lmaoooo.. comparing stronger pcs, more hz, lighter mice.. with a VERY SPECIFIC keyboard configuration for 2 specific movement keys... yeah.. totally the same
The argument that you are able to strafe faster with this than a pro can on a normal keyboard could be attributed more to a transition in technology than an unfair advantage. Just like .03ms display panels vs old 5ms display panels. It's all evolution.
A keyboard's job is to take my inputs and send them into the game. This keyboard just accurately records the inputs and what I actually want to do better. It's not cheating. It's just improved hardware that's moving past previous limitations.
The only way I can see this being an advantage or considered cheating possibly would be games locked to mouse and keyboard like CSGO. Games with the option of controller, Aim assist vs snap tap could even out the playing field since in games like COD or Apex a lot of pros switched to Controller for the high advantage of aim assist vs. Mnk. Not saying all but at the high tier competitive level, most are playing with controller for the overwhelming aim advantage at that level. Still doesn't seem to overcome a skill gap meaning, if you aren't at that high of a level it's not going to get you there with a lack of skill and using snap tap or controller aim assist.
@@Peter-gb4ey Controllers do have deadzones that can be related to the "null" input on keyboards. Besides the point either way and changes nothing on the main point of the conversation.
This will probably either be implemented into games directly or it will not be allowed. But although it's easy to detect people probably won't get banned for it in online play just like people usually don't get banned for macros unless they really abuse them.
Razer jumped the shark some time ago as their QA and overall product quality went down. I still have my late 2017 Razer Blade and Razer Core. But zero intentions on getting another Razer product. I like their designs, I like their concepts, but the quality is no longer there. When you put their pricing into place then it really is not worth it. I would rather buy a Logitech I am satisfied with than Razer I love for a few months and then tolerate because I spent so much on it and cannot get something else.
Is not cheating, the gaming industry is ruled by dinosaurs that only play golf. We're in 2024 and finally we are starting to get better interfaces for gaming. Just because the bar is/was underground doesn't mean is cheating. It means that gaming is finally evolving past archaically outdated accessories.
it's cheating just like using a macro is cheating; it's doing something for you. It doesnt matter if the fastest strafer can do the same thing using a $10 membrane keyboard from Walmart. The fact that you can hold left while tapping right to achieve a jiggle is cheating because it's removing the need to alternate finger presses. It's the same reason you cant have mouse macros to counter spread/recoil.
@@ticenits1926 I understand you. Yes in principle you are right. But that was a limitation of the archaic typewriter keyboard. If players can tap super fast then it's fair. The issue is that the tech is fucking finally moving away from the 18th century. Now everyone with money can match the 500k rigs of the streamers who are going to be the first crybabies because it removes their pay to win advantage a little.
@@alltheflavors9673 personally i like the tech so I just hope all manufacturers adopt it and then it'll be settled, nobody has an unfair advantage anymore.
@@ticenits1926 sure but gaming is organically pay to win, cheating aside, and will always be. With luck in a few years we could have a whole new paradigm of gamingboards that goes further than basic yes/no buttons. Sim players are decades ahead of FPS players pressing the simplest buttons for movement. Wooting is on the right track with their customizable actuation point as such but they are still stuck inside an archaic typewriter keyboard interphase. We need something with way more sensitivity like those double virpil setups for star citizen.
I got one and compared to G513 everything about it is worse, but I will keep it since I need snap tap, but the second Logitech introduces their own version of snap tap I’m returning to Logitech. 270€ keyboard looses in every-way to G513 100€ keyboard. Razer is huge disappointment.
it's not cheating, is as any kind of keyboard or button PCB should work, the latest input from the user, is the one the hardware should transmit. Developers have been playing around a tech that didn't exist but was an actual evolution limitation of the hardware. Now they will need to code and design their games around this tech, not asking the tech to stagnate for them.
In the future gaming peripherals and hardware are going to be instant. No one will have input lag, and id say this feature on the keyboard is an example that points to that narrative. I dont think this is cheating, you the player are still inputing a command, it’s just instant instead of there being some kind of delay. Its NOT the same as a macro, let’s not act like it is. This is purely instantaneous input. Thats it. The issue people have with it, is yes it makes input and tap strafing and all that much easier, so people who have put time into using a laggy keyboard for input and have mastered tap strafing and such, are upset that now anyone can do it if you have this keyboard.
Yep, PC (competitive) gaming is pay-to-win. I'm leaning toward the side of "this is how keyboards should work anyway" but I'm open to the idea it's not that clean cut.
There was something similar (to a lesser extent) some years back with the Logitech gaming mouse that you can "unlock" the wheel so that it can spin freely. Its has a lot less uses but i do know that it brought some discourse and in the end nothing changed. If using it was the optimal way to play then people just got one.
@@iggywow But most keyboard/mice manufacturers let you bind a macro to a button. Even Redragon, MS and Whiteshark. I think the wheel was used for jumps in bhoping, not sure though.
@@Klongu_Da_Bongu ye point was just that if you bound something to the scroll wheel it would just spam that key for however long you let it spin so you could spam jump while moving and aiming easily I guess
Null Binds are not new. I have personally used a null bind AHK (when accepted by the developer) for years. Custom actuation keyboards just bring an existing debate into recent light.
As a Razer Huntsman V3 TKL owner, I want to be clear to everyone to pass on it and buy a Whooting instead. Razer just doesn't care about their customers, let alone their feedback. There are countless threads on Razers community forums in regards to their analog keyboards and analog keypads where people are asking them to bring driver updates to correct issues and they go ignored. Some of these issues are years old from their previous generations of analog keyboards and these issues were brought into the new generation unresolved. Just buy a Whooting and save yourself the headaches.
That's not true, and sounds like fanboyism. Both Razer and Wooting are at the same level of gaming performance (if not Razer having a slight edge due to optical switches vs hall effect) and feature set that is so far ahead from everyone else. Now, the stronger points of Wooting is the build quality, how it sounds and it is somehow customizable with aftermarket parts. The stronger points of Razer is RGB, which they are still the king of. You can't really sync your Wooting keyboards lightning with anything else unless resorting to some sketchy 3rd party apps with questionable reputation. You can sync all of your setup RGB into a Synapse. And I mean ALL, not just your peripherals but mobo, case fans, room lights and lightstrips etc. So the choice is basically between having a better sounding keyboard vs better RGB lightning. But yeah, only those two keyboards matter for gaming at the moment.
since u just bought it. i recommend returning it and getting the wooting 60he instead. its cheaper, has the same feature in beta with more options, and literally better in every other way.
This is keyboard optimization at its finest for specific games and especially esports. It directly competes with wooting, which has been the most pay to win keyboard as of yet.
no it's not cheating. this is exactly where technology should go. all this talk about input delay and all these features that lower input delay and now its considered cheating because there's a $300 price tag attached to it wtf?? if this is cheating than using a 0.03ms 540hz OLED monitor as well.
I dont agree that it is cheating, it just eliminated the delays, the limit on keyboard has been a thing eversince, and on TERA when it was alive, people used script that are not bannable, one of them was allowed simply because the delay on them is litterally makes it hard to make a simless combo, tho I consider it as an advantage, I use a similar method by simply using razer synapse, not macro I just had to reassign the letter to the same letter but without the delay, tho typing words makes it hard XD. Look for a software called ahk, tho I dunno how to work with that,
people when specific keyboards have a feature that gives you (in best case scenario) few milliseconds of advantage: that's obviously cheating people when controller players have straight up aimbot: yup, this is fine, all good also if specific keyboards are bannable because they give advantage then we should ban everyone who has high refreshrate monitor, mouse with high end sensor or above average internet latency

The argument that you are able to strafe faster with this than a pro can on a normal keyboard could be attributed more to a transition in technology than an unfair advantage. Just like .03ms display panels vs old 5ms display panels. It's all evolution.
might as well make this as the standard keyboard for esport. I don't see any problems
A keyboard's job is to take my inputs and send them into the game. This keyboard just accurately records the inputs and what I actually want to do better. It's not cheating. It's just improved hardware that's moving past previous limitations.
you can make some with configs no need to upgrade any keyboards for this.
The Neo strafe would go crazy
Why buy this keyboard? If you can have food inside your keyboard, So when you press the key, its mm closer to input.
You can you this feature on all Keyboards. Is just software based.
Should rapid trigger also be applied with snap tap or not?
yeah, it would make it faster. but the idea is that u would already be using it
The only way I can see this being an advantage or considered cheating possibly would be games locked to mouse and keyboard like CSGO.
CS2*. Unless ur rolling back to CS:GO. Also, I think controller have Snap Tap because joy sticks can only be A or D and can't do the null thing.
@@Peter-gb4ey Controllers do have deadzones that can be related to the "null" input on keyboards. Besides the point either way and changes nothing on the main point of the conversation.
This will probably either be implemented into games directly or it will not be allowed. But although it's easy to detect people probably won't get banned for it in online play just like people usually don't get banned for macros unless they really abuse them.
description of channel says you review audio gear
Great video. I agree outside snap tap feature its trash. For the same money its best to buy a Wooting.
Pretty certain other brands are gonna copy Razer's snap tap soon, I think another brand did it already under another name
There are literally apps that can do What that snap app can do . So again why get this razor keyboard?
Definitely not cheating. Also, they should allow null binds in tournaments or Valve to make this behaviour the default.
it's not cheating, is as any kind of keyboard or button PCB should work, the latest input from the user, is the one the hardware should transmit.
Developers have been playing around a tech that didn't exist but was an actual evolution limitation of the hardware. Now they will need to code and design their games around this tech, not asking the tech to stagnate for them.
I mean in most games strafing that fast you’ll literally be in the same exact spot
Thats it. The issue people have with it, is yes it makes input and tap strafing and all that much easier, so people who have put time into using a laggy keyboard for input and have mastered tap strafing and such, are upset that now anyone can do it if you have this keyboard.
what about the regular huntsman mini
Yep, PC (competitive) gaming is pay-to-win. I'm leaning toward the side of "this is how keyboards should work anyway" but I'm open to the idea it's not that clean cut.
There was something similar (to a lesser extent) some years back with the Logitech gaming mouse that you can "unlock" the wheel so that it can spin freely. Its has a lot less uses but i do know that it brought some discourse and in the end nothing changed. If using it was the optimal way to play then people just got one.
ah right, the classic bind mousewheel to left click and spin it at a million miles an hour
Razer couldn’t have wished for a better promotion this way 😮
As a Razer Huntsman V3 TKL owner, I want to be clear to everyone to pass on it and buy a Whooting instead. Just buy a Whooting and save yourself the headaches.
wooting is just better in every way
That's not true, and sounds like fanboyism.
I actually bought this keyboard js because of a similar video i saw the other day, the influence these videos have over people is crazy 😵💫
since u just bought it. i recommend returning it and getting the wooting 60he instead. its cheaper, has the same feature in beta with more options, and literally better in every other way.
@@Sinsanatis I can't find it anywhere where I live to order it from a trustable place so, while I wish I could, no ty
@@quacomc aw dam. thats unfortunate. next best thing ig.
Controller players: "input lag?"
Will you be reviewing the dead pool or wolverine xbox controllers😅
This is keyboard optimization at its finest for specific games and especially esports. It directly competes with wooting, which has been the most pay to win keyboard as of yet.
no it's not cheating. this is exactly where technology should go. all this talk about input delay and all these features that lower input delay and now its considered cheating because there's a $300 price tag attached to it wtf?? if this is cheating than using a 0.03ms 540hz OLED monitor as well.
Calling something trash and then saying you wont do a full review, couldn't sound more biased.
CS2 Tournaments have green-lit it for use. So no, I guess it's not cheating.
my low profile keyboard like Lofree Flow seems like they have same punctuation ish
AWPers gonna have a field day with this one
do a comparison with wootings new SOCD feature
I dont agree that it is cheating, it just eliminated the delays, the limit on keyboard has been a thing eversince, and on TERA when it was alive, people used script that are not bannable, one of them was allowed simply because the delay on them is litterally makes it hard to make a simless combo, tho I consider it as an advantage, I use a similar method by simply using razer synapse, not macro I just had to reassign the letter to the same letter but without the delay, tho typing words makes it hard XD.
Look for a software called ahk, tho I dunno how to work with that,
people when specific keyboards have a feature that gives you (in best case scenario) few milliseconds of advantage: that's obviously cheating
people when controller players have straight up aimbot: yup, this is fine, all good
also if specific keyboards are bannable because they give advantage then we should ban everyone who has high refreshrate monitor, mouse with high end sensor or above average internet latency
