350z / G35 Kinetix Velocity Intake Manifold Install and Review

- Check out the Kinetix Velocity Intake manifold for the 350z / G35, their website claims it adds 30hp! A huge number for an untuned stock car, but is it really true?! While I did notice a difference it’s hard to say if it’s really 30HP! Maybe 10 😂 either way it’s an improvement and one step closer to the 350z being a little more serious of a drift car.

That little gain would be a little gain OVER that V+ that was already in there. So that really is a pretty decent power gain!
Yea it really is decent! Noticeable for sure
Man this makes me feel so much better ab my build atm. I went through the same exact process after getting mine from marketplace😂 the 3rd chirp is so relatable as well I’ve bought two shit first gens trusting what ppl said. You can get a wet sock type cover for your filter and it rlly helps with dust and water! Your z sounded crazy I love the echo and I feel the kinetix def helps with the rasp even with test pipes
Lol! Good idea on the filter cover I’ll have to get one of those. Thanks!
Finally a video that actually shows how to take the damn thing off 🤦♂️ thank you.
😂😂 no problem! Lol
I just got a parts car that came with this intake. And remembered u did this install. Was looking for help because I couldn’t 2 of the Allen keys out. Now that I saw wat u used I will try again on my day off. The hard one in the back is stripped tho 😭😭
If it’s stripped just drill it out, sucks but that’s the quick and dirty way haha
Just got mine delivered to the UK today. Excited to install it will be using your video as a guide for sure. Just got headers to do after this and ive got every bolt on possible, ecutek are working on a tune for early models so keep an eye out for that.
Very cool! I hope you enjoy the manifold! And will do, thanks!
Good job👍. As already mentioned a tune will help maximise this intake. If you combine it with equal length headers or long tube headers there’s lots of gains to be had. The air filter repellent sock also helps just like running the front bumper. You can make it easily removable and ducted with bonnet venting which will improve cooling and aerodynamics.
Getting tuned this month! I’ve been slacking on getting the little sock for the filter haha
if i get different headers to fit the intake is there any other parts i need? sorry i’m new to building engines
question ... if i got this intake with a 75mm throttle body would i require a tune immediately? btw i have full exhaust except headers
As a Tuner in Louisiana(rookie) I swapped a VQ35DE in my red hatch as you see on my profile thumbnail. I installed this intake, but, with other mods.
:Haltech Platinum Pro plug n play, :2009+
Maxima throttle body
:Port matched lower intake manifold plenum to heads.
:ported & polished lower Intake plenum.
:2014 VHR exhaust manifolds modded with a 2 1/2in downpipe,Y pipe to a 3in Cat back HKS hi Power exhaust system.
Oil cooler, dual core rad( aluminum)
Made 260hp exactly on 18in wheels & tires.
This was on a hurt junkyard motor that later blew the head gasket after racing some older boxy BMW. (Not going to lie he whooped my but, but I had fun. Now going VHR.
Very cool! I think this VQ will end up in my S13 hatch once the z gets a different swap haha
@@tonycrispin get the AC working. Promise it's worth it. Just get the VQ ends & get hoses crimped on.
That was amazing to install the kinetic Velocity Intake Manifold for the 350z. I think you can built your own brand auto with your intelligence with cars. Good video, and thanks for sharing. You are a genius.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I capped mines with HPS performance silicone caps. Friendly advice for others don’t use rubber caps.
Very smart I’ll have to keep a handful of those in my garage!
@ also the oem spring clamps will never loosen over time like worm clamp will.
Looks sick! Came out great too
Thank you!
Oh yeah, gotta love the 3rd gear ⚙️ synchro grind! 😁 LoL
😂😅
Potential power after supporting mods .
Tune and more mods coming soon, I know it’ll really wake it up 🙌🏼
Thanks going to put mine on this weekend.
Sweet! Enjoy it!
I'd say though the only issue is the heat soak after a hot day or hard driving. That manifold gets hot. Soo I'd at least run a front mount filter.
Hasn’t been too bad! I keep my fans constant on during track driving and have hood vents that help extract heat.
@tonycrispin lucky.. I wanted to make vents buy my English Wheel is too small.
@@cruisecontrol6938 mustang GT hood vents are a cheap easy alternative!
Nice! I think for this thing to actually get that power one needs a tune for it.
Yea I’m sure that would really help!
I wonder if it will stay more consistent in the heat ?! Looks good!
We’ll see! At least it looks cool 😎
where is the intake pipe from? looks so clean👌🏻
DC sports short ram intake 👍🏼
hey man im not 100% sure cause im at work and cant look at my car at the moment, but im pretty sure those two coolant lines go to your throttle body, should be a nipple on the bottom and on the front side
There’s a little passage way on the back of the factory intake manifold that buts against the throttle body that they go to, built into the factory manifold and not on the Kinetix one. I mistakenly thought the same though lol
@@tonycrispin yeah that sounds about right, im looking into this manifold so good to know about that before hand, awesome video👍🏼
Did you happen to notice any weird whistling kinda noise when accelerating? Ever since installing it I’ve been hearing it over 2k rpms and I thought it was a vacuum leak but I’ve checked everything and the manifold is torqued down pretty good. You think it could be the throttle body? I’ve got a 75mm hitachi on there.
It does make more induction noise for sure!
Nice work man! You might have to grind that Alan tool down and keep it specifically for the manifold. Also are you going to run an oil catch can?
That’s a good idea, and a catch can is going to happen eventually. I can tell I need it lol!
Looks very similar to the original Z-series VG30E and ET! Similar physics?
Yea very similar!
So did you already have a potted lower plenum? Because if it didn’t match the upper doesn’t that just defeat the purpose?
Ported I mean
No I didn’t port the lower manifold, but that doesn’t defeat the purpose the companies dyno graph was with a totally stock motor. Gains are still noticeable! But a ported lower would help, no doubt!
Bro ure actually so good looking
Thanks 😅
Gaaaaay
How much clearance is there beneath the strut bar? Looks like there might be more clearance compared to the stock plenum
More than a stock plenum with spacer for sure!
Realmente si da los 30 caballos de fuerza mas ? Ocupara reprogramacion o alguna otra cosa pa sacarle todo el poder a ese plenum ?
I think it gives 30HP in one spot of the RPM, not the whole power curve, a tune will help for sure!
Los VQmbias son magia compa, nomás que estamos endiosados con los motores de Yukon yonkeada con 400,000 millas
I don't have a kinetics one but I do have a similar one
Cool, what brand? I wonder how similar they are in performance.
Hell Yeah!!!!!
🤘🏼
a 3.9 diff would help
Absolutely! I’m on a hunt for a good deal on one. Haha

Where can I buy it? Is there a purchase page?
Enjuku, Z1, and a few eBay stores have it!
So you dont gotta tune the car if you add that intake manifold ?
Not needed, but it will add more performance gains!
Can this fit the vq35de in the 8th gen maxima?
I can’t confirm that, but I also don’t see why not! Lol
🔥🔥🔥🔥
🙌🏼
Need to save this for the future 🫡😅
😎
Hey bro I live in so cal by the track can you help me put on a plenum spacer
It’s super simple! Hit me up on IG with any questions I’m sure you can tackle it!
@@tonycrispin copy that
Is this the vq35DE?

i just bought a 350z and it has that manifold but i’m confused bc i see comments saying you don’t need a tune and my friends are saying i do need a tune bc it’s gonna run to lean and can mess up the engine. would help a lot if you game me an answer since you know way more about this car then i do @tonycrispin
@tonycrispin
Yea man, you don’t need a tune, I’ve ran my car for a few months with no tune and no problems. It’ll make more power with a tune but I don’t think you have any worries about it damaging anything.
