Let them PILE UP! 2024 Toyota Tacomas continue to go UNSOLD!

- We’re seeing Toyota dealers slash prices on the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma. Now $5K Off MSRP is becoming commonplace across the US. Don’t pay sticker for these things! Dealers WILL cut the prices if it means moving the inventory. The longer a vehicle sits on a dealer’s lot, the more it’ll cost them. They want to sell off their inventory as it helps them save on flooring costs and improves their allocation rates.
Whats the best deal you’ve seen so far on a new 2024 Toyota Tacoma? How long until we see dealers drop prices of TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims? Of course many dealers will charge ugly markups right out of the gate (cough cough California)… but those willl be short lived.
What’s it going to take for Toyota to improve their tarnished reputation? First the Tundra, now the Tacoma. Just hope the 2025 4Runner isn’t next.
-Stay Untamed…

If my 6 cylinder Taco ever goes. It's Frontier for me🔥
Tacoma discounts do nothing for engine and trans problems.
That’s a fact. 👌 💯

Simple, BRING BACK THE V6 TACOMA AND V8 TUNDRA
It is not that simple.
The past vehicles have shelves set up for parts, not for assembly. 😳 😥
No way. Japanese will never do such thing. It is against Samurai spirit. They will rather die for it.
@@c7406-q8c It is not Japanese any more. It is American Engineer and Mexico worker both combine cause this Toyota generation die.
Gone forever. Frontier is the last "Frontier " for non-turbo V6. Titan has only V8 available in it, but consumers prefer big 3 crap and junk Toyota twin turbo, so they stupidly force Titan out of production. They shot themselves in the foot for brand loyalty.
@c7406-q8c So Samurai tradition and spirit is extended to building in Mexico at 2 bucks an hour, with 2 bucks an hour worth of Mexican quality assurance? Over corporation over tradition and quantity over quality, worst at a premium price! and dealers over marking price on their legendary vehicles on top of ridiculous MSRP for components to make it like a V8! WIth 20% of the reliability V6, Twin Turbo, hybrid battery, and the components and equipment to make it all function, once again like a V8, because they have said it wasn't for environmental reasons like popularly believed, but for power and torque!
Toyota: pretending the average American makes $200k + per year.
The ones making 200k aren’t the ones buying these 60k+ vehicles unfortunately. They’re too financially responsible for that
@@chibbyylolThis righttttt here 👆🏻. One of my lifelong buddies makes 200k and he analyzes every purchase to death before making a single move , rightfully so, even if he could buy said product 10x over in cash.
The bottom line is that the trucks are overpriced and of poor quality.
The average American: Pretending they make $200k + per year in order to get a new Truck they can't afford.
@@chibbyylol Ha, you would be surprised how many of those people still live paycheck to paycheck
$5k off an insane price is still insanely priced.
Agree
Yep 😂
If you have to get one of these, try to look and find the build date. And steer away from a Monday built vehicle.
😂
5k off is still 10k overpriced assuming it was issue free 😂
I definitely suspect that Toyota doesn’t want their vehicles lasting decades anymore.
Not a chance… cuts into their bottom line. Near sighted business model. =\
Planned obsolescence. Problem is Toyota's engineers (as usual) are more effective than their domestic equivalents and that obsolescence happens almost immediately lmao
Toyota needs to lower their prices about 20%. Just not a good value anymore.
Woah there moneybags, more like 60%
Agreed. 20-25% less needs to be the “starting point” for negotiating imo.
Or 20k
I find it hard to believe, that a guy that has been driving manual transmission most of his life, downshifted from 5th to 1st. Toyota is lying to the public.
true, or else Toyota made a hella-sloppy transmission if someone can make such a mistake.
Watch the video. He did do it. First off the truck went close to redline. 80km on third gear would only be around 3000 rpm. But the reason he was able to get into 1st gear was the auto rev match. Yes. When you rev match, 1st gear will open up. If you didnt rev match then 1st gear will stay lock and you can't get into it. Also the transmission wasnt built strong because it couldn't handle the instant torque.
Truck King is staying silent
Windshield camera would confirm the gear. Can't rock the boat & contradict Toyota
But what if he did?
The automatic features (which I don't want) should account for that.
First off, sometimes I put my Tacoma 6 speed into 1st from 5th. If I have to slow down for a red light, I might slide it into 1st before I'm completely stopped. I generally don't, but this isn't something that could never happen, especially if I might want to make a right on red but there's no traffic.
But say I screw up and go from 5th to 1st, and I start to let the clutch out. I'll notice right away, press down on the clutch right away, and correct the shift. It is very hard to go 5th to 1st by accident, but it is not impossible. Rev-matching should be smart enough to sense that and not cause damage.
That's one reason I don't want Rev matching. As someone who has driven mostly manuals for close to 40 years, on everything from Porsche to Jeep, I drive by feel. Take this feel away and yes I have an advantage on the track especially in turns, but for casual daily driving I am not focused at that level, so I benefit from feeling what the car is doing.
Also, 90% of toyota techs will “diagnose” the cause of the damage to be operator error if they can get away with it….thus voiding the warranty because they don’t want to get nailed by warranty time. I hate that this happens but it’s a reality.
They lost their damn mind with the pricing
That’s a fact!
Between my parents, sister's family, and my family, we've purchased a total of 13 Vehicles in the past 30 years, and all of them have been Toyotas. It's time for another vehicle for me and was waiting for the 2025 4runner to be released. But a combination of all their current engine problems, the shift to a 4cyl/TC, and predatory pricing, I've decided that it's best to go in another direction...at least for the time being. Decades of building a reputation for it all to come tumbling down.
Yes..let them pile up! Hold the line! 😂
Put a naturally aspirated v6 back in the Tacoma and a v8 back in the Tundra - ASAP!!!!!!
They dont care they know the nwo is taking over and have to beast system compliant
There is plenty of room for it. The front of the car is basically air.
There are plenty of reliable turbo engines, this topic is getting old, I agree that toyota is having lots of issues but attacking every day the turbo is ridiculous, issues so far but the waste gate wasn't related to turbo. PD I own a 3rd gen tacoma
@@DaddyGlez they are reliable for 100k or less, not built to last
I've been driving Tundras since 2002 and even if they put the 5.7 in the new model, I still wouldn't buy it. It's an ugly, truck styled car.
I heard if you buy a new Tacoma/Tundra, they will include a 32oz Pepsi for $13.95 🥳
Absolutely gone to Nissan when I found out Toyota was going to a 4banger! And prices.
You’re not alone man! 💯
Same here. I’m just waiting to see what the 2025 refresh is going to look like
I love Toyota/Lexus, but I only buy the ones assembled in JP. That rule has served me well over the years. Still driving my 14 year-old 4Runner which has NEVER had a SINGLE problem.
Just Bought a 24 4runner. It's soo nice
Guess you’ll run into a conundrum of sorts with the ‘25 4Runner lol. It’s the same powertrain and setup of the Tacoma but built in the Tahara plant in Japan
@@chibbyylol Indeed... :)
I love my 4R. Unfortunately the Japanese made trucks won’t be immune to this issue. The GX 550 is showing the same engine issues as the Tundra
@@davidsullivan1914 Oooof... well, if I upgrade, I'll definitely be waiting for a couple of years while they work out the kinks for sure.
Frontiers gonna destroy tacos
I think people are starting to catch on. I sort of want one. Baja Storm Pro 4X.
@@Papolucho702 Get it now. They are reasonable cost and available. In a few months they won't be.
Looked at a Nissan Frontier for the first time ever, Saturday.
They are very reliable so far. Still driving my 1987 Nissan. I checked out the new ones and do like them a lot.
Good! Tacos sounds gay
A guy lil kenny shows taco videos everyday....these prices are crazy.
nissan will reap the rewards
2 years ago at a Large Automobile Show in America I walked right up to a Toyota rep and asked him about the rumors I heard regarding them switching out their engines… The V6 and the V8 and going to lower horsepower low torque turbo Variants. He wasn't shy in telling me that was indeed the plan. I told him straight to his face it would be the biggest mistake in Toyota history. He laughed at me.
Yep, here in Hawaii where we love our taco, no one is buying this way ,way,Way OVERPRICED junk. 283 sitting on lots collecting dust as of 7/2/24. Nissan is becoming King.
Oooo that is a huge taco market out there
Las Vegas is considered the 9th island from what I hear. I have only seen two new tacos out here. The 3rd gen is still going for top dollar out here!
Huli-huli Tacos flipping over all over the roads in Hawai'i.
Our local Toyota dealer has at least a dozen of these things just sitting there waiting for someone to buy. Good luck!
Longo Toyota in so. California has hundreds of
I agree.... let them pile up
I’ve never been in one of these, but just looking at the doors it seems like the back seats would be extraordinarily cramped.
Saw a blue Frontier SV 4x4 in a parking lot the other day. Very sharp! Looks like a very simple and solid truck!
I know the Ridgeline isn't for everyone but the RTL trim is selling for about 41K right now. You get pretty much everything the Limited Tacoma comes with for about 14K less. Plus it's a hell of a lot bigger inside. The bed is bigger. The interior is dated but if you can get past that, it's not too bad. There's of course lots of other options too. Frontier, Ranger etc..
Toyota lied about emissions, lied about the tundras exploding, now are lying about their Tacoma transmissions failing 💀
Imagine what the next lies will be
I had to take my car into the shop the other day (free maintenance from the dealership so not changing my own oil yet). There was a volvo dealer next door. Their lot was PACKED. Not just the new cars, but late-model certified used as well, and all at decent discounts. It's crazy compared to a year ago.
Stay away from turbocharging.
My Hotpoint Dryer was built in Mexico too. It lasted 366 days.
Hey, now. Toyota marketing engineers investigated that clutch issue. 😂
lol right… I forgot. 😂
Changing 5th to 1st gear broke the transmission…. Is this wise explanation? Trucking said they changed to 3rd… Now everyone who watched it will think if that happens to them Toyota will blame you for the damage… who’s going to buy such car and brand?
@@c7406-q8c yeah he was trying a 5th to 3rd shift but Toyota claims he must have accidentally hit 1st instead of 3rd which cause the clutch to implode. Ridiculous.
And Truck King will still be invited to Toyota events.
Yeah I saw that and it was unbelievable. It is clear that these newer Toyota trucks are nothing like past vehicles. The 4Runner is the last great vehicle in existence until the end of this year.
A 4x4 with an air dam thst hangs 8" above the ground? 😂😂😂 Proof thst Toyota designers are out of touch with the real world.
They do that for the EPA rating. They know people will take it off, which is why it looks so cheaply made. GM does the same thing, or at least did a couple years ago. It's literally just there to get through the lab testing.
When money is tight, reliability and price are King, Toyota blew it and the brand will suffer.
I got you beat my tacoma transmission blew out with only 5 miles on it Lol
Huge change in the culture in the past 5-10 years. Entire success of the company was built on the TQM system that was ingrained in the workforce. Took 50 years to build it and about 2 years to burn it to the ground.
That’s insane man… 🤯
Smh
Was it 8 speed or manual
@@LiquidSm0ke manual
Did they blame you for it?
Doesn’t surprise me. I heard the Tacoma was having transmission problems. Toyota better get it together Untamed
Their clock is ticking… =\
You're right, but... still so far they're still the most reliable so imagine how the market is😢
@@DaddyGlez they are not the most reliable with trucks... even their cars have been falling. They have a better reputation still, built over many years... but its all smoke and mirrors
I really believe Nissan needs to take advantage of Toyotas situation and add more options to the Frontier. For example: a MT option for God sake!!!
Yes, Nissan builds a tough manual. The Z still has it. That's my only criticism of new Frontier. My current Nissan truck transmission is 37 years old. Never out of the frame.
Damn! So the 4 runner (having same powetrain) is gonna have issues from the jump.
If you're in the market for a new 4 Runner, get a 2024.
This doesn’t surprise me at all. I will keep my basic 17 Tacoma
This is what I wrote in the truck kings video.
“After reviewing this further, Toyota is lying to you and because u have video it’s pretty clear what happened. I heard a grind and I’m sure your dad felt it through the shifter. The truck rev matched for 3rd gear at the speed you guys were at so the reason it grinded seems to be because the clutch failed just from being a cheap POS rather than a 5-1 misshift. Had a miss shift occurred no grind would have happened and the engine would be trash instead of the clutch. Don’t let this false explanation from this crooked corporation slide man, enjoy your truck reviews and it would be a shame to let this new truck with such expectations slide”
Haha love it. Well said man!
I've misshift from 5th to 1st in my 85 22re and nothing critical happened other than locking the rear wheels and causing it to fish tailed...
Toyota record everything. It must be in their server. My 22 Taco there is a warning with red sticker saying “Your vehicle wirelessly transmit location, driving and vehicle health data… for internal research and data analysis” also from my Toyota app it even shows the record how I drove it. Sharp turn, sudden acceleration or stop etc…
@@c7406-q8c Toyota can say whatever they want without showing u the data. Over the years since the accelerator drama I’ve stopped believing their nonsense
If he challenges their narrative they might stop inviting him to the parties.
TFL sold their "long term" Tacoma after six months, so they'll never be able to take it back on the snow.
I bet a lot of people are considering moving over to a full size truck from the big 3 the discounts on those at the moment are putting them down into tacoma levels
Hopefully no body is dumb to pay their ridiculous prices and low quality vehicles so they need to improve.
I have two friends who went from 4th to 1st gear in their cars at the track. They bent their valves but their clutches were fine.
It means their engine wasn't able to handle the backlash of high rpm. But the transmission was build tough enough to handle the power.
Idk, I want to like this truck (I think it looks great, just a little too overdone with the aggression) but Toyota is out of their mind having these built in Mexico to save production costs and then selling them overpriced everywhere. It's kind of like they relied on their brand identity and hoped these would sell out.
People aren't that stupid, this doesn't just apply to Tacomas, dealerships everywhere have an abundance of trucks on their lot. In fact, more people are keeping their truck of over 10+ years because obviously it's financially more responsible to keep and maintain a vehicle that is paid off rather than likely having the bank pay for your new one, especially after what Covid has done to our economy.
And then there's the recent fiascos with the Tacoma's driveline issues + the Tundra's engine suffering from "machining debris". Toyota has a lot of work to do... then again it hasn't even been a year since these came out. For all I know things could get better. 🤷♀
Toyota is not the only automaker that has vehicles built in Mexico. Nissan has their compact Sentra built in Mexico also. I would not buy any vehicle built in Mexico.
@@josephkelleher8820 a cheap sedan being produced in a country such as Mexico to reduce cost of production isn't exactly an issue for me because it's a cheap sedan after all. We're talking about a heavy body on frame truck that costs over 40k for a base trim.
Totally agree. You should be able to drop it from 5th to 1st without destroying the clutch. Also, this seems like an unlikely occurrence. They engineered as much of the factor safety out of the vehicle as they could such that once you drive it in a manner different from their prescribed manner that it breaks. It should be engineered to handle a variety of extreme circumstances. Let them pile up!
Just picked up a "new to me" 21 Tundra.. it shotguns fuel.. but I knew what I was in for and I couldn't be happier with the purchase.. it'll probably last me as long as my tacoma did.. 300k +.. I don't need flash, I need reliability.. all I had to do with the taco is change the oil.. and installed a new alternator and belt.. that's it.. and it could've kept going .. I put it through the ringer too.. snow and mud in Maine and hurricane Ian in FL.. you couldn't pay me to purchase one of these.. complete garage
Toyota should have kept the V6 and added the 8 speed transmission and these trucks wouldn’t be sitting on the lots , Toyota has to start listening to its customers and going back to the QDR mindset !!! enjoy these videos Brother …as always waiting to see what’s next !!
Full warranty up to 200k, Toyota!
Yes, a warranty is good but you'll still be sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck. No one wants that.
A warranty Toyota won't honor.
A no hassle, no questions 200k warranty
I watched that video. It looked to me like he didn't get it into any gear. He pushed in the clutch and it attempted to "rev match" ( I guess this is a feature) and then went to crap. It did not go to 1st gear, nor did it look like he tried to shift into 1st. He was trying to go from 5th to 3rd to show off that "Rev Match " feature....... I've been a loyal Taco owner since they came out. I'm upgrading my 2011 SR5 4x4 to the Nissan Frontier. My local dealer wanted 48k to upgrade my SR5 with the features I wanted. I can get more truck and better features from Nissan for around 40k.
So happy I bought my 2021 Tundra V8 limited in Army Green back in March, before all these recalls. Keeping it forever!

@@dudeyo4579 Agreed on the taking care of it …..I can take a good guess as to why they went away from it bud ….with the change of leadership at the top to a younger generation, long lasting vehicles not requiring more repairs isn’t good for the corporate pockets .
Those new tacomas keep breaking and the body panel alignment is horrible. I wonder how bad the new 4runner will be once they hit the lots.
It’s especially not with it when you add on the 9.5% rates Toyota is offering.

After being in the tuner car scene, i knew as soon as they announced a 4cyl turbo they were going to have problems, specially for people who actually off road, good luck fixing a blown turbo or something in the middle of no where

I don't think that was the driving factor. I think they wanted their audience to have plenty of time to forget about it by the next snowfall.
They're trying to make customers pay the costs for redesigning the engine. The flaw in that plan is that customers do not want the engine.
People complaining that the new Tacoma is built-in Mexico while the new tundra's built-in the United States is laughable.

Toyota has had sooo much bad luck lately that it cant be luck at all.
They assembled in Mexico,Right? so if the part are breaking down, it has nothing to do with MEX. unless they’re making the parts over there, It’s Japan’s/Toyota fault for not having someone to expect the vehicles thoroughly, especially if they’re being built in a different country
I agree Toyota Corporate is at fault. Not the Mexican employees assembling them. Toyota moving production to Mexico to save over 80% in labor costs should have trickled into the cost of the vehicles. Instead they hiked prices which is a huge slap in the face.
@@UntamedMotors 80% is crazy lol
@@UntamedMotorsI'd add that even having the right knowledge the wester culture isn't the discipline enough to care about details while assembling those trucks
With all the Tacoma issues why are you considering a Land Cruiser with the same drivetrain system? Doesn't Tacoma use the same turbo, transmission, and battery system in the Land Cruiser hybrid Max Turbo?
Changing the land cruiser from a V8 to a turbo 4 is an insult to the vehicle. The point of the land cruiser was that it was a tank; I've never seen a used one for sale.
Saw a YT video last night that showed a TRD Pro on a lot and they were asking 81K (including a “market adjustment”).

So what did you buy? LC or pro.😮
50 percent off would help a new owner bankroll for a new engine and transmission in the future
If you want the NA V6 and V8 back then you will have to do it at the ballot box in November. One particular party is driving the changes we have seen.
Or buy a Nissan.
OK well you wanted to know so my honest opinion is people would absolutely buy these and they would get used to the smaller powertrain just like they have with the 3.5 echo boost in the Fords of which I’m driving on right now. As long as the price reflected, and they were on the way to working out the kinks. However, with the economy in the United States people aren’t buying vehicles brand new in general right now because they just don’t have the money and I don’t see it getting any better anytime soon. So I don’t know what’s going to happen but it’s going to take several years to work out the kinks in these new Toyota pick up trucks, but I don’t really see any former Toyota fans buying any of these. But you never know…
Good video, can you check numbers about HOW MANY TACOMAS WERE RETURNED TO DEALERS ON TRADES OR PEOPLE Decided to sell it back to dealers?
I’ve owned a bunch of Toyotas (currently own 3). If my 2022 Tacoma were to disappear today, I’d by at the Nissan dealer and in a frontier tomorrow.
Huge price tag for less truck, and Toyota is only paying workers $2.80 USD an hour in Mexico, and they still have the audacity to jack up the price.
I went to a dealer in LA and seen the TRD pro and it was 82.000 with ad on's and just walk away
What’s going to happen to used 5th gen 4Runner pricing when the 6th gen pricing is announced 😮
I have a 2024 4R. Toyota may change their strategy and increase the price of the 2025 4Runner by $2,000, which is where it should be.
You're so right on with what we pay for a Toyota
The TFL thing was a design issue with allowing them to go into the wrong modes which allowed them to snap the axle or something (According to SavageGuese). And also supposedly that has been fixed so a user cannot get into a configuration that is going to break the truck.
Out of all the issues you mentioned the only one that bothers me is the 8 to 10k overpriced.
16 bucks/hour. What kind of quality do they expect for those vehicles built in the USA when they don’t even pay as much as Amazon or McDonald’s in California.
Almsot $7,000 more than the previous year, theyre prices are getting astronmical, I will keep my 22 V6.... hopefully that lasts!
