! Husker Pride for our coach!
Why did I click on an OSU win!
LSU fans will always remember the name Bobby Olive.
@takeurlumps actually the last sec team came north and that was vanderbilt in 06 when they faced northwestern.
greg Frye really was a good QB.
Minnesota come back win, 33 to 3 at half time.
I really have to give it to John Coop. here. I couldn't stand that guy as a coach...he just couldn't pull out the big wins. But this time, he looked like a genius! Go Bucks!
2:20 Those high-top hair do's are making a come back - I'm seeing dudes in the NFL with them.
@AppleHacks11 thats awesome dude
regardless of what has happened with the Buckeyes people should still show a little respect.
I thought the Buckeyes had never beat the SEC before that Arkansas game... this is clearly a win.
In fairness, Alabama has visits upcoming to both Penn State and Michigan State.
ourhonordefend said: Dog on John Cooper all you want, but he has more victories over an SEC school than Jim Tressel. In this classic, the Buckeyes, under first year head coach John Cooper, stage an impossible rally to best the #6 ranked undefeated LSU Tigers. Before that point, the Tigers had won 14 straight road games.
What got him fired was his 2-11-1 record against Michigan
I think the year b4 they played to a 13-13 tie in Baton Rouge
The Buckeyes have a winning record in BCS games. Thanks for asking.
And have won 2 national championships in the last 31 years.
@RedArmada ur mistaken my friend. ohio state is 8-11-1 against the SEC.. and the big ten is 109-83-16 vs sec teams with 10 more national titles. :)
cocopelad I think OSU was 2-10 from 1990 to 2008 in SEC games.
@@cumulus1234 Ohio State is 0-4 against the ACC's Clemson. Combined against the ACC.s FSU & Clemson 0-7 and 0-6 against the state of South Carolina.
How nice of LSU to heave an incomplete pass with 1:40 left and the Buckeyes out of timeouts. "Breakdown in communication," nothing, what was with that playcall??
A young Zooker coaching for Oh St.
well what I find interesting is that all three head coaches of the SEC's top 3 teams that won titles have Ohio ties.
Dont remember Bo Pelini ever coaching at Ohio State but he was a defensive back and went by Mark in those days .
Saban coached with the Browns under Belichick.
Ohio State had to lose their regional pride if they were ever expected compete against the SEC.
it was 2007, and that was a rebuilding year
It has everything to do with the creation of football.
Now do the 2007 title game.
Louisiana has more culture than ohio could ever hope for. How can a program with the mascot of a TYPE OF NUT put down anyone else, what a laughing stock!
What was OSU's QB stats for this game?
Is that Lee Corso doing color commentary?
@RedArmada actually were 1-9 in bowl games against the SEC
0-4 against Clemson.
Is that Ken Squire?
Actually that was after the 1996 season.
The fact is, most SEC schools really do lack academic prestige. A higher graduation rate doesn't necessarily prove that it is a good school.
No, you don't have to "down it there" - a kickoff is a touchback as soon as the football lands in the end zone.
not in the last what... 5 years? what?
GO BUCKS!
2006.
4-6-1 that year but a huge, sweet win. What did Michigan have during its dark season? Nothing. LOL
The 1st of 4 consecutive wins over OSU, that’s what. That Cooper bum should have been fired after 1991. 2-10-1. Good God.
This was Ohio State's only win against an SEC team between 1935 and 2010.
John Campanelli up until 1975 OSU had a winning record against SEC teams , now it is 9-12-1, but 3-9 in bowl games.
All I can say is Ohio, thank you for Joe Burreaux
Never understood why Meyer couldn't adjust his game plan to Burrow (that's how we spell it in Ohio, lol). Kid was NFL ready 3 years ago.
@@davidheilman1928 It took an SEC team to develop him. His Heisman trophy picture will be with him wearing a SEC jersey.
@@davidheilman1928 Yes Urban Meyer and his Florida Gators developed Tebow.
@@nedstewart1 Burrow's pic should be with LSU. I still think he was the most NFL ready QB OSU had 3 years ago, and they should have stuck with him. Our loss is LSU's gain.
