Do you struggle to hit driver straight, longer or both? Let me know below 👇 Also put the full practice plan for this video below www.dannymaude.com/practice-plans-detail?productId=why-90-of-golfers-cant-hit-driver-straight-or-long&widget=hidden
I'm content with my distance but erratic in terms of direction. I struggle to get the club face back to square consistently. In a typical round I seem to hit about 1/3 left, 1/3 right and 1/3 straight! I used to struggle with a slice. The slice can sometimes creep back into my game but most of my wayward shots are now usually a push or a pull.
I'm 70 years old. Started playing golf frequently 2 years ago. Initial rounds were 110 to 115. Several months in. I finally broke 100. Then broke 90. My lowest "real" (following USGA rules) score to date is 81. Looking to break 80 this year. Your lessons have been the cornerstone of my improvement. Thank you so much!
I couldn't agree more !! This single driver video has completely clarified the way I think about my swing and how to execute the correct feeling and motions. From the first swing after watching this video , the results have been baffling. In recent months I've just wanted to leave the driver at home. Now all I want to do is smoke driver off the tee. Thank you Danny , amazing lessons!
Whenever I start to get wayward with my drives I find myself coming back to this video. The visual and explanation of the swing circle is second to none. It all just clicks back in place better than anything else I can find. Danny, you’re absolutely the best around!
Danny I have been slicing for many years!! I finally got back into golf and for weeks I’ve been slicing the ball ran out of options. I implemented your technique today with opening my chest in my back swing and I hit the ball straight every single time! It was magic! Thank you!
After watching your videos I went to the range this evening and I noticed when I rotated back far enough I was blazing my drives down the middle but I have the hardest time keeping it going. It seems like the longer I'm there the more sloppy I get and start to forget what I'm doing....LOL This year I'm going to start spending more time on the range than on the golf coarse. Thank you for taking the time to teach us, you explain the swing and path in a way that I can really understand and it seems so simple. You have got to be the best swing coach on you tube and there are a lot of good coaches out there.
I've been playing golf for years but have only used driver for the last 5 or so and have always struggled with a slice. Despite having a strong grip, I struggle from both coming over the top, AND an open club face. I watched this video a couple of times and something in my mind clicked, so i went to the range yesterday. I gave this a go, swinging slow and started to hit straighter drives. I have a slight issue with the last part, the extension to make room, and i topped a few, but i think i just started leaning back too far. The key with this is patience and self control. I found that after a few straight ones, i naturally started swinging faster, but Danny warns that you need to grind this feeling first, before adding speed. I think I'll be perfectly happy swinging at 60%, coming up a bit shorter but hitting more fairways. I'm vowing to watch no more driver slice fix videos, as I'm going to stick to this for the new season.
I do tend to get wooden with my driver after a free flowing practice swing sometimes tense up when I’m about to take my actual swing being a senior golfer. It is really nice to see your dad in the videos to see what is actually achievable. Thanks Danny!
Wow! What a great video. So many golf teachers told me to extend in the follow through, but not one told my why. Danny, you nailed it for me in this video. Now I know what to practice for more power AND why. Thank you!!
This combined with the lesson with your Dad, is maybe the best driving lessons on the Net. It helped me add 15 needed yards. Thanks once again Danny…I was moving my shoulder level and not downward creating a circle of its own. I’ve never heard or have done that…Helped…
Absolutely love your last few week’s videos Danny and the easy explanation of the golf circle concept and how this has been developed - as a senior golfer it all makes sense not to be too regimented in your approach and just ‘let it go’ with the snap you refer to - just need to make sure you introduce the correct plane on the circle and the ‘low point’ and ‘shoulder circle’ advice has helped greatly!
This really boils it down well without being bogged down with too much information. I save a handful of golf vids for future use and this one made the list for sure.
Danny , I think you are the best golf instructor on RUclips! I enjoy the videos of you helping your dad , I’m 61 and like instruction geared towards us older guys who aren’t as limber as we used to be . Thanks so much
This lesson just helped me break out of what was over a year-long rut where my swing had fallen completely apart with driver. I was essentially doing all of the things described and corrected them as advised. So happy right now. Thank you.
Timely video for me. I was at the driving range yesterday and , like your dad, was slicing half of my drives. I think my follow through after I hit the ball cuts back to sharply. I will apply the lesson from this video on my next driving range trip.
Danny ... yet another great video with you and your dad. He won't be there forever, so enjoy your times right now. I am an avid fan, but I just couldn't seem to be consistent with my swing path. I went to my 'local' golf pro for a lesson. He showed me that I was actually swinging like a barrel around my waist.Inside out/YES ... but the wrong swing plane. We made several corrections, and I'm off and running again. At the end of the lesson, he left to get me a prop. In the meantime, I grabbed driver and made one swing on the golf computer. Rocketed down the middle of the fairway with a small draw. Bullseye!!! Not bad for a 69 y/o ... Keep up the good work!!
I am 75 and have lost a lot of distance with all of my clubs but especially with my driver. Like your Dad I'm barely getting more than 150 yards. I did watch the driver session you gave your Dad and saw how he gained some distance.. This video looks like it may be even more helpful. I have tried many different type of methods to help get some of the distance back. I usually end up trying to hit the ball instead of swinging through. Any of your other videos that you may think will help please let me know. I am subscribed to your site.
Great tip, Danny. I have a question though. Greetings from the USA, by the way! Question is How do I keep my lead arm straight? It is so frustrating and I really need help with this. I have struggled with this for years. I am one of those golfers who is left handed, but swings a club right handed. Some have told me that is a reason it makes it so difficult in releasing the club and creating extension but I can’t seem to figure it out. Mind you now this is when I am in the down swing. The lead arm “chicken wings and separates in my downswing. Please help!
Thanks again Danny! I’m a life time golf student. You’re one of the best you tube golf instructors. How do you keep your lead arm from collapsing during the backswing? I have a John Daly backswing forever…😂
Absolute key Danny. I find I get too involved in the process of the swing and lose what I’m trying to achieve. Become obsessed with the mechanics. Invariably when I loosen up. It works.
hello Danny, i have been watching your videos for over a year now (I picked up golf last year as a 44yr old). I love your vidoes. Things are so beautifully broken down and easy to understand. Above all that, you have this energy that you share which makes me want to grab a club and go hit some balls as soon as i finish a video - even if that is way past might night. Thanks a lot for all this amazing content that you keep putting out.
Thanks again for a great video Danny. I'm pretty straight with my driver, but I don't feel that my release and finish help me out. This gives me something to work at. Please keep up the great content. I always look forward to it.
OMG - I thought I’d watched all of your videos but this one got past me… i just love watching you help your dad with his game - very endearing AND relevant! I don’t have any “nuts” to “squeeze together”, but I’ll just use my imagination!! Wish me luck!
Thank you for another very helpful video. I appreciate your time & effort. Your dad's progress encourages senior golfers. You make a great combination. A valuable double partnership.
I just love the videos with your dad. He is so enthusiastic and patient. I’ve been dealing with plantar fasciitis for the last 6 months, and even thought I continued to play golf, I started protecting my left foot and began adjusting my swing to accommodate this. Now, my swing is a mess. Should I try to fix what I think is wrong, or just go back to the basic catapult lesson and start over. I used to shoot in the 80’s. Now I’m trying to break 100!! Your videos are so helpful.
Thank you Danny for this lesson !! I instituted your simple but outstanding information. I am a fader of the ball ( by design ) , I gained realistically 40 yards on my driver !! I began to draw the ball when I have NEVER hit a draw with my driver in my life !! I adjusted my shoulders and ball positions and hit the ball dead straight or a 5 yard fade . This was with no range time only swinging the club at home and alignment when I started to play !! Thank you again !!!!
Thinking “shoulder circle” makes a huge improvement to not swinging over the top. Everything seems to fall into the right place now. Your “nuts” technique also helped get me back on track. Thanks.
Danny, you have this wonderful ability to be able to intuitively know what it is I'm struggling with in my game. My driving has been worse than poor for the last couple of months, so I stopped playing and tried to figure out what was wrong. I had come to the conclusion that whilst my backswing was good, my follow through was restricted and tight. I was wondering how to work on that when up popped the lesson. Perfect. Thanks. As always, you hit the nail right on the head. The next session at the range will be to work on this.
What a great lesson, easy to understand. The visual lesson of the swing and body position is excellent. You're so correct in finding your rhythm, makes a big difference and it naturally smooths out your swing. I went from hitting the driver from 220 to 250 yards.
Danny I am pretty new to your channel. This lesson a light bulb went off! When you said "What do you think you need to do to your body… move it out of the way." I seriously dont have the words of excitement i had over that tip. It was truly amazing! Thank you and keep up the great and easy lessons.
A quick compliment. Usually on Monday morning at our golf course, someone will ask, "Did your see Danny's video this weekend?'. The positive discussion begins. You are highly respected by our membership. Thanks for the great videos.
Great explanation! Played for 6 years, 9 hcp, but never been able to handle a driver. Always tee off with 5fw or i3. You might actually have nailed it for me now. Will give it a go!
I'm in same position as your dad mate just got the callaway Rogue ST Max LS and haven't hit down middle yet just massive slice and low,, so going watch this few times before I go out tomorrow because it looks so easy to fi so why can't I get it, I will try squeeze me nuts 😜
I absolutely adore the way you teach. You take important concepts and break them down into chunks which are easy to practice and memorize. Your speech cadence is on point.
Best illustration of the flow of the swing I've seen. Love bringing your dad into the videos. I'm closer to his age than yours. Getting over a hip replacement now and can't wait to try this when the Dr oks me to start swinging.
Your lessons helped me to improve my game but I'm still struggling to set up the club face to the target line, can you do a video with irons and driver showing how to do it?
Thank you Danny I have been testing my strike out by using my 7 iron and only hitting very slowly and checking where the club face is in the impact area. Lots of variations. I checked out your video on the grip. Once I changed the grip I can feel much better when the club face is square. Now the ball is pinging off the middle. Grip can be overlooked
Dont take this the wrong but , i love you. You make it so simple and honestly if it doesnt worrk its because we the student are not applying the lesson. I have a tee time for this evening and i will be trying both this and your iron lesson. Great stuff coach.
Another brilliant one Danny. Played last week. Was cold, I had a bad back and was awful. Couldn't hit a thing!! This has inspired me to give it another good go this week. At least it's warmer!!!Thank you. I will get there!!!!
I understand that the ball position for driver should be by the front foot, but the irons will be more central . Is the ball position the same for all the irons, or does it depend on the iron that you're hitting, eg. 4 iron vs 9 iron. Is this going to be your next video? Many thanks Danny.
Not long for 1 million subscribers! Best online instruction available. Can’t wait to see your Dad launching those drives. Are you going to do any in course instruction with him?
I'm a new golfer. On the rare occasion when I wasn't slicing, my best drive was about 210 yds. An hour after watching this video, I went to a local simulator and couldn't believe the difference! My drives were much straighter and my distance was much longer. My best drive reached 284 yds! Thank you so much for this video. I still need a lot of practice and I'll be watching more of your videos to make the best of it.
I've been putting your recent lessons to work and it's really coming together. This seems like the final piece I need to improve my driving. Thanks again.
This is where I’m at with my driver just now. I’ve started hitting much straighter using some of your previous videos as the guide and now I would like to add distance and maintain the accuracy. Great explanation pure and simple thanks Danny!
Danny, your instruction is great for someone who is trying to fix their swing by themselves. You explain when and where to be and then let it go with rhythm, thank you sir for all your tips!
Thank you for explaining it so easily. Your videos always help me, and they also help me improve my English. Now I hope my body will listen to me... Have a nice day. Thanks again from Spain
I have been golfing for approx 10 years and have battled the slice the whole time I have taken lessons and everyone of them have been different. I have strengthend my grip and that made a little difference i have more of a heavy fade but still slice from time to time. Do you have a video with a drill of this video that will help with this? I am 56 and a little "pudgy" not sure if that is affecting my swing as well.
Thanks - your videos are amazing! after watching them I feel like going to range immediately and repeat what you show))) I like very much the style - easy to absorb. However in this particular issue I clearly see another source of your power - how you transfer your weight, but you did not mention it. i guess without it there will be no distance.
Thank you Danny….I really enjoy your teaching style…..after watching the videos with your dad….it all made sense….practised for a few days on the range…..presto. Shot a gross 74 today. Not bad for a 70 year old….lol
Hi Danny just for your feedback i have seen so many videos and lots of yours it took some time but today i went over your set up routines for driver and irons also the does and don'ts again and it clicked i found what was wrong with my swing although i must say we cant copy you because your very athletic and flexible so its up to use to cherry pick what works as i have just done. My problem has been should i sway, twist, jump up and down well two important things for me first not to rotate torso and shoulders through the shot this cause me to push left and hook also the back swing KEY the lifting of the arms instead of rotation out of correct swing plan also timing the release right through the ball was giving me such good results still need to improve on my aim but i am a happy bunny. cheers mate
Haven't been able to play for a couple of months, but before the break I had an awful slice of the tee!. The last lesson with the circle and setup was a revelation, but then you showed your dad getting in his own way on the release, and I felt an instant recognition, that's me!!! As soon as I can get to the range I have got to try this, thank you👏👏👏🏌️
If I could just follow your directions correctly, it would be great. 😅 You're still helping me tremendously. Your instructions are understandable and appreciated.
Wow if you could see me Im giving you a standing ovation clapping as if I've heard Mozart play for me in person !! a work of art!! @Danny Maude there are a lot of instructors on RUclips but not all can impart information efficiently, clearly and precisely in a way that it can make sense to the recipient . You sir have a gift of teaching that has all the above mentioned Qualities . First time the driver swings mechanics have made complete sense. maybe now I can let go of my swing dyslexia . I will have to watch this several more times
I get the full circle ⭕️ and swing speed matters - what about on tight fairways? How do you adjust or tone it down for accuracy to ensure you stay inbounds?
Excellent! Is there a connection between the inclination of the circle of the shoulder turn with the circle of the club head? Or how do you feel about this shoulder circle? You direct your left shoulder down towards the ball?
Great Video Danny all goes well building up whoosh and high finish and good club speed and circle. But when trying with ball on tee I find it really difficult to get through to finish and a massive speed reduction from practice swing and circle not completed. I find myself stopping club head at about shoulder height. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance and keep the tips coming.
Great video Danny. My main issue is that when I try to put some force into the drive I shank it left. Are there any tips to be more aware of keeping the right distance from the ball. I am.a senior but very subtle.
Danny, I'm happy to report that, thanks to you, I absolutely smashed my driver today. It was the best feeling I have had since I caught that bug back in October. I feel confident now that I can go out and play a round and maybe break 100.
Great video again Danny a in-depth description of what you did with your dad. The circle analogy definitely shows me where I’ve been swinging and it’s not pretty 😅
The distance discussion at around 7:00 is fantastic. Well described. I struggle with starting my swing too quickly (casting) and then I struggle to get the club back to ball with any power. The rhythm description is so important. Timing is everything.
Brilliant as always, I've been practicing extension and your excellent video has shown me my error, (space)give your self space to swing through,Thanks AllanW
When I was 22 yrs. old I bought my first lesson from our assistant club pro for $20 for 45 min. He said, "Trust your triangle, and trust your left side." I had no idea what that meant, but after 45 minutes I was hitting draws with my 9 iron (I still can't believe it). That lesson is echoed by everything you just laid out. I love your channel. Thank you from me and my 12 yr. old son.
Brilliant as usual Danny! At address with driver should my hands be ahead like I would with an iron? I feel like my drivers are very low at the minute cause of this.
Danny thank you for the Circle pictorials. I have really benefited from realizing there are multiple circles within the larger total swing. My thoughts are more focused on the circle of my shoulders and this has definitely improved iron impact and driver swing speed.
Rhythm of the swing sounds so simple to remember when standing over the ball. Thanks as usual Danny. I will put that to practice tomorrow on the course.
Great video, thanks . I feel my shoulders are “hunched” as though I am reaching too far when using driver and wondering if I should try pulling them back, which will lower where my hands and bring them closer.
Hi Danny, Love this! I will try this the next time I go to the range. Is the follow thru extension (getting your chest out of the way) the same with irons?
I think you did a video some time ago with the driver upside down to exaggerate the "whoosh" sound in the hitting area. This really emphasised that. 👏. Good stuff DM.
Great explanation. My issue isn’t getting low on the shot. My issue is trying to get my weight forward while the body is leaning back. I can try working on this set up and swing circle but if all of my weight stays on my trail foot the results are terrible and I almost never hit anywhere near the centre of the clubface. Even on the rare occasions I do I tend to hit a very low shot.
I know I’m watching this 4 mo late, but omg, you nailed it, Danny. I have. Semi-circle! I pull my arms in and end up on my tippy toes. I’ve been stuck a 92 swing speed and top out at 230 yd drives. Can’t wait to practice tomorrow!
Do you struggle to hit driver straight, longer or both? Let me know below 👇 Also put the full practice plan for this video below www.dannymaude.com/practice-plans-detail?productId=why-90-of-golfers-cant-hit-driver-straight-or-long&widget=hidden
Any tips on how 2 stop hitting the heel of the driver?? I'm lost
Lol Danny might be able to create his own soothing golf mix with those swings he made us listen to.
Hi Danny, This lesson is great but why is it my practice swing always feels and looks better than when I swing once I am over the ball? Cheers Ian

let’s go man!
He's the best coach on RUclips well worth my sub
That's mental progress
I've watched your lessons every week for two years now Danny, and this is one of the best driver lessons you've ever shown! Keep up the great work

I just worked on the same routine with my pro. It‘s very helpful to watch your video before I go to the Driving Range. Love your tips!

Have fun Alan, hope you are keeping well
Best instructor on RUclips. Excellent lesson Danny! Not following through with that whip is exactly why I only hit it 230-240yrds.
Look forward to hearing how far you hit it Robert
Thanks for great videos and in person lesson. How do I stop the Centre of the circle from moving up and down?
What a great lesson, easy to understand. The visual lesson of the swing and body position is excellent.
You're so correct in finding your rhythm, makes a big difference and it naturally smooths out your swing.
I went from hitting the driver from 220 to 250 yards.
Amazing! Well done Frank
Danny I am pretty new to your channel. This lesson a light bulb went off! When you said "What do you think you need to do to your body… move it out of the way." I seriously dont have the words of excitement i had over that tip. It was truly amazing! Thank you and keep up the great and easy lessons.
Fantastic video. I’ve discovered the shoulder circle is critical to get my weight transferred towards my lead foot at the top of my swing. Brilliant!!
Glad it was helpful Rob
A quick compliment. Usually on Monday morning at our golf course, someone will ask, "Did your see Danny's video this weekend?'. The positive discussion begins. You are highly respected by our membership. Thanks for the great videos.
Once again mate clear and simple instructions, thanks again
Thank you Scott
Great explanation! Played for 6 years, 9 hcp, but never been able to handle a driver. Always tee off with 5fw or i3. You might actually have nailed it for me now. Will give it a go!
You can do it Pontus
That was a great lesson for your dad and me great times with your dad enjoy every minute it’s fleeting have a great week with your golf and Dad
Thank you! You too!
I'm in same position as your dad mate just got the callaway Rogue ST Max LS and haven't hit down middle yet just massive slice and low,, so going watch this few times before I go out tomorrow because it looks so easy to fi so why can't I get it, I will try squeeze me nuts 😜
As a very new golfer your material has been invaluable Danny, thank you for all you do for people of all skill levels!
I absolutely adore the way you teach. You take important concepts and break them down into chunks which are easy to practice and memorize. Your speech cadence is on point.
Really kind of you to feedback Alex
Best illustration of the flow of the swing I've seen. Love bringing your dad into the videos. I'm closer to his age than yours. Getting over a hip replacement now and can't wait to try this when the Dr oks me to start swinging.
All the best Robert
Your lessons helped me to improve my game but I'm still struggling to set up the club face to the target line, can you do a video with irons and driver showing how to do it?
Thank you Danny
I have been testing my strike out by using my 7 iron and only hitting very slowly and checking where the club face is in the impact area.
Lots of variations. I checked out your video on the grip. Once I changed the grip I can feel much better when the club face is square. Now the ball is pinging off the middle.
Grip can be overlooked
It really can Jonathan
Dont take this the wrong but , i love you. You make it so simple and honestly if it doesnt worrk its because we the student are not applying the lesson. I have a tee time for this evening and i will be trying both this and your iron lesson. Great stuff coach.
Thanks Kalevra 😁
Another brilliant one Danny. Played last week. Was cold, I had a bad back and was awful. Couldn't hit a thing!! This has inspired me to give it another good go this week. At least it's warmer!!!Thank you. I will get there!!!!
I understand that the ball position for driver should be by the front foot, but the irons will be more central . Is the ball position the same for all the irons, or does it depend on the iron that you're hitting, eg. 4 iron vs 9 iron. Is this going to be your next video? Many thanks Danny.
Yes moves slightly further back for each iron. I do vary this depending on my students tendency to slice or hook
Not long for 1 million subscribers! Best online instruction available. Can’t wait to see your Dad launching those drives. Are you going to do any in course instruction with him?
Thank you, really hoping to create a Break 85 series with him on the course
@@DanielMaude sounds like a realistic goal given the swing progress. I’m sure I won’t be the only one looking out for the notifications.
That’s amazing Scott, well done
I've been putting your recent lessons to work and it's really coming together. This seems like the final piece I need to improve my driving. Thanks again.
Love to hear how you get on
Great video Danny. 3 more months and I can give this a go here in Canada. Can't wait. Thank you 😊
All the best 😁
Awesome lesson. I'm a high school golf coach and I can't wait to share it with them as well as my brothers who struggle with their drivers.
Hope it helps Jim
In my view, Danny is one of the best and most personable coach on RUclips. Enjoy all your sessions.
Really kind of you to feedback Umesh 🙏
This is where I’m at with my driver just now. I’ve started hitting much straighter using some of your previous videos as the guide and now I would like to add distance and maintain the accuracy.
Great explanation pure and simple thanks Danny!
Danny, your instruction is great for someone who is trying to fix their swing by themselves. You explain when and where to be and then let it go with rhythm, thank you sir for all your tips!
Thank you for explaining it so easily. Your videos always help me, and they also help me improve my English. Now I hope my body will listen to me... Have a nice day. Thanks again from Spain
All the best Toni
You make me so enthusiastic to hit the range every time! Don't stop the videos, I love them!!
Really kind of you to feedback 🙏
I have been golfing for approx 10 years and have battled the slice the whole time I have taken lessons and everyone of them have been different. I have strengthend my grip and that made a little difference i have more of a heavy fade but still slice from time to time. Do you have a video with a drill of this video that will help with this? I am 56 and a little "pudgy" not sure if that is affecting my swing as well.
Check these two lessons out:

Thanks - your videos are amazing! after watching them I feel like going to range immediately and repeat what you show))) I like very much the style - easy to absorb. However in this particular issue I clearly see another source of your power - how you transfer your weight, but you did not mention it. i guess without it there will be no distance.
Thank you Danny….I really enjoy your teaching style…..after watching the videos with your dad….it all made sense….practised for a few days on the range…..presto. Shot a gross 74 today. Not bad for a 70 year old….lol
Wow that’s amazing Jim well done
@@DanielMaude thank you….only problem is that my handicap has been cut to 6…onward and upward
My problem has been should i sway, twist, jump up and down well two important things for me first not to rotate torso and shoulders through the shot this cause me to push left and hook also the back swing KEY the lifting of the arms instead of rotation out of correct swing plan also timing the release right through the ball was giving me such good results still need to improve on my aim but i am a happy bunny.
cheers mate
Thanks Stephen happy to hear the routines have helped you 😁👍
Haven't been able to play for a couple of months, but before the break I had an awful slice of the tee!. The last lesson with the circle and setup was a revelation, but then you showed your dad getting in his own way on the release, and I felt an instant recognition, that's me!!!
As soon as I can get to the range I have got to try this, thank you👏👏👏🏌️
Great video today! Will be working on that swing circle!
Have fun Eric
Thanks Danny. You are truly a Golf Doctor. You can fix any swing.
I love it
If I could just follow your directions correctly, it would be great. 😅
You're still helping me tremendously.
That’s so kind of you to take the time to feedback
I get the full circle ⭕️ and swing speed matters - what about on tight fairways? How do you adjust or tone it down for accuracy to ensure you stay inbounds?
Excellent! Is there a connection between the inclination of the circle of the shoulder turn with the circle of the club head? Or how do you feel about this shoulder circle? You direct your left shoulder down towards the ball?
There is, but the main role of the show the turn is to bring the club around the body. The main role of the arms is to take the club upwards.
Thanks! That lesson was the best 10 bucks I ever spent.
That’s really kind thank you
Great Video Danny all goes well building up whoosh and high finish and good club speed and circle. But when trying with ball on tee I find it really difficult to get through to finish and a massive speed reduction from practice swing and circle not completed. I find myself stopping club head at about shoulder height. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance and keep the tips coming.
Very common, realise that we collect the ball on the swing circle. We don’t just hit at the ball
Great video Danny. My main issue is that when I try to put some force into the drive I shank it left. Are there any tips to be more aware of keeping the right distance from the ball. I am.a senior but very subtle.
What a great lesson, I just watched it 3 times in a row. Great stuff.
Hope it helps Suzie
Danny, I'm happy to report that, thanks to you, I absolutely smashed my driver today. It was the best feeling I have had since I caught that bug back in October. I feel confident now that I can go out and play a round and maybe break 100.
Brilliant well done 😁
I keep coming back to this video. This covers so much, so simply. Amazing. Thank you! 🙏🏻
Pleasure 👍
The suggestion on how to move the lead shoulder is really helpful. Thank you.
Thanks Rory 👍
Great video again Danny a in-depth description of what you did with your dad. The circle analogy definitely shows me where I’ve been swinging and it’s not pretty 😅
The distance discussion at around 7:00 is fantastic. Well described. I struggle with starting my swing too quickly (casting) and then I struggle to get the club back to ball with any power. The rhythm description is so important. Timing is everything.
Brilliant as always, I've been practicing extension and your excellent video has shown me my error, (space)give your self space to swing through,Thanks AllanW
Pleasure Allan
When I was 22 yrs. old I bought my first lesson from our assistant club pro for $20 for 45 min. He said, "Trust your triangle, and trust your left side." I had no idea what that meant, but after 45 minutes I was hitting draws with my 9 iron (I still can't believe it). That lesson is echoed by everything you just laid out. I love your channel. Thank you from me and my 12 yr. old son.
I love these weekly vids to keep proper swing techniques. Smooth swing and accelerate through the ball, swoosh!
Glad you like them Howard
Brilliant as usual Danny! At address with driver should my hands be ahead like I would with an iron? I feel like my drivers are very low at the minute cause of this.
You could have them level or behind the ball. Just recognise that the more behind the ball it is the more the swing circle will head left
Danny thank you for the Circle pictorials. I have really benefited from realizing there are multiple circles within the larger total swing. My thoughts are more focused on the circle of my shoulders and this has definitely improved iron impact and driver swing speed.
That’s wonderful to hear Daniel
Rhythm of the swing sounds so simple to remember when standing over the ball. Thanks as usual Danny. I will put that to practice tomorrow on the course.
Hello! Great video! Is this shoulder turn with the left shoulder moving to the right applicable for irons as well? Love your videos!
Great video, thanks . I feel my shoulders are “hunched” as though I am reaching too far when using driver and wondering if I should try pulling them back, which will lower where my hands and bring them closer.
It’s ok to have your shoulders slightly hunched but your arms shouldn’t be stretched away from the body just hanging down
Hi Danny, Love this! I will try this the next time I go to the range. Is the follow thru extension (getting your chest out of the way) the same with irons?
Absolutely, some will feel they feel more over the ball with the irons at strike but you must always extend at some point
I think you did a video some time ago with the driver upside down to exaggerate the "whoosh" sound in the hitting area. This really emphasised that. 👏. Good stuff DM.
I did Graham, thank you
Great explanation.
This is the video I was looking for today 👌👍
Hope you enjoyed it Jamie
in all dead ball sports timing the strike is key and this highlights it perfectly another great video dan
Hope it helps
Worked on this in part with my coach yesterday, great recap this morning, also compressing and extending the sides of core (torso) - T'Dah 🤠😎
Simple and easy to understand technique and well elaboration.
Best driver video I've ever seen! Very helpful, thanks.
Happy to help Charles 👍
