@jamespearson7655 I heard that Michael Anthony was actually singing lead for another band when Van Halen recruited him. Anyhow a general comment on this song, i never realized back in the day just how r&b/funky/danceable this track was. Part of the fun of watching reaction videos is seeing/hearing known music in a new light.

Fair Warning is considered Van Halen's dark album. So many bangers, like Push Comes to Shove, Dirty Movies and Sinner's Swing. Eddie was at his most creative, and pretty aggressive. Mikey and Alex tears it up in the background, and Dave shines and shows his grittiness. Such a gem of an album.

From a Van Haleniac, this is one of my favorite rock tunes of all time. King Edward's slapping technique at the beginning of the tune was yet another technique that so many young guitar players emulate. Van Halen's live shows were epic! I saw them at the US Festival in 1983 with 300K plus maniacal fans. Yep, it doesn't getter more bad-ass than the Mighty Van Halen...their self titled album went diamond and is considered one of the foremost hard rock albums of all times.

This was mostly a darker than usual album . I'm guessing one reason is because Angus Young called Van Halen a pop band . Im also guessing Edward was responding to that . He was constantly fighting with Teddy Templeman , by keeping cover tunes out of the album . The band's PR was they were the world's best bar band as one explanation of why there were cover tunes in all the prior albums . Teddy wanted more cover tunes for FAIR WARNING and Ed refused . The only fun song was So This Is Love , and I think that song was written for Edward's future wife-to-be Valerie Bertinelli . They started dating around or shortly prior to the making of this album .

“That was a little different..” yes sir it was, Eddie at his finest, rawest and meanest…
Fair Warning in most of our opinions is the best VH album

Hey guys what's up! Everything Eddie Van Halen plays has a swing to it. Although it is hard rock it has a little funky in it. Love Van Halen since the minute I heard them. Seventh grade, some kid had a cassette of their first album played it for me. I was just blown away. I could not even believe what I was hearing. Van Halen change the music. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
