@@matchadoodlez4323 yes, I know that. What I meant was that carrots are seasonal vegetables. If you grow them yourself, like I did for the 1st time last year (yay go me and my green thumb! Especially as they didn't die in the heatwave we had in the UK last summer!), they are nowhere near ready in springtime. Heck, you start them in spring, not harvest them. That was just my observation.
I have a feeling Bugs Bunny had more to do with carrots being associated with bunny's, rather than it being a legitimate food source that they find and eat in the wild.

@@leannes1083 yeah probably lol, in fact I heard that carrots aren't very good for rabbits and they're better off eating other leafy green vegetables, but thats just hearsay and I don't study animals so take it with a grain of salt. I'm just agreeing with you on how rabbits in the wild don't actually eat carrots as a food source

I think carrots are vegetables that can be easily stored. Traditionally people would store them in a cellar after the harvest and eat them during the winter (together with some other vegetables like onions, garlic, beets etc.). Maybe all they had left in spring was carrots?
