Let's not forget that Ipswich Town, back in the start of the 80's, they won the UEFA CUP. They are the ONLY TEAM in England that is undefeated in European competition matches in their home soil, going against teams like REAL MADRID, BARCELONA, AC MILAN, INTER MILAN, LAZIO. And not counting their FA Cup title in 1978 and their 1st Division title back in 1961-62 (IN THEIR FIRST EVER SEASON IN ENGLAND'S TOP FLIGHT). Actually prophetic what they have done; genuinely one of the biggest underdogs in the history of underdogs in the sport, if not the biggest of them all... Maybe they never were one to begin with. In any case, congrats to the tractor boys! Well done, lads!

One thing: in league 1 Ipswich were arguably one of if not the the richest club and should have been promoted years ago but instead of spending wisely money was just pummelled in and created instability. One of the best things about the new owners and KMK is that while they do have a relatively mid table potential money pile to tap into (more than people have thought) they didnt last season and this season, signing players they needed like Hladky and Tuanzebe that fit the ethos and style of the club and using loans really well. So In the premier league while they may not have oil money, I think that KMK will make wise signings with the decent amount of money we have and might even stay up.

Could've easily changed teams or picked a Premier League team from the beginning. But this is what football is all about. Going through the lows so you can enjoy the highs. Liga was formed in 2008, managed to win back to back promotions coming from the regional league to the 2nd Bundesliga. But not only that us here in Münster could probably be the the 6th team to do this in the same season ^^ Preußen Münster is currently sitting 2nd with a really good addvantage for the last 2 matchdays, and the season overall has been a wild ride for many teams, Arminia Bielefeld almost got back-to-back-to-back relegations from the Bundesliga to the regional leagues for instance, but managed to save themselves recently and will probably stay in the 3. Liga. Just something to look into I guess once the season finishes!

Off topic but name any of the top 3 leagues in England by name to anyone that's not familiar with the structure and whichever one you name, they could reasonably assume that league is the top league.
Premier League: Sounds like the best of the best.
Championship: Has the word champion in it, sounds like top level.
league 1: It's number 1... Obviously it's the best league.

I'm a Pompey fan and it's so so so easy to just get stuck in league 1. Ipswich did, we did, Bolton have, Charlton, there are so many examples. All of those teams have very very similar infrastructure and attendances to 90% of the championship. I'm not particularly worried about relegation next year, and I don't think Derby are either. The Championship is a phenomenal league, but the level between maybe the top 8 in league 1 and the bottom half of the championship is not that big

I reckon the saving grace is points deduction (like we will ever see that happen to Man City or Chelsea), or a Prem team not getting their shit together.
There are a few teams who came from Championship and fought tooth and nail to stay up, like Brighton, Forrest, Brentford all these clubs were not in premier league for over 15 years and managed to stay up.
I do hope for the sake of competition getting promoted just to get relegated is not the norm, becuase how boring would that be

It's definitely a fantastic achievement but I feel like all the people predicting Ipswich to struggle this year were absolutely not paying attention to them the prior season. To this day I've no idea how we pipped them to the League One title last season, and it was a chip on the shoulders of Argyle fans that everyone was talking up Ipswich's chances in the Championship and predicting doom for us even before last season finished. But that squad was absolutely ludicrous for that league, everyone looking at them knew that was a squad that would do well in the Championship. And well, the talk that Argyle were doomed was nearly right... As a fan of underdogs I love to see a relatively unfancied side go up, as a fan of a lower table team I'm painfully aware that we'll still have to play at least one of Leeds and Southampton next season.

Biggest issue from the Championship, for me. How the hell did Blackburn win at Leicester on the final day? That would have relegated them, Blackburn should be relegated, that should be everyone's goal every season

2:20 'And they do'. No team in the championship has ever spent £30 million on a player, never mind 40 or 50. The most ever spent by a championship club was just over £15 million for Ruben Neves, and they weren't even receiving parachute payments at the time.
The irony is strong after mentioning people that seem particularly confident about something they know nothing about on the internet in the intro :D

I am for promotion / relegation in the states because of stuff like this. These guys didnt win it all, yet you see players and fans alike crying, chanting, and cheering for hours after the game. The raw emotion that comes from something like this cant be replicated in the current MLS.
I get why we dont do it, but at the same time think reforming would only be beneficial to the investors that might not have taken the risk if we had rel/promo.

I'm a Leicester fan and won the championship on FM in my first season, with Ipswich getting 2nd, so this was both a surprise and not. If real life is simulating my season, Norwich are winning the playoffs. I shit you not that all 4 of the play-off teams is the same. Only the positions of West Brom and Norwich are swapped. Tin foil hat time.
