What Nobody Tells You About How To Hit Driver Straight

  • Golfers struggle to hit driver straight because they are unaware of 3 small adjustments they need to make in the golf swing. In this golf video Danny Maude gets straight to the point and explains exactly what you need to do to hit driver straight.
At the start of the golf lesson Danny explains why a traditional style golf set-up actually prevents you from hitting the golf ball straight.
He then gives you a process to follow that will immediately start to straighten up any ball flight. Obviously on a golf course you don't want to be changing too much at once so the 3 golf tips are given in order of importance.
Golf Tip 1 takes the curve away while Golf Tip's 2 and 3 focus on making sure the golf ball set's off online so you hit the centre of the fairway.
Nobody seems to get told this and as a result spend years struggling to hit driver straight. I hope this helps you in your quest to be a better driver of a golf ball,

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On RUclips and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Danny, I just broke 90 for the first time last week (87 actually!), and so much of that was due to understanding “the circle” from your videos. I was able to hit 12/14 fairways, and keeping the ball in play has been game-changing for me.

About a year ago I had all sorts of problems with my driver set up from ball positioning to tee Hight. I was playing with some pretty decent golfers one day, one in particular could see my frustration and deteriorating lack of confidence. What I didn't notice was that I was not lining up the ball with the inside of my heel. In other words I was not taking the time to set up properly. He pointed this out as a basic fundamental and after a few holes I wasn't placing my shots way left, a big improvement. Interestingly in you lesson you adjusted your stance which is what I did also and I can say that most of my drives are now finding the fairway more consistently. Thanks, Danny, for this weeks lesson. You continue to instill confidence and valuable tuition to my game. Have a great week!

I remember there was a hole that I just struggled with. OB right side compounded with cart path and a left to right slope of the fairway. I would get to the hole and aim left and still slice right. Round after round, I would aim further left and go further right. I realized that while my feet were aligned left the ball was further back in my stance - hence hitting it early with the face open. This is a great representation of that issue. Proper alignment is so critical for good shots. Great vid.

The slicing explanation makes perfect sense. I recently realized that I have long been overestimating how forward the ball should be at set up. Perhaps my eyes playing tricks on me? In any case, once I started setting up with the ball a bit further back, my driving has been noticeably more consistent. This video is further validation! Thanks!

Danny I had been hitting a nice draw/straight driver for months, but recently I started hitting slices again and haven’t been able to figure out what I’m doing because I’m pretty sure (albeit I have no access to launch monitor numbers) I’ve been swinging from the inside with a relatively square face. Your visual at 1:18 just made it click in my head that I’ve been recently trying to hit it with the ball way too far forward in my stance. Amazing how the tiniest little thing can alter the shot shape so drastically! I’m excited to implement these teachings again at my next range session and hopefully see the same results you’re displaying here!

Your third tip explains why in his book Five Lessons by Ben Hogan how in one of the last pages he discusses ball position, and in the illustration he shows how with the driver he places his back foot a little bit back of the target line. He plays his ball just off his left foot with every shot, simply moving his right foot closer to the target line as the club gets shorter. Excellent tips, Danny, and I'll be saving this video in my Golf Videos folder for future reference.

THANK YOU! This was a total game changer for me, instant results. Ball went straight every time, and some even had a tiny bit of draw at the end. I've never hit so many tee shots to the left before in my life, lol. Now I need to work on aiming better and my short game.

Spotted this drill the other day, practiced it a few times in my garden setup. Took it to the course today and I could not believe the result. My very expensive Ai driver, which had been languishing in the corner of shame in my man cave after spearing balls continuously to the right, came out to play (it was destined for replacement) and worked beautifully! I had until now been forced into taking my 5w off the tee, trading distance for accuracy, not today. This apparently weird looking setup worked straight out the box. It does take a measure of courage to align yourself directly at a lake or OB on the RH side of the hole, but fear not, the ball struck the centre of the club face, and drew majestically into the fairway time after time, and as a result, the rest of my game, for the most part, fell into line. Thanks again for this top tip, I’m now a DM convert.👏🏼

Brilliant explanation, it just proves you sometimes need to think outside the square. Hence I’m a great slicer and have never ever thought to slightly aim right of target because I would think that is suicidal. Thanks it was well explained and I can’t wait to test it out, it may be my answer.

Thank you again , Danny. Your explanations of why things happen to the ball and how to correct them using swing pattern thing with balls placed around it was fantastic. The old saying " a picture is worth a thousand words" comes into play. Yes, the simple physics of club, ball position, and face angle is so revealing of what actually happens. I wish I had seen this a long tiime ago. I can't wait to get back out on the range and the course.

Danny, I am blown away. I chronically fade my driver. I get lucky and get straight shots sometimes but, never when it really seems to matter. I watched this, went straight to the driving range and I was consistently getting straight if not relatively or at least straight enough hits. I hit some draws, but almost no slices or fades. Still gonna take a little adjusting, but this is gonna be my new stance and swing. The first video I’ve watched where something actually worked when in comes to the slice or fade.

Thank you coach.... that was very impormative. My driver shot was as you described. I tried to compensate it by aiming to the LEFT of the target instead of what you said to the right. I tried closing the club face at set up but I aim it straight. As you know, those things made it worst. So I quit playing. I am glad that I came across your video, now I am ready to give it a try... thank you
