The great thing about your body language is that your face is always happy and reflect enthusiast, while you don't show exaggerated and fake emotions and unnecessary loud voice. Your energetic and enthusiastic facial expressions seem very genuine.
I've become totally addicted to this channel. Adam seems like such a genuine guy, and he's so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Also I love how he doesn't shill anything, or shove anything in your face. That's why these videos are like a digital getaway. He just wants to talk about nature and that's it. Based.
Oysters are usually a plentiful winter mushroom and easy to ID. The great thing about winter oysters is that you don't have to worry so much about bugs. Thanks for a great video to help me get through the snow days!
Finally a true conformation that edible mushrooms actually are available in the middle of winter, thanks Adam for another great video, I've been wanting to go foraging but didn't think anything would be out there to harvest in January, looking forward to some warmer weather ! Lol
I just received a Field Guide To Wild Mushrooms of Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. by Bill Russel. I highly recommend this book those anyone reading this comment or following this channel. This channel is one of the few positive and informational creations out there. Good job my friend and to all those who enjoy Fungi :)
I have just discovered your videos, and I am astounded by your knowledge. I traditionally find three mushrooms that I eat, but I've been frightened to try others. Your wonderful teachings inspire me to expand my repertoire, and to take spore prints as an aid. Thank you so much.
I've watched this video about 5times and I'm still getting new information....what's wrong with me... thank you Adam. I learne so much from your videos.
Just starting wi4h 15 min today after a big rain week and found lions mane and tomorrow I'm including it in my son's homeschooling! Thanks and can't wait to see my little guy keep learning!!!
My wife and I forage 3-4 times per week...we rarely go home empty handed and...we are much fitter than most people our age... Great video...thanks..!!!
I just want to take a minute to tell you, how much I appreciate , you taking the time to thoroughly explain this ! your video is awesome, the segments corresponding with the picture of the mushroom is perfect dude thanks! that's awesome !
My favorite thing to do on walks in the woods is to hunt for mushrooms. Thank you for making another great video! Your pacing and clean editing are great to listen to.
Adam, you've done it again! Another great video, lots and lots of useful info, and photos. We are going to have a warm spell soon and I am so encouraged by you, I know I will be hunting for these shrooms out there! Thank you!!!
We have a lovely little (really it’s not so small) park area that the township has set up for school children to explore a lot. It’s open to everyone year round too. I’ve been practicing there and find quite a few mushrooms. It’s been really fun finding them and learning the different types. I’ve not been brave enough to eat them yet because I am so new but with your information I think I’ve gotten pretty good. Well fair anyway. Spore prints are essential I think for newbies like me especially. I wish I could tell you how much you’ve helped me and how grateful I am. I’d have to write ya a book! LOL Thank You so much for your generosity. The fact that you care enough about your fellow man to put such AMAZING videos out for free (I know RUclips sure don’t pay ya what you’re worth!) is priceless to someone like me. So thanks again and keep them coming. You’re truly making a difference in my life for sure!!! God Bless you and yours. Stay warm! My kids live in Lancaster, PA and they got a nasty ice storm today. Be safe. ~Lisa
Hey Lisa, thanks so much for your kind words and support! I'm really happy to hear that you're enjoying these videos. I'm not sure where you live exactly, though if there's a mushroom club within the vicinity of your town, I'd strongly recommend joining the organization and attending the walks. After a few forays, you'll definitely feel comfortable and confident in harvesting and eating wild mushrooms. That's exactly how I got started.
Lisa, Just to echo what Adam said, I found a local mushroom club here in CT and they were extremely helpful. Also, I wanted to echo the virtues of small local parks for mushrooming. I have one near my office and often walk through it at lunch time. I think since it's so familiar to me, I really notice when something new pops up, like a mushroom. Not to brag (OK to brag), but I found some beautiful giant puff balls there, took a selfie with them, and now they grace with Wikipedia page for calvatia gigantea en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvatia_gigantea
Mark Nowotarski Oh my goodness those puffballs are HUGE!! I bet you were excited to spot them!! Well...ya took a selfie with them so it’s pretty obvious. LOL Thanks so much for sharing. I really enjoy this community as a whole. Most everyone is really helpful. Thank you again and have a blessed day!
Your A Very Intelligent Man, Adam. Especially For A Man Your Age, True Wisdom Usually Comes With Age And Experience. I'm 44yrs Old This Year And Have Been Burning Amber Jellyrolls On Sticks Since Boy Scouts And Never Knew They Where Edible. Thanks For The Knowledge And Next Meal. Any Recommendations On How To Cook Or Prepare Them??
Always love to see a new video from you Adam! You're a fantastic teacher, thank you so much for sharing all this information with us. This winter I finally found the Greenbacks, and I was confident about the identification because of your video on them, the ones I found were virtually identical to the ones you showed, and sharing the log with turkey tail 😊 thank you for all the hard work you put in, I know many of us are very grateful 😊 happy New Year!
Thank you Adam, much Gratitude 🙏, from MN I hadn’t thought to even look around in the winter, but I’ll definitely keep my eyes open and an open mind while out doing our winter time activities this year. Be well.

Thanks for another excellent video, Matt. I've learned so much from you over the years for my own enjoyment as well as my lessons with young students in the field. You're also my go-to when my friends new to fungus ask for edu. videos on the subject. My motto this winter will be:" So many Saprophytes, so little time! Happy hunting!
I find Oysters all 12 months here is a Chicago burb. This Jan and then in Feb I found them during thaws as well as last Dec. Interestingly, I've never found them in March!
Thanks, again, Adam for sharing your vast knowledge and enthusiasm with us. I am a happy mushroom forager, who just moved from Virginia to Central Portugal, which is a gold mine of mushrooms! Found black trumpets, parasols & white chandeliers, all good to eat, plus about 15 kinds yet to identify. Nothing like a hobby you can eat!
Another great vid Adam...Love it...This spring can you do a video on cleaning and preparing mushrooms..especially boletes and coral or cauliflower mushrooms..thanks again...
Awesome! So I watched your video yesterday and decided to go searching this morning. I found a huge cluster of Winter Oyster mushrooms 🍄 😊 thanks for the video
Great video! Appreciate you sharing this! Had the exidia recisa growing on a willow oak and never knew what it was. Also, found a bunch of chanterelles growing under this same tree.
I was outside rolling up hoses for the winter when a term you use, "gelatinous lump," struck my funny bone and I giggled to myself... right before I heard a crack and I realized **I** now had a gelatinous lump in my pocket in the form of an egg I'd collected but forgot to put away. heheh I was born in Johnstown and have family in the area of Somerset/Nantyglo (sp, I left when I was 3) and I enjoy seeing what mushrooms I might have grown up near in another life. :-) Thank you for doing this!
Wow - what a fantastic video! We might just take our gang mushroom hunting when we're out on our next adventure! I would love to find some and just learn to identify them correctly at this point! Love this video. Great job!!
Great video Adam! Maybe I can get the winter camp crew out on a mushroom hunt as we gather our much needed fire wood. The crew and I are heading out on the 24th of this month, for 4 nights in the backcountry somewhere in Michigan.
