I actually like the look of this model, I just love the raw technic look. I don't think it should be perfect for a set this scale. But I agree that it doesn't really deserve the "Corvette" stamp.
You know who's gonna love this set? Kids between the ages of 7 and 12 who love cars. It's affordable enough to be a birthday/christmas present, it's cool and recognisably a Corvette, even if it's not particularly accurate.
I actually like this a lot more than the overpriced porsches and bugatti. I think for a start, it's pretty good. Probably the next vehicle of this type will be a lot better
It looks cool, yet consider it a licensed set, it does not do its job. If lego can't do this, then why bother doing so? Just named it a sports car like they did for 42039, even though 42039 resembles TS040 way better than this one to a ZR1. My best guess is that they just want to introduce more GM cars later in the future set.
Love this set anyway. First official Technic car in ~35 stud scale in 5 years. Love that scale, as it's more challenging to incorporate functions and, let's be honest, it takes way less space if your place is cramped. My flat is super-tiny and when I got 42069 I had to climb the wardrobe to pass it going to the bathroom ;) Gonna get two, one for display, one for C-Models.
11:35 I’m a huge fan of this set and corvettes are my favorite car of all time and I was overly excited to get this set and I love it. I can’t wait to get the 2020 corvette stingray c8 (real life not LEGO)
it would be nice if they would find some middle ground between the Technic and Creator series. Both the Porsche's and the Chiron show it's pretty darn difficult to make a good looking Technic car even at a much larger scale. With traditional bricks, a lot more is possible in a smaller scale, albeit without functions. I bet they could make a great looking Vette of similar size from bricks, while still remaining working steering and drivetrain. Probably quite a bit more expensive, but I think many people would gladly pay for that.
The hood and front wheel wells should be a bit more sloped down towards the front and the back needs slightly larger wheels. With those two improvements, this would like pretty decent I think
3:05 I need that wheel RIGHT NOW! I'm currently building the Muscle Truck from Roadkill and i could definitely use that colour. The only other ones I have are light bluish gray. 10:16 The steering mechanism is genious indeed but I also like how the designer managed to capture the angle of the engine block.
@@keithcrusader well i asked him multiple times about stuff and he answered at almost everything. Ill ask him about it on the 42065 vs 42095 video (bcuz its gonna be released tomorrow or maybe even today), you can look for me at the comments Edit: or maybe thats because the video was already online for a few hours, days etc
I personally think this is a really nice car and a great technic set. It's just a shame that when steering the wheels hit the inside of the body and friction stops them from spinning properly
Man, keep in mind that it's for kids and not all parents can afford to buy them a $150 lego set. That's why Lego made a budget set for 1/3 of the price.
ACTUALLY THE DOORS DO OPEN IN THE STYLE OF A LAMBORGHINI; JUST LIFT THEM UP FROM THEIR REAR SIDE. IT WAS A PLEASURE BUILDING IT AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING MORE MODELS.
Nope they don't. While you build it, they work like the ones of a LAMB but at the end you have to put some pins which prevent the doors from moving at all.
This is my first set that I bought since hmm maybe 20 years :) I bought it because it was cheap, it had +500 pieces and it was ideal, to check if my inner child and soul of a constructor are still in place ;) Yep, they are still in place, Ford Mustang, I'm ready for you. I think this was behind this set, to offer a budget model in order to activate hidden lego fans.
What do the head lights look like flipped? Like the thick part of the clear piece at the bottom? Because on the corvette the lights are wider at the bottom, not the top.
I just got this set for Christmas and I built the B model instead because the corvette looked like it was rushed (meaning it looked like the person who made it out no time or effort into it)
Just finished building it! Already got it earlier at Intertoys in the Netherlands. Love it. I changed some of the dumb colors so now it looks even better.
Maybe they could've given this car better looks if more System pieces were used. Didn't the Mack Anthem rely quite a bit on System parts? Of course I don't know what the budget was, or considerations like sturdiness, but I would gladly pay a bit more if it would mean the car would look much better.
I fully agree with all parts of this review and I wouldn't buy it for myself. But it just happens that my son got it as a gift and I think for 7-yo it is more than enough and the fact it's reasonably small and robust model adds some extra value for him

Great review! I came back to watch again, because I'm considering getting this set for £23 instead of £40, which is a good deal in my opinion. At the same, however, I'm not convinced that I'd get any enjoyment out of it, beyond the 2ish hours it would take me to build. Anyway, fantastic review once again, thank you for this one :)
