Thanks. We are proud of what we were able to do but we are especially grateful to be home safe and to have had wonderful adventure free of injury or serious incident. We're so glad that you and a lot of others enjoyed the videos.
Thank you for talking me on your cross canada a journey. You both have be come friends and have give me a reason to get back on my bikes and ride ride Thanks again for bringing me along on your bike trip.🚴🚴🏽♀️🚴♂️🇨🇦🚴♂️👏👏👏
I am leaving in 2 weeks, leaving Vancouver and bikepacking East, I have 5 weeks to make it as far as I can. Thanks for the great videos throughout summer, it was fun to follow along.
Would love to see an epilogue to your epilogue on what you learned. Specifically, what would you do differently and what really worked. My wife and I are both retired and long distance tourers as well and enjoy any advice that others cab pass on from their own experiences. Thanks. And, Happy Trails, always.
Great suggestion! We are taking some time to wrap things up. Im sure that we'll do a "lessons-learned" just between ourselves and probably post our thoughts on our blog. If they're helpful for others we might film a video. Thanks!
You ABSOLUTELY have to go to Newfoundland! It was the only province we hadn't visited until we went on a 3 week road trip this summer and it was amazing! We tent camped at 3 provincial parks and 3 national parks on this trip (the 3rd being Cape Breton Highlands on the way back) and we hiked 2 to 3 trails a day. We went from Port Aux Basques all the way to St. John's and back with offshoots along the way to Bottle Cove, Gros Morne, Cow Head, Trout RIver, Twillingate, Fogo Island, Bonavista and visited some puffin colonies, did whale watching, got up for sunrise at Cape Spear. It was the trip of a lifetime. From Ottawa our total driving was 8000km!
@@Shannon_Marco_Travel JT Cheeseman Provincial Park (not too far from the ferry with a nice sand dune beach), Blow Me Down Provincial Park (super cheap and DRY firewood and close to Bottle Cove - hike to the ridge!), waterfront site at Lomond Campground in Gros Morne NP, Dildo Run Provincial Park (don't recommend this one but near Twillingate), Malady Head Campground in Terra Nova NP (its smaller, newer and much quieter than the one by the visitor centre) We also noticed that there are tons of municipal campgrounds, with some being free too!
I know the place you are talking about. That is near Manotick. These locks are farther south on the Rideau Canal. Merrickville is a beautiful little town and the locks are a lovely, peaceful place to camp. $5 per person if you get there before 4pm (which we didn’t). Free camping with washroom if you arrive late (no shower but you can swim in the lock if you are up for it).
I road all the way to my cottage with my uncle so we started in Oshawa than we road spent the night in Hastings than the next day we headed towards havelock and we road through some rain than waited for the rain pass after we just kept going so the first day was 108km than the day was 80km
Do you have a route laid out along with the stop overs at motels and provincial parks. I am slowly going through each video and writing down the details of route and stop overs.
Hey Jim, Shannon is currently documenting the route (roads and highways) that we took and she'll add it to our blog. It will take her a few days though.
Are you able to shop for groceries using your bicycles, in your everyday life? I saw a RUclips video of somebody in London Ontario using their cargo ebike to transport groceries from Costco to their home.
Unfortunately not, we live about 20km from a grocery store...just not that practical. In our non-cycling life we drive an EV so we aren't burning gas and we grow our own veggies.
Thank you for sharing your ride. I felt I was almost there along with you. Well done and congratulations on a wonderful achievement.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. It was fun making and sharing them.
Great story and for sure very proud you must be. Thanks for sharing and producing these videos. Joy and inspiration for others

What a great adventure, thanks for taking us along!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Woohoo!!!! Riding up your driveway must have felt so good. Congratulations🎉
Thanks! So fun to ride all the way to our doorstep (and see that everything was in good shape).

Thanks Barrie! That was a heartwarming comment. We're so pleased we could inspire and encourage others to get out there. Stay safe!
Congratulations!! Love your videos.

I hope you have as much luck as we had! Plan to pack enough warm clothing for the nights. It is already below 10C here. Be safe!

Sounds amazing and exactly what we're hoping to do. Which campgrounds did you stay at?

@@FoundPonds Thanks so much! Glad to hear about the municipal sites, too. Those can be great.
Great idea about newfoundland! I believe we camped at the locks too. Is that south of Ottawa by the rcmp campground?
