Yup. First three albums are solid as hell. Some people like to lump No4 in with those, but I really think they are better looked at as some sort of classic STP tri fecta
@@azff Yes they were, grunge is characterized for the absence of solos and strident and fast solos, even they sometimes wrote sorts of ballads like Atlanta, Pearl Jam´s black, Nirvana's Something in the way, etc. And also grunge bands unlike hard rock bands they didn´t care about the way they dressed.
Underrated my ass. They won a Grammy award, headlined shows, won best new band of the year in Spin magazine, three triple platinum records in a row... MTV gave them a lot of attention. When were they ever underrated?
Makes me truly happy to see Scott smiling like this. Forever miss you, Scott. I never had the luck to see you live but you and your band have brought so much happiness to my life.
Stephanie Dantzler I feel quite happy finally seeing & hearing this. They sounded amazing & this is a gorgeous, rare acoustic version of a song they performed so few times at all.
Out of many great artists that have passed before their time I miss Scott the most. I think he had truly so much more to do. The band is so good as well.
Kudos to Howard for having so many terrific guests over the years. This STP acoustic version is superb, they looked and sounded great. Sad it didn't last. Due to many issues they didn't last like the Stone who are still rocking and rolling in their sixties and seventies making me and many fans happy. RIP Scott........
These guys never stopped evolving and taking bits and pieces from the past and placing them into novel new visions. The DeLeo brothers were instrumental in all of this.
I still remember hearing that album when it came out and how much I loved it! The "grunge" tag of their first 2 albums came off because of the more 60s pop production .. Still love it to this day and "Lady Picture Show" is one my favorite STP songs.
So good. I remember seeing them back in 1994 at the new haven coliseum with the meat puppets and just being in complete awe of their live performance. Sad I won’t see them live again ever, but thankful for the wonderful memory of that killer show and internet gems like this
Lucky! I would trade seeing them in 2002 to see them in 1994. They played very well but I definitely felt the bad tension within the band from the front row and of course that was the year they broke up. They did play all the hits but I really wanted to hear them play the rare songs like Army Ants, Glide, Sin, and a bunch of others. They were really great live!
STP received so much criticism when they came out with the core album. Even when I was younger I could hear something distinctively different between all of the “grunge bands”. STP has always been one of my all-time favorite bands from this era
I was at the beginning of my senior year in HS when this came out. Magical times and magical music. This one was always a mastery for me as a guitarist back then, before you could find anything and everything on the internet. I tried my best, though, and I had a blast trying. Great times.
YES YES YES. I waited for this for YEARS. It was the same day as the Letterman perfomance. Weeks later Scott went to Rehab and the tour was cancelled. Very rare footage from the Tiny Music era
Does anyone remember when this cd came out lots of rumours that scott was out and they got a new singer. Anyway I remember listening to the cd day it came out and actually believing it because scott sounded so different at first. Now I look back and cant believe it but at the same time it was slight vocal change in tone and style.
I love STP! "Tiny Music..." really showcased their musical influences and sensibilities which made their songwriting much better. Bottomline is whatever genre they have played together whether its straightedge grunge, poprock or blues-inspired, they all turned out great. Definitely of of my top bands ever. 🤘⭐🍺
1991 for me... Or maybe 1995. I debate this with myself all the time.. but the 90's was good up until 1997... The 90's died when Soundgarden and Faith no More broke up in my opinion.
They were such a powerhouse when they came out. Whole albums were good, Not just a few songs off of each album
Agreed
@@silkywellman315 x2!
Scott really loved making music.
Yup. First three albums are solid as hell. Some people like to lump No4 in with those, but I really think they are better looked at as some sort of classic STP tri fecta
Yes. Purple is especially an album where you press play and let it play through
Reading lyrics you wrote off of an official copy of your own platinum selling cassette is pretty fucking rock n roll
Even his many problems. Scott had a wonderful voice and sang like an angel.
Scott looks completely wiped here. Heartbreaking how he struggled for so long. Love you, Scott.
Grunge bands were truly something special and should have deserved more respect for their contributions to the music industry.
I was thinking the same thing the other day. I think a lot of these bands like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc., don’t get the respect they deserve.
They weren't a grunge band.
Exactly
@@azff Yes they were, grunge is characterized for the absence of solos and strident and fast solos, even they sometimes wrote sorts of ballads like Atlanta, Pearl Jam´s black, Nirvana's Something in the way, etc. And also grunge bands unlike hard rock bands they didn´t care about the way they dressed.
Seriously hear it's Beatles influence. Miss you Scott. Love you brother
The chorus 100%
Yeah reminds me of Across The Universe.
Definitely alot of Beatles in that song.
Can absolutely hear the Beatles bonafide infulental artistic inspiration in this beautiful ballad.
Scott loved The Beatles
No auto tune in 96....no mumbling... talent IS crystal clear.
I remember the morning they played this. Those were good days. 🤘🏽🤟🏽✌🏽
They absolutely were 💙
One of if not the most underrated bands. So good.
Underrated my ass. They won a Grammy award, headlined shows, won best new band of the year in Spin magazine, three triple platinum records in a row... MTV gave them a lot of attention. When were they ever underrated?
They were really big in that era and they remain my favorite band ever. There are so many great bands but only one STP
So beatlessque. One of the best bands ever.
Back at a time when bands could play live acoustic versions, and still sound AWESOME!
Scott has the same look in his eyes that he had in 2015 here. Troubled person - beautiful soul. You’ll be missed forever ❤️
I heard this live the morning it aired and I immediately thought of late-Beatles era Paul McCartney.
John Tustin... I agree whole heartedly.
John Tustin very white album era McCartney vocal melody on this
Really? I hear George Harrison Norwegian Wood
Totally
Makes me truly happy to see Scott smiling like this.
Forever miss you, Scott. I never had the luck to see you live but you and your band have brought so much happiness to my life.
I'm very sad when I see this. You could see the hurt in his eyes. If he only. I miss him very much.
Stephanie Dantzler I feel quite happy finally seeing & hearing this. They sounded amazing & this is a gorgeous, rare acoustic version of a song they performed so few times at all.
Great upload. Tiny Music is my personal favorite STP album - still on heavy rotation in 2020!
Same. Was their opus IMO
It's a great album.
Out of many great artists that have passed before their time I miss Scott the most.
I think he had truly so much more to do. The band is so good as well.
What a gorgeous voice, an angelic rock spirit!! Miss u Scott

No joke crying like a baby over here. Takes my breath away.
These guys never stopped evolving and taking bits and pieces from the past and placing them into novel new visions. The DeLeo brothers were instrumental in all of this.
Classic song from album Tiny Music: Music from the Vatican Gift Shop. Great performance! Awesome of Stern to have these guys on.
One of the best albums ever.
Voice of an angel
Scott handles that voice in an awesome way
With all of these classic Howard performances coming out on RUclips it's apparent Howard has great taste in music.
I still remember hearing that album when it came out and how much I loved it! The "grunge" tag of their first 2 albums came off because of the more 60s pop production .. Still love it to this day and "Lady Picture Show" is one my favorite STP songs.

i too attended a gig at the defunct New Haven Coliseum. Tool were in town. it must have been the Lateralus tour.
Look at all that talent sitting in one room!
Man I miss the 90's when musicians still gave a shit!
Great song one of my favorite bands of the 90s rip scott
I couldn't sleep, it's 3'20 am.Feeling a little lonely. Just came here to find something to love. Cheers boys.
STP received so much criticism when they came out with the core album. Even when I was younger I could hear something distinctively different between all of the “grunge bands”. STP has always been one of my all-time favorite bands from this era
Funny thing is if you listen to the Mighty Joe Young demos they had that sound before Pearl Jam existed.
Scotts voice was amazing
One of my favorites of all time
I was at the beginning of my senior year in HS when this came out. Magical times and magical music. This one was always a mastery for me as a guitarist back then, before you could find anything and everything on the internet. I tried my best, though, and I had a blast trying. Great times.
The argument that can't be won, but in my personal opinion Scott had the most beautiful voice of the 'grunge' era.
this is so beautiful
Scott.. .my heart aches that you are gone. 💔
Nice performance. That 12-string sounds marvelous
Thanks for posting. Very sad to see such an amazing talent fall to pieces😥
nice--got your reference there
YES YES YES. I waited for this for YEARS. It was the same day as the Letterman perfomance. Weeks later Scott went to Rehab and the tour was cancelled. Very rare footage from the Tiny Music era
One of the best bands ever... Scott will always be a legend.
Great Scott...voice of an angel... so much missed...
I love this version of the song! Such amazing talent!!!! RIP Scott! Say hi to Layne, Chris, Chester & Kurt for me!

Great album, great song. Thank you for uploading this
I was a huge Stern fan growing up and I'm so, so angry that today is the first time I'm hearing this. Absolutely lovely. RIP Scott Weiland.
Incredible performance! Had no idea they were on Howard this early in their career!
?? They had been around for years at this point and were huge.
Early? Lol
they where famous since 1991/92
Early 😂
His voice in this version... GREAT! RIP Scott!
Saw them at the old soma s in San Diego in the early nineties they were so powerful wish could have seen them again
Such a talent and sorely missed 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Is he reading the lyrics from the sleeve of their own cassette tape?
LMAO that's what I thought
Erik Tobin yes while he was probably hung over as hell. Shows how effortless singing was for him.
Yeap :')

Home Boy certainly could hit the high note. Great song and performance.
Scott Weiland = Forever Rock God
Love this. Didn't listen to them until 20 years after this. Raw talent and looks before drugs. Was gorgeous.....

I really don´t know why, but I still loving this song.....that video, THAT woman in the video!
Such a beautiful song.
Does anyone remember when this cd came out lots of rumours that scott was out and they got a new singer. Great band

Scott is missed, this is excellent
Amazing

I met a wizard, he said I will cast a spell that will send you to any year you choose to live forever, I choose 1996.
Jeff Hulett OMG I always keep saying the same thing! Best year ever! 👍
I'd say 92
96 was special
Alternative music at its fuckin peak!
1991 for me... Or maybe 1995. I debate this with myself all the time.. but the 90's was good up until 1997... The 90's died when Soundgarden and Faith no More broke up in my opinion.
He looked healthy here , wish he would have gotten help for himself and his children and family. RIP Scott
Like he never left
Scott went missing 1 week after this I think...it's sad he was so good.
