New Competition Optic - Romeo 3 Max Pro
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- The Romeo 3 Max Pro is a new optic being offered by Sig Sauer - unlike the old ROmeo 3 Max which was an RTS footprint - this is a Deltapoint Pro footprint that will fit on most of Sig's optic cut pistols and anything else cut for it. The price will be $699 and it will be available in 3 and 8 MOA versions.

Design Validation Period is a very polite way of calling customers beta testers.
While the RMR footprint is more common, the DPP footprint is superior for battery size and emitter placement.
I just wish we could standardize on one footprint. Plus maybe one rail type for enclosed optics.
from my lips to gods ears - we'll have two within 5 years - and it will be RMS and DPP - RMS for skinny guns DPP for regular guns. Look at Vortex and what they're doing.
@@TheHumbleMarksman you think dpp is gona dethrone the rmr footprint?
Totally agree, so glad to see the new offerings with DPP footprint.
@@TheHumbleMarksman Wow Vortex and Sig taking on Trijicon and Holosun and you are going against the RMR footprint. I have heard positive talk of the DPP footprint recently for battery consideration where was this talk way back? I don't honestly care I picked up a Vortex XL (it looks good, but a broke a screw on my optic plate at sub 15 inch pounds of torque so getting that POS extracted now) recently to check out the new hotness, but the SRO/507comp are really good not sure it will be significantly better but 8 moa dot is pretty awesome! Hoping to not have to utilize the Vortex warranty but willing to risk beta testing because of that reputation.
@@Jimmykid3 US military standardized it instead of the RMR footprint on the M17/M18.
Gunmakers are there to make guns and parts that people will want to buy and use, the more the merrier. Competition shooters' goal is to die of old age while having lots of young friends and enjoying great shooting memories on the way. I think this optic will help both sides achieve their respective objectives! Thanks for this review as always.
It’s an awesome sight
Been very happy with my Gen 2 flat button R3Max optics on my P320 Max slides . Prefer it to the SRO. I’ll be adding these new versions to my Pro cut slides eventually replacing the R1Pro’s.
Looks like a blend of a c-more and SRO. Pretty rad!
Accurate
Sad to see 6 MOA get tossed out. His explanation doesn't make a lot of sense. 3 cranked up to a sorta 5 might be crisp for him but to those with astigmatism or in certain lighting, wont it just turn into bloom/star burst mess? Just run a 6 at the right brightness and its always crisp. No mention of why 8 MOA as well.
I'm really psyched for this dot. I miss my 320 Max sometimes, so this will be replacing a few of my DPP's for sure.
yeah it's really expensive but it's gorgeous - it was probably my second favorite thing at the event.
@@TheHumbleMarksman$600-$700?
Good video and info, man. 👍🏻
Thanks! 👍
Very nice. BIG LENS
Really neat optic. Thanks for the share!!
He said it's not for smashing against barricades or drop but it's for "competition". Idk about them, but in the 3 gun and 2 gun matches I've been through, our guns can get pretty abused, so to hear that it can't take abuse sort of crosses it off the list for most serious competition shooters.
Well crap. Waiting on the RTS 3 but I might have to rethink that.
Was Mason Lane at this sig event? I'm assuming not as he's participating at CO Nats right?
Yes he was there - Max and Mason were going
Thanks for the videos on this sight - please use your substantial clout to get them to give us a decent cover with this expensive optic. The lousy cover they provide is so badly fitted that they are going to be lost the first time at the range. So much for saving battery life!
Keep up the good work!
I sent them your comment
@@TheHumbleMarksman Thanks. Update, besides the cover - the dot is dead. Maybe 500 rounds riding on a 320 Pro slide using ammo at approximately a power factor of 115.
@@jamiekallner9977that’s weird - mine has over 1k on the SXG slide
I hate the dpp footprint but i understand the screws being closer to the center is better for milling guns with skinny slides like the shadow2.
* most guns that aren’t Glocks
3moa. The preferred dot size of the gods.
yeah - all the false ones.
It’s an optic meant for the competition market but, they only durability tested it to 5k rounds?
SIg donts dont live past that lmao
Will you be doing a review of this now that it's finally available to purchase?
Probably
I'm a little disappointed that they were so quick to disclaim that it's not a particularly durable optic. I was hoping it would be a significantly stronger optic than the SRO since the larger footprint eliminates the window overhang. That said, I still quite like it.
I think he kind of has to because large strikes to the hood will break a thing like that.
They wanted the thin bezel. You can't have both.
It’s a huge window with a somewhat thin bezel.
Did you want him to say you could use it as a hammer?
@@Kyrii_Hantzinikolas actually, I wanted him to say "because the DPP footprint is larger than the RMR footprint, we didn't have to cantilever the lens over the front, which makes the thin bezel more rigid and therefore more durable than the SRO when it comes to impacts."
The big question: When will the Romeo 3 Max Pro hit the streets for consumer purchase? It's Sept 21st, 2024 today.
Been waiting on this to be announced. Thanks David!!
When is the release date?
Another video mentioned later in July
Thanks for the video keep it up fine sir! If this was mentioned in the video i missed it, I see it in the comments so just confirming, is this a fully USA made optic? Production in Oregon with sourced parts correct? Any idea what range of pricing (I'm guessing 6-8 hundy but hope I'm way high...)?
$699 with parts from NATO allied nations - assembled in Oregon
@@TheHumbleMarksman Hot damn assembled in USA (Oregon) is good and allies for sourcing is damn solid! Is that for the new romeo x enclosed as well with all USA assembled with NATO ally sourced components?
I know he doesnt recommend, but im sure it can some abuse before failing. Definitely a nice sro alternative.
He said they validated over 5k rounds!? And across multiple iterations. That is NOT a significant number of rounds considering their target audience may be shooting that per month. This why ppl say SIG uses its customers as beta testers
Yeah I was hoping for a higher number - still optimistic as it’s the same guts effectively as the Romeo X and RM 17 which are bullet proof - but we’ll see soon I guess.
@@TheHumbleMarksman their engineers are much smarter than I am, so it'll most likely be fine, but I'd rather him have just kept the round count to himself if it was only 5k. Lol
@@Auggie_93 yeah I talked to him at the dinner the night before - in fairness to him it was +P ammo they shot so 5k is a lot of that - but this is the same guy over the RM17 and Romeo X projects - they got their Romeo X's on 10mm guns and they held up. This particular product was kind of added to the program of SIG Next almost as a game time decision. At the event I shot it on 3 different guns - the SXG, the P226 XFive Reserve and an X Carry.
Hopefully its more durable than the original 3max, mine feels like a toy, buttons are trash and got it a bit wet and it went crazy. Last sig dot ill buy. I like my SRO and the few 507 comps I have much better
This is not - at all - a similar version to the old one - this is built in Oregon the old one was Japanese.
@@TheHumbleMarksman good to hear!!! The buttons and adjustment screws look alot better for sure
check with sig and see if they will warranty it. I had one with the wonky buttons and they sent me a new one and said to keep the old one, which still worked.. just a little tough to use the buttons. I just slapped it on another gun and keep it on all the time
i'm not sure if you ever said this before but from this video it sounds like you like the 6moa dot why so vs the others
Look at his channel, search for dot size with the loupe.
If you stick most GOOD pistols in a Ransom rest they'll probably deliver 6 - 8 moa groups. A 2 moa dot just provides the illusion of better accuracy.
Most handguns cannot shoot 2 moa. When shooting fast you can perceive where a larger dot is on target more accurately and quickly than a finer dot. There is not added accuracy from fine dots in most situations.
@@funkla65
No illusion, just not needed or exploitable by shooters and setups cause they have different goals. There is more than one game to play.
If you're interested:
20 rounds in roughly 2'' circle (5 cm exactly) is the 10-ring on static 25m precision target. So that is 8moa at 100m. Those that shoot at a high level in this discipline have to shoot smaller groups even within the inside circle in the 10-ring of 2.5cm (4mm less than an inch) to beat the group size of equally good opponents. That's less than 4 moa at 100m (109 yards) standing, in some disciplines and countries one handed. Besides that, it is a preference often based on the vision and technique on how one is using the dot.
Now ask someone that goes handgun hunting what they often use.
Would you then recommend Holosun 407 over 507?@@TheHumbleMarksman
Screw the SRO. Im buying this ❤
Check out the HS 507 Comp.
@stevenkennedy4130 I like that too! Probably going on my Shadow 2! I need one for the M2.0 when I buy it 😩 must...make...more 💰
Screw you... I'm buying your mom.
Right there with you!
Wanta know how it will compare to the new C-more RST3. New cmore gonna have option 3,6, 8moa Bigger glass than the rst2.
availability?
“DPP footprint industry standard” Uhh sure bud!
It will happen - no pistol slides make sense for RMR
@@TheHumbleMarksman There are already so many guns with RMRs that have been working fine, I don’t think I understand your argument. Let’s get to a universal footprint already even if it has to be the DPP.
DPP is universal on all but skinny carry guns - RMR only makes sense for Glock slides and fat slide guns - so there is a universal footprint - it’s just not RMR. Skinny guns get RMS cuts.
@@TheHumbleMarksman The screws for the DPP are closer together is that the reason?
@@swiftaudiyes - you don’t have to make slides wider for the screws to bite
4:40
Why not just make a 5 MOA then?
Because if u lower the brightness u have a option for a bit of a smaller dot same reason i always get the 3.25 moa
But I don’t have 1 million dollars! Lol😂
"sig is known for their validation process " ? That's highly debatable.
👍
Is it considered treason to put this on a Staccato XC? 😂 Sigccato XC
Pretty sure the Olight osight is gonna hold up to more than this thing 😬
WHAT COMPETITIVE SHOOTER COVERS HIS DOT BETWEEN STAGES?
The ones who take it seriously.
@@TheHumbleMarksman being old, crippled, deaf, and half blind, shooting three times a month, I gotta say, I've never seen that!!
Maybe it's not a California thing!!

1moa is the moa of the gods.
Liar
It’s a great copy cat product of the Trijicon SRO. When you copy (rip off someone’s design) you’re not a product manager, you are a production manager that tweaked a product to call it your own. No innovation to see here folks. You can disperse.
This isn’t a copy cat - other than being a big window optic. Side mount battery, different glass, different coating that doesn’t ghost dot in low angle sun, better emitter, better mounting footprint - and a bigger window that doesn’t cantilever forward, different battery. This is a significant step forward from the SRO in every measure. Zoomed way out at 10000 feet - sure maybe - but technically speaking this is superior- if it holds up in the wild. That remains to be seen.
@@TheHumbleMarksman Looking forward to see how much they will sell for.
yay another $700+ dot that will fail every couple months. "ThE CuStOmEr SeRviCe iS gOoD AtLeaST"
laughs in my cmore has been working for 3 years straight.
Large window but height over bore is crazy
height over bore on this one is likely less than a Holosun 507COMP
Depending anyone who runs a Holosun 507comp should look into Disruptive Defense optic plate especially if you have canik. Super super low optic plate. Think he's gonna make it for different brand of guns.
@@TheHumbleMarksman Is the deck height lower than a 507comp?
