  • Last year when SIG Sauer released their Romeo X optic - it was a significant optic - just late to the market as power users had started moving toward enclosed emitter optics - now, in 2024 the Romeo X is now available as an enclosed emitter optic on the Deltapoint Pro or RMS footprint.

From the consumer standpoint of making an optic purchase one time and then assuming it will be worthwhile for a few years, this is pretty irritating. My Wife now has an inferior optic for her ROSE and no one will want it second hand.
I hope they do an upgrade program of some kind. What do you think of this rapid product expansion? Are consumers being taken for a ride?

Gotta do some research, this was coming for a while, optics hold some value probably won’t get what you paid for out of it but take what you can towards a new optic. I was waiting for this for a long time and now at the price point I think I’ll have to go for the eps or scs320 I can’t spend 700 on a pistol optic

@@Ajibica117 So they should choose to stop developing products just so you will have a way to sell yours on a secondary market. lol. that's hilarious. No one forced you to buy it... DPP footprint is superior than the RMR footprint. The RMR footprint is only around cause for the longest time the RMR was the only durable sight on handguns, which isn't the case now. DPP footprint is basically a longer RMSC cut

Sig Marketing people must be in cahoots with the Holosun. They figured out a way to allow Holosun to continue to sell their wares while Sig focuses on selling this optic at the higher price point. Sig could have lowered their price to capture more market share and force Holosun to lower their price. In the end they only see us as consumers and look for ways to extract the most money from us.

Yeah, Holosun's prices are what they are because they are made in China - meaning they are built on the backs of human suffering and slave labor. Lots of items, (your phone, your TV, your car) you don't get a vote on where it is made. Red dots, you get a choice. If I get to choose, I don't have a problem spending an extra $60-80 to not have something like that on my hip every day. If your morals and standards can be purchased for less than $100, you do you, amigo.

Don't be fooled like most people are. They have two variants of this. The 'regular' one (Shield RMSc) and then this one, the 'Pro' variant. The 'Pro' in this doesn't make it 'better' it is only a reference to the footprint it uses (DPP). I had to look it up on their website to find out myself.

My Sig Romeo-X Compact has been running great since September 2023. The big issue is being able to reach the glass to clean the lint, etc. and the fact that Sig doesn’t sell mounting screws to fit Glock or S&W pistols. Seriously Sig? The lens is very clear with no distortion or fish eye effect.

Your video was one of the reasons I went for the Romeo X Pro for my M18. Driving a nail with it and it held zero? Sold! Just didn't like the price. Bass Pro had a sale, and I had $80 in Bass Pro points, so I got it for right around $300. Conclusion? I love the thing. Works great on my M18, and I still have BUIS. Haven't ever had an issue with open emitter optics so I'm fine with that. Have a Cyelee Shark X Pro on my X Carry P320, and it holds its own with the Romeo, but is much larger. Still, happy with my purchase of a Romeo X Pro, and might pick up an enclosed one one day when there is a sale or something. I'm not gonna drive any nails with them, however...

I think the DPP (Sig) footprint has already had more options in terms of versatility. It would make sense for the DPP to become the standard, because the RMSc micro optics uses the same screw pattern. This makes for very low profile mounting plates, when needed.

one problem with this optic: it doesn't actually fit on the DPP footprint. On both my Atlas and Beretta APX, the optic plates lugs are too wide to fit in the recesses of the optic. Sig's response was: just file the lugs off - sure Sig, great answer. How about you actually test your product and make it compatible with what you say.

My only complaint is that when putting on a 320-M18 is you loose the rear sights. With the open Romeo x pro, it has rear signs built in. I’m sure there’s some base plate with sights that you could get but that adds complexity and cost.

I picked up the RX-compact when it released and it's been my favorite carry optic every since. I have a gen 2 slide on my 365, so mounting the optic removed my rear irons. No problem though, because the RX-compact has a nice set of green fiber rear "irons" built in that co-witness perfectly with the front iron on the 365 slide. I was excited about this enclosed version, until I saw in the first few seconds of your video that they ditched the rear "irons" and it's just a flat plane. I don't understand this downgrade.

My biggest thing with the old romeo-x vs EPS was the EPS just had more of what I was looking for. Big dot option, clear glass, lowest deck height apart from the X, very good glass, being enclosed is a (very) nice feature to have, and can be found regularly for sub $350. The X did a lot of those things and a few things better, but at $400+. So now that the new Sig X is checking those same boxes or is better but at the cost (pun) of more $$$, I will be keeping an eye on them for sure.
Side note: According to Sigs site, the objective window size is the same on both the compact and the pro versions (or am I just going crazy?).

When you mounted it on the fuse did you torque it to 24 inch pounds as recommended? Just asking because that seems like a lot of torque for an optic

The Pro is listed on their site at $690 which is nuts. I’m hoping it’s just the meme because “lol 69” but what justification could they possibly have for that price tag?
We all know it doesn’t cost that much to make since the ACRO and RCR are both cheaper and made in western countries, and it’s not a gov contract thing since the Romeo M17 is for Uncle Sam.

For someone new to red dot, for my Sig P226, would you recommend the 6 MOA or the Circle Dot on the new Sig enclosed Romeo x Pro? I've ruled out the 3 MOA after watching your videos.
I mostly shoot within 25 yards but I do, occasionally, like to go out to 100 yards, but this is just for "what ifs and giggles", to a large plate, and only ~2% of the time.
Thanks and don't stop the Dad jokes.

Circle dot is better training wheels. Sig does a good job with the 20 MOA circle - not too big to be useful for most pistol distances - 32 is too big - you can aim with the circle out to 8-10 yards depending on what you're trying to hit.

    • @reeves624

Great content, great channel! SIG could have and should have released the enclosed emitter sight along side the single glass open emitter red dot. It’s just shameful in my opinion that SIG customers just spent upwards of $400 for the best red dot sight on the market -in a compact sight anyway, and now have to choke up almost another $500 for the sight most shooters would have bought to begin with. Thanks for the marketing manipulation SIG. There’s lots of SIG products that I would have liked to spend my money on besides a “better” second sight for the same gun. I’ll just wait the next time..

So the story there wasn't intentionality - they started with the Romeo X as being enclosed - got called up by the military to develop the Romeo M17 - so the romeo X had to be redesigned from what they learned on the M17 project. At the time the M17 and RX went live - they were in the throes of redesigning the enclosed version. At the time - they had one robotic line so the more ready for prime time RX got the green light. Now - they have expanded their optics operation and have more capacity and the RXE is now a thing.

I think that was intended to be a slot filler on ramp optic where you could get a red dot as an upgrade for $100. Also the lines that they developed the manufacturing process on the RZ lead to the RX and now RXE - built by robots.
