This video has been heavily edited to the point of reducing it to incomprehensible nonsense to get it past the robots. Sorry about that. Please desist from naming the fun guy in question, just to be on the safe side (there's plenty of other vids on the subject on youtube so i'm a bit baffled) however, remarks akin to "Corr blimey, what a lovely mushroom" are most welcome. Happy foraging folks!
Greetings from the redwoods of the Northern California coast, Crow! I just wanted to express my appreciation for your channel after finding it last week. It has been a delight listening to you talk about the druids and trees, thank you for inviting us into this space. There's plenty of mushrooms popping up where I live right now too - both culinary and magical. Where I live is actually the 3rd in the nation to legalize magic mushroom consumption along with mescaline and ayahuasca. A fun little tidbit - Frank Herbert, author of Dune as you may be familiar, lived only a few hundred miles up the coast. He was a field ecologist on the dunes of Oregon for 6 years, during which time he wrote the book while studying the progression of the dunes into nearby towns, and how to possibly stop them. Well what grows out on the Dunes in Oregon? One of the most potent varieties of Psychedelic mushroom - Psilocybe Cyanescens. It was the cerulean blue of the Cyanscens that was to become the inspiration for the Spice Mélange in his stories. I thought you might enjoy that. Cheers and thank you again for producing these videos
Mushroom foragers visit the park I work at, and often pick the few edible species they find. Yet the only people I trust for edible mushroom advice are the ones who return to the same spots each year. They are older ladies with exceptional good taste. They offer a class on identifying mushrooms, for botanical drawing, but not for consumption. That's above their paygrade.
In Germany they are officially called Spitzkegeliger Kahlkopf, but there are many old regional names. One of them is Zwergenmützchen which can translated to dwarf's hat.
And you are absolutely correct, back in the day, at least one of my Irish or English folk, would know plants and fungi, very well. For food, medicine, etc. That information was shared thru time but has sadly been lost within the past four generations. It is a shame, really. We all may find ourselves in need for that lost information that we once knew.
@@TheStoryCrowdid you upload it previously and have it removed? This happened to me the other day regarding same fungi 🙄 however theres lots of other videos on YT giving same information!!
It didn’t occur to me why you were taking your foraging disclaimer so seriously until a few minutes into to video lol Having just done a lot of foraging for edible mushrooms as a protein source for winter, this video is totally not what I was expecting, but I’m here for it 😂
I enjoy your comments so very much . I wish you didn't have to cut out the names of these mushrooms. That is childish of the government to require you to silence the names. Your friend, Xavienne
May the m*******m gods bless you!!! I already commented under another video, but now I am even more excited about coming across this channel. Crazy timing, just when I have been obsessed with sewing pointy goblin/gnome/witch hats for three days, and looking for those-who-shall-not-be-named with a friend, the folk knowledge shared in this video ties everything together.. I wasn't even aware of the connection!! But it's been right there all along! And great tips, thank you!
Very informative, thank you for your very fun videos and kindness. These little marsh dwellers, small yet with a long history. If only I could visit there for a while and study the forests and make more friends... some day. Thank you again for your abilities to maintain the rock of ages, great story teller.
Great bit of country you passed through on your forage. A keen eye is needed for a full basket of the right type. Take a Gong album cove for reference. Have picked, popped and Imbibed over the years. Had a Solo session on a BIG RED with WHITE spots, not to be feared and was a totally different "Experience". More Sorcery than Witchcraft. Thanks for a reminder, I will be spending time at my wood yard tomorrow and will Groucho Marx my way round the damp.
@@TheStoryCrow Full body buzz all day and a focused clear head. But I was 18 at the time, went skateboarding as usual it was a cool sunny winter day, breathing was a pleasure, no appetite for food Cider only. No need to repeat a time like that.
Theres definately magick in finding these guys, the eye squinting and them suddenly popping up is so true, I know a couple of playing fields and village greens where these live, hidden normally but, as you say, popping their heads up as if they had been there all the time...tricky!
Great little video, and indeed a great channel all round, top work sir! I've been around these little mushrooms for well over 30yrs, and concur with your points about them "magically" popping up once you find one. I always hold the first find in my hand, I believe he calls to his brother's and sisters. You can feel their presence as well as see them if you're in the right mood..... Anyhoo, great work sir, I have hit the subscribe button. 🧙♂️🍄🕉️
Wow only 75.99 on ama zon that book. Published in 1997. I found wavy caps in my garden today. Totally magic, when the night before I'd never heard of them & then a video popped up on here. Synchronicity from the universe.🌟🍄
Oh boy! I knew you were cool. I knew from the first video of yours that I watched; the one on goblins..... Anyway, the ones I used to get grew str8 out the "cow pie". Ours are much bigger, and you thump them first before you pick them. I wouldn't eat any until you get back home. I've gotten lost doing that. 😊happy trip friend. I'd love to go on a journey w you some day. 😅 The Halloween vid was cool too.
(Also the disclaimers and warnings are well-taken, don't go there till someone in person with the lore and experience teaches and says what you're good about.)
Could you be funnier or more entertaining? I don’t think so! I love this video from beginning to end! I’m hoping to use this information sometime soon.
Thanks for informative video….After foraging around on fields with cattle and sheep for the last few years haven’t managed to find any Liberty caps. Then yesterday morning. I found about 30 on the field next to where I live which has had no wild stock. Seems a bit prophetic for a a believer in the metaphorical.
Golly Gosh my headphones kept playing up 😂 But it was OK as my addled old brain knew exactly what was missing! I remember the annual pilgramage to the roman fort up Hard Knot pass in the early 80's. How some of those old converted Bedford ambulances and trucks got up there always amazed me!
Me a bit slow on the uptake thinking y'all aren't allowed to pick any mushrooms whatsoever. Enjoyed the mushroom walk and enjoyed you enjoying the mushroom walk 💜
Crow, I hope I am not too late to ask a question! Could one find these particular little brown chaps around burial mounds in Britain? I came across an Old English charm that advises warriors to take care when crossing burial minds, for elves will cause you stomach aches, and I had to wonder at the translation. The whole narrative made more sense in this context, but only if I know that such species also congregate by burial mounds. Thanks for all you do! Comprehensible despite your editing. Keep the flame going!
Great video. Stupid fake law. I had a wonderful time picking little chap caps on moorland grass, and I once drove my truck, when I lived in Florida, into a horse field and parked up to go hunting and found I had parked right in a magic ring. Yes, a lot of fun and tea drinking was had
They are illegal here in Norway too. Not long ago a woman got a fine for picking sertain mushroms. When I was a young teenager we were surprised to watch some young men out on the horses pasture picking mushroms. We didn't understand why first.
Didnt the early English (Anglo-Saxons) wear elf-like caps? And thanks for the naughty, esoteric knowledge >:D I totally won't be picking them 🌝 Great vid as usual

What a wonder of our world.
I'm 61 now and absolutely loved my time eating ang teaching people how to pick.
It is important to educate and enjoy.

Modern farmers often use antifungals in their feed. If you are having difficulty finding what you are looking for, look in organic farm fields.

What a fun forage. I'm watching this in a small city while a deer lays outside my window.
