The Transit seen in this video is the largest van Ford makes. The 350 HD starts at $33,590 but this model is decked out with all the good stuff including a 3.2 Liter 5-Cylinder Turbo Diesel that makes 185 horsepower and 350 lb-ft. of torque.

My "old Econoline" has over 300,000 miles on all original running gear, basic maintenance only. I'm not putting down the Transit, heck it might be even better, but the old vans certainly proved their worth.

3.2 TDCI have 200 HP and 470 Nm, which is very good for towing and fuel consumption.

I bought the nissan work van high roof for my handyman work 3 years ago. my niece calls me chester the molester and if I'm eating lunch in the vehicle, cops stop and look at me. I know they are running my plates. what the hell??? although, I actually do have rope, duct tape, candy and lotion in the vehicle. but still.... that's for work.

I think Nissan's NV is a competitor, because there is access to the engine. I used to be an EMT, and we switched from ambulances with a van front, to a truck front, because with that Power Stroke engine jammed in there, and constantly being ran full out, and hauling a lot of weight, they tended to run quite hot.These were the V8 Diesels and seemed to wear out faster than they should, and were more difficult and expensive to service, or swap engines than in a truck front. But the truck fronts are longer, harder to maneuver and there's usually no way to go between the cab and box from the inside. If Nissan puts the Cummins Diesel in the NV, with the addition of their strong conventional, upper/lower control arm front suspension, instead of macpherson struts, I think you'll start seeing more Nissan NV's. A 4 wheel drive option would also help both cargo, and passenger versions.

Thanks for reviewing a diesel, video reviews for them are hard to find. Saw & saved this months ago, just noticed clove compartment accoutrements, sweets, skin so soft & econo dumbwaiter. Ur a freak; I dig you more than a Lil bit.
What is the towing cap on this model. Info to find is difficult even on fords website.

Entertaining and informative review. Extremely thorough. While reading through the comments here I found it interesting how many comments came from juvenile men with unresolved issues around lotion. It is the wrong platform, sheesh

I was shocked when i saw a Ford transit van in Portugal, it was probably from the 90's, all rusted, it looked very much like a Mercedes Sprinter. here in the US we had the Ecoline which as basically an enclosed F-250

5 years later the 2.0 diesel is coming out. If you were getting 21mpg with the 3.2, heres hoping for for 23 mpg

In Ford's defense for not bringing the Transit here sooner, they were always trying to please fleet customers. Fleet customers don't like all new things, they like known items with known parts with known tools needed to maintain and repair. Same thing happened with the Crown Vic and Town Car in fleet use.
Shame you don't get the latest euro engines too. In Europe in this exact size Transit the diesel is a much more modern efficient 2.0 4cyl turbodiesel with 185hp. In biggest size van it does a genuine 35mpg. And 350,000 miles with regular oil changes. You guys should demand it. Makes this 3.2 obsolete, and unecessarily thirsty. Our previous generation engine was a 2.2 and did 33mpg at a steady 70mph!

As you can see this hand lotion performs perfectly in dry weather coming In at $4. This rope duck tape and candy all come in the optional creep package but is quite expensive coming in a just 16 year in prison.

The NV2500 is a fantastic van - except the absolute garbage fuel economy - I have the 5.6 and have put about 50k on it. avg mileage has been 10-10.5. Banks exhaust has upped it to 14.5 on the highway. It should have absolutely got the 5.0 Cummins out of the Titan xD (too little, too late). Nissan did their homework and the van is full of real-world innovation with Nissan's build quality - they talked to actual contractors instead of 'focus-groups'. And yes, it is American made - van from Mississippi, engine from Tennessee, rear axle from Michigan. That being said, the Transit with the PowerStroke 3.2 piques my interest, as I am tired of getting beat up at the pump. I am the owner, I fill it - unlike a fleet vehicle that has everything amortized out over a large fleet. The mileage above the 20 mark is impressive for something with the aerodynamics of a gymnasium. I had an '03 GMC Savana 5.3 prior to the NV, and it was solidly rooted in 1992 when that body style dropped (still utilizing 1970's architecture). Did reasonably well on mileage on the highway. If they did a better job on build quality from the factory, and had the diesel options not being a $5,000 upcharge, the small operators like me would be listening. Yes the 2.8 4cyl Duramax is interesting, as is the new 3.0 6cyl Duramax - put them in something modern! Opel Vivaro/Vauxhall Movano - or whatever their current version is called based on their collaborative efforts with Renault. No need to reinvent the wheel, just get it right.
I usually prefer White for an exterior color - it makes the 'free kandy in bak' sign scrawled in Sharpie stand out on the sliding door.
Inside humor I get it. This was borderline bad taste. Love those vans though. Looking to get out of my last Chevy and these are damn nice.
I really wish If I can afford this beauty... my life will change 180° .... but , for now , I'll stick with the flip phone and the pager !!!

At the end, it shows Similar Models: Chevrolet City Express. Absolutely wrong. Chevy City Express is a compact van, not a full size van like Nissan NV (not the NV200) nor Ford Transit.

This is the same van used by American Pickers.
I've driven the American Pickers Transit when they valeted it at my hotel. It was exactly this one, only with a partition and a ton of cameras. Must say, the two hosts of that show were among the rudest, most arrogant people!
And yet they act like they're the most down to earth folk on the TV show. Like most of these reality shows, it's not what it seems.

My friend bought one of these. Such a pos. It has had so many problems. Granted he has 40k in a year, but its gone through back brakes already, engine computer went, wheel bearing seized, alternator went out, dash cluster... Its been an utter disappointment and Ford doesn't seem to care. The guys at the dealer call him test subject 1 cause he was the first one on the east coast to get one.
Sprinter is best choice ...our 2008 sprinter diesel 2500 went 326,000 and did well!
REASON why I WON'T buy a new vehicle, especially @ this price !

We have a ford transit 3500 diesel at work half the time is on the road and the other half at the shop. Even the dealership does not want to hear about us any more, the last time we took the vehicle to Caruso Ford, they did not even call me back after they said they needed to order the parts. They just do not want to hear about our transit any more. I do not know who paid this guy to talk only good things about this vehicle. If you are in the market for a van, stay away from this vehicle.
