This run deserves an Omnibus!!!!! It was so damn good!!!
I can't understand why this isn't an Omni. It would sell so well
The omni will be PKJ's entire run
Some people do not understand this for some reason.
Dc hates Superman omnis.
Forsure this paperback is sold out on InStock already from what I see.
@@Milskaten Yeah, I had to get it on Amazon
I think this is the best Superman story in the past 15 years. I haven’t bought this because I want it in omnibus format. A story this good should be in hardcover!
I was kinda hoping they would do an omnibus of this. Im hoping they release all of PKJ's Action Comics run in omni format. I will just stick with the smaller trades for now .
Oh man, I was hoping for an omni with this superman content
One of my favorite modern Superman stories. I already consider it a masterpiece. I hope they collect the remaining issues of PKJ AC in a TP or just throw the whole run into an omni eventually.
Wish they made a deluxe HC or Omni out of it.
Deluxe would be awesome but with DC they would never release the second volume!
Or they would wait 2-3 years to release it… except it would be a standard sized TPB where the first volume was a deluxe hardcover!
Oh, DC.
@@maddevil7474 but this is complete story so we dont need to wait for Vol 2
"Are you not entertained?"
Clark Kent
Bigger margins on softcover compendiums and everyone needs to turn a profit.
I'll take what I can get.
Beautiful overview man. I loved this story soooo much. I really hope we get everything Action Comics by PKJ in omnibus format. You can tell he was really passionate about Superman. This story had some great world building, writing, and heart. Come on DC, bring on that omnibus.
damn. When they said they were scaling back making omnis at DC a couple years back, they weren't kidding... It's just compendium after compendium after compendium, and if you think Omnis are already hard to read, get ready for the most warped/cracked spines you've ever seen. -_-
I like compenduims. And DC are starting to release more bigger books like Omnis and Absolutes as of late.
I have been buying the recent DC compendiums, I've had zero issues with spines. They're nice and flexible. If you don't intentionally set out to crack them, I don't think you will.
It's not like the old days with those cheap ass Image compendiums.
Compendiums are more affordable and still decent enough quality to be pleasant to read. I love omnis too but I can't really complain about the current compendium output.
Now that Johnson's run is completely over (although he may return to write Superman in some other series) his Action Comics can be released in the Omnibus.
I really enjoyed your overview of the story. Interesting... Superman losing his powers while Jonathan is getting a bit older and probably will be taking the role as his father. I like it! Thanks Omar!!!
To me, Superman weakened was actually a bad sign when reading the beginning of the story. It's a recurring problem of writers not knowing how to write for Superman without somehow taking his powers away or using kryptonite. I did enjoy the story though.
I can't read "The revolution has begun" without hearing Korg in my head.
Why is this not a compendium? As people at Marvel told Omar: "Not everything can be an epic". Same answer applies here, imo.
I'm not a fan of Superman but this sounds awesome. Thanks for the synopsis, Omar. I always enjoy videos like this.
I can't recommend this saga enough, give it a shot if you've got the chance. Phillip Kennedy Johnson does this rare thing of taking the original pathos of a character, from their first appearances decades ago, and supplants it in a modern context. The Warworld Saga is a clearcut example of additive storytelling, where it feels like a natural evolution of the character spanning all the way back to the late 30s. He even takes time out of every issue to give a "Superman moment" where you can get a deeper understanding of why he is the way he is, and how others perceive him. These moments from issues 1035 (I own the page of it, my first piece of original comic art!) and multiple from 1038 will forever be my defining Superman moments.
This is the kind of book that can make people Superman fans. One of my best friends just never understood the character, and he read some of this saga one day and texted me with a simple "I finally get it." If you like good storytelling then you've gotta check this out whenever you get the opportunity!
This book is already sold out at LCS's across Australia. I hope DC considers reprinting it, or releasing it as an omni at some point.
This book looks cool. Liking that we are getting more trade love❤
The art in this run was impressive
I wish it was hardcover. Literally the only reason I'm not getting it
Iv’e never really read a Superman story. But your overview made me order it Right Away. Cant wait 🎉
Superman meets John Carter of Mars!! Read this in single issues when it was coming out, and the character moments for Clark are some of the best in recent memory. Super inspiring story and a strong recommend from myself.
Hell yes to X Factor vol 3. Been waiting for this for so long now, especially that it's delayed. But fingers crossed. Thanks for the vid!
I love that cover, Clark is gorgeous
Donald you said the truth, no doubt about where Jon gets his good looks from
I heard NOTHING but good praise about this run, and especially this event, but that being said, hot DAMN are events getting longer and longer with more and more tie-ins. One of the many reasons I gave up on collecting single issues was for this reason.
It's not an event, it's just the on going Action Comics.
Belated Happy New Year Near Mint Condition Familia 👋❤👍🔥❤👍 Great overview of this Superman story Omar 🤘 so much so that it is now on my ever growing list of books to hunt down and buy 😒😉😜🤣 Cheers mate
Happy new year!!
Dang that story looks awesome. I want in an omni. Waiting for that. They should just do Johnson's whole run in an omni. There's only one more story arc after this saga. And he's done. I think DC pulled him off cause it sounded like he wanted to keep going. Shame but his Green Lantern War Journal series that he's on now looks awesome as well. Take care and peace everyone.
I love these DC modern era thickies!
This is an incomplete collection. Morrison’s Superman and Authority should have been included.
I’m looking forward to read this . Hopefully I can get it for a decent deal on EBay.
I have been loving the Justice League show, think I might check this out. Shocked it's not an ombnibus
I’ll wait for the hardcover
Bought and read this. Early issues with Aquaman are brilliant but really drags by the end, it's far too long. The future state issues made no sense to me. Overall a clear recommend.
Yeah, it shows how the future state issues were writen before the real story.
I always saw the FS issues to be a thematic prologue, or a PKJ's mission statement for the character as opposed to an actual piece of the story. Just like the House of El stories in FS and one of the annuals, they're more akin to legends and myths than a specific, present story. With that's said, FS Worlds of War issue 2 may be my single favorite issue of Superman ever. It's inspiring and revolutionary in a way that few other things are able to achieve for me.
Maybe they weren’t sure how to spell ‘compendium’?? 😉 I’m not the world’s biggest Superman fan but this storyline seems to be very well received. Thanks for the overview Omar!
wow!
Ooh awesome
Can you read just the Clone Saga 1 and 2 as a complete story?? or do you "need" the Ben Reilly 1 and 2 Omnis to get the complete arc??
Can you pls do a review of The Trail of the Flash by cary bates and carmine infantino?
The only release of it is a black and white copy from 2011. Not much point doing an overview of a book thats been out of print for a decade.
It's a good story, and that fat trade/compendium is a good format, not so far from the epic line, the only difference being the completion of the series.
I hope DC will continue all the lines they are starting, be it in Compendium (Kyle Rainer, we need two or three to go to the Circle of Fire TPB, Nightwing and Robin by Chuck Dixon, both are volumes one) or in Omnibus (Young Justice, Flash)... They could be printing money with their back catalogue !
nice comics omar 😄👍 are you getting the silverage superman omnibus soon?
Omar will quote T'Challa: "We don't do that here" 😅
@@marcelo-ramos oh not omar sorry i dont do that therev
😄👍
I think it's a matter of time before we get an Omni. DC loves to milk critically acclaimed stories with every format available.
Very pritty edition
Make it an omni!!! What an unforced error
Exile had Mongul, too. Does that story still hold up?
What trades are included in this?
Is Mongul’s daughter still in continuity? I thought that this was his son.
Might pick this up the story seems to be really interesting 🤔
Is this in rebirth?
Gigachad Superman 😍
Superman has never looked so hot as in this book! 😍😇
@@vincentimbesi3947 Jurgens draw him superhot in the death of Superman.
A question off topic: can anyone tell me if the New 52 run of Superman is good? I've read Batman and half of Justice League and really liked it. I'm thinking on trying more New 52 titles (I plan to finish JL and read Swamp Thing, JL Dark and Animal Man).
New 52 Superman has some good and bad moments. The issue I had was too many crossovers between multiple Superman and Sup family books. It’s good but just be aware some collections double dip a lot. Swamp Thing and Animal Man have a good cross over in the earlier issues that’s really good. Both series are solid reads.
I think most people don't like New 52 Superman. I personally think it's mostly mediocre, but the last part is good. The last days of Superman and Lois and Clark take you to Rebirth, which is really good.
The main Superman title during the N52 is hit or miss, very inconsistent. I'd say Action Comics is the better title all around between Morrison's run starting it, and Greg Pak taking over for the second half (you can ignore the Lobdell arc in between honestly), it ends up being a really solid and underrated book by the time it's all said and done. Of course The Final Days of Superman finishes out each of the N52 Super-books. That one's super solid, and mixed with the Lois & Clark book by Jurgens, it leads into the Rebirth runs of Tomasi/Gleason's Superman and Jurgens' Action really well.
Does this volume suit for someone who has never read Superman?
Actually. Yes.
@@NearMintCondition Great, thank you!
Why not omni for this one and an absolute for Superman unchained! DC making bad calls.
Real book > Dc Infinite App
So this is A Compendium but not compendium😂
It's a thick trade, just as a compendium.
This is such BS..
This came right after bendis, which got the hardcover treatment,
this is an amazing story, and it gets Trades and after that it gets a big trade that collects the previous ones..
This should have gotten a completed hardcover collecting the entire story..
this is is such a rip
😭
DC's collected editions has too many formats. They should stop making half of them.
🙄So I want this..., But ☝I''m petty enough NOT to get it UNTIL THEY OMNI or Absolute this story😳 Trade Paper back🤦🏿♂
