Had my L ACL and meniscus repair last week. Just finished week 1 and was feeling depressed. Your videos are inspirational especially how you are always optimistic. Feeling better after watching these. Thanks.
@@vaibhawtiwari4817 hey! It’s pretty good right now! I’m able to run well, have great range of motion and can rock climb. The only thing is that the quad tendon gets sore when I have a more intense exercise but goes away after a day or two of recovery. The size has been difficult to get back too. My quad muscle is about 92% the size of my other quad but it’s getting better each month. One piece of advice is to continue doing PT well past the recommended 9-12 months. At the later stages of recovery do not neglect impact therapy like jumping, landing or sprinting if you’re planning to get back into sports.
@@vaibhawtiwari4817if you’re having trouble running, try walking backwards on the treadmill at an incline. Start slowly too. Run outside in flat ground for like 30 seconds then walk. Do that for like 15 minutes and then gradually increase week by week. Running uphill at first lowers impact, so it’s a good idea to run up hill and then just walk down.
It is 5 Months and two weeks since surgery (Acl reconstruction and medial and lateral meniscus). I really followed your earlier videos up to week six. I gauged my progress with your progress and that was really great. But on the running part, i know u started yours around the fourth month. I am yet to start running, i am planning to start probably in a months time, at around 6.5 Months. I don't want to rush it. Thanks for the videos, they were really helpful, especially because i was not able to regularly visit the PT like you did. Hopefully i will run soon, get to intensive exercise and hopefully play light football (soccer) at some point in future. Otherwise, thanks for the videos, i can't emphasize how useful they were. Ciao
Had my acl surgery january 2024, doing great in rehab, what we find amazing is that 2 months post op i can start jumping and running, nothing hurts when i jump or run, but there’s still the feeling of hesitation to give the 100% but slowly getting there. (Physical therapist said my body’s recovering so fast and kinda happy to hear about this)
I'm at week3 after ACL+meniscus surgery and healing good.. Watching your videos is giving me great strength and lifting my spirits. Thanks... How is your leg now? hope it's as good as it was before ACL tear
First of all , I really like your videos , thank you for sharing. They are really helpful. I'd like to ask you. Did you have acl reconstruction for both of your knees and what type of ? ( Hemstring, patella, quad or cadavre tendon ( donor tissue) ) I have got an acl reconstruction (using hamstring tendons ) for my right knee and acl repair . I wonder İf I will be able to bend my knee completely and how much time it will take ?
I am on day 24 after my surgery (acl reconstruction & meniscus repair). I have been following your videos after my surgery and they've really helped. Atleast i get to see what awaits me. It helps in adjusting expectations. But it's also motivating to know that at some point al be able to run, do squats, jump, etc. So thanks a lot for making the videos, week 3 video would've been cool too. But all the same, the videos have been really helpful. May you be blessed. Hopefully i'll get to week 6 without issues. Bye bye for now.
Hi, thanks for sharing your journey with us. I pushed through in my daily exercises after my ACL surgery because of you! I have a question - were you recommended to use a functional knee brace at one point where the ortho allowed you to go back to training? That would be the 2nd type of brace that the ortho recommended for me, but I'm anxious if I would rely on the brace going forward a little too much. How was your experience?
Hi sir, been enjoying your videos. How's your walking after tore both ACLs? Do you still feel both instable having those two surgeries on two knees? I think I just injured my left knee, I had ACL reconstruction on right knee a year ago. It's been rough so I'm looking for support..Thanks a lot..
my Right knee (4 years ago) feels pretty much perfect, my left knee consistently gets better, but took longer and is only at like 92% there... still not easy to do butt to heel.
That’s awesome about the jumping. Yea 4 months is when I first started running. And it didn’t feel natural and it was hard for me to go long distance too. Knee just seemed very tight and lagging a bit from my good knee. But yea keep at it is what I would say.
I’m 4.5 months post op ACL/Meniscus repair. Happy to see you’re doing good 👍 just started running and jumping. Can’t wait to improve in those areas. On camera it still looks like your operated quad is smaller than your non operated, is that the case in person?
Jake yea I think you are right, I think it is smaller but also my knee still seems to have a little swelling, so that might make it look a little different too.
@Famvestor so about 2 months to walk normal??no limping?you were able to fully extend leg?and put normal walking pressure??and did you also have a meniscus tear?if so what kind of meniscus tear?I'm currently having a bucklet handle tear and completely torn acl..going for surgery soon..but im currently walking with a limp..just wondering if after surgery I would walk normal again
I’m on my 7th month and I can play sports but I can’t fully bend my knee it has only touched my butt once otherwise it’s always stiff unless I’m doing my knee exercises.. how long till I can bend without force? or how long did it take you?
I'm sorry I'll ask my question more specific when you started walking did you feel any pain on the side your meniscus was on like even if it was a little pain I haven't started walking yet but have been stressing the meniscus healing right so mabey this is a dumb question but when I start walking I should probably expect some tender meniscus pain here and there or no ?
Hmm its hard for me to remember, but I dont think there was pain... maybe some sensitivity, but it didn't feel like anything was wrong or anything like that.
Yea I still have a bit of that. Especially after exercising a lot. My leg struggles to be completely straight. And yea there is some kind of scar tissue on top of my knee cap. Area.
Hey @FamVestor, Really been enjoying your ACL recovery videos. I just had full ACL/MCL reconstruction in August, so your vids have really helped me on this road of recovery so far. Quick question, in your experience with your recovery, did you repaired knee at any point, almost look like it was crooked? Or when you walked, in order to keep your foot straight, did you have a motion that almost felt like your knee was turned more inward? These are two things I'm experiencing, and just wanted to know if this was common with other people. Thank you so much.
Sorry no I don’t think it loloked crooked ever. What annoyed me was that I couldn’t straighten it like the other knee. My other knee hyperextends a bit but my operated knee wouldn’t do that.
Yeah, I'm currently 3 weeks post op and my operated knee does the same. I have to really focus to try and keep it straight but even then its uncomfortable. But head up mate. We got this!
Mam we've had the exact same surgeries same legs everything first one on my right one acl plus clean up second one left one acl plus repair except I used pattela graft for both
Hey I hear you. I’m almost at year 2 and still am only like 92%… but it’s definetly been improving, still can’t easily touch my ankle to my butt though. Keep working through it. Do exercises.
Do you feel constant stiffness around knee when you’re walking or waking up in the morning. How did physiotherapist helped you in this. I’m on my 6th week with full flexion , working on gait and balance. Will start cycling in few days.
next week will be 6 months, my hamstrings still really weak. I dunno how your able to run like that. It doesn't feel right jogging yet. Its like I'm dragging my leg. I might just be behind a bit, they wouldn't let me do any strengthening the 6 weeks I was on crutches. I get sharp medial knee pains doing back peddling and I still get this aching pain when laying down or sitting down for long periods. You ever get these kinda pains?
Yes definitely has not all been easy. Running is still a challenge even a year later. I have good days when i feel like I’m back to my old self and then other days when I go for a run and it’s just instant pain. And yes sometimes after a long day on my feet. Laying down the back of my knee is a little painful laying flat.
Yes 6-months out you should be over most of the aches and pain. But your knee will likely still get sore standing all day or pushing it hard. Less of a sharp pain more of a dull ache.
i am on 5 and half months of my acl surgery. still having swelling. can run and do all the exercise. i am worried about swelling. do u had swelling at this time?
Hello, when you straighten out your leg as far as you can does your knee feel like it’s needs to pop? and when I straighten both my legs my bad leg doesn’t go as far back as my as my good knee, is it because there’s still swelling?…. I’m 7 months out of ACL surgery.
How is your quad? I’m at like month 9 and yes I still have a little bit of that issue but it was much worse at month 7. Can you do heel walks? I think you have to work on activating your vastus medialis muscle.
