Starro’s last words, “I was happy - floating, staring at the stars,” is extremely heavy within context of the film and the reveal that the U.S. was to blame the whole time. This script was top tier man. And as always, great reaction my dude ✊🏽
kind of a big freaking plot hole tho! why didnt he just have the mindcontrolled astronauts open the hatch? :p
@@schnerpify Starro is weak at that time though
That’s the best line in the movie IMO
As a Portuguese, it really made me proud to see Ratcatcher and the actress getting so much love internationally.
Well, she's wife material
She a big deal over there ?
@@sebswede9005 she’s my wife
plus she really slept a lot on the set, so they called her Napcatcher while making the movie and they put that in there as she sleeps a lot.
Ikr! This is apparently Daniela Melchior's very first major motion picture role as well! And she knocked it out of the park!
Fun fact, when Harley used her feet to unlock her chains, that was actually Margot Robbie really doing that. Also the main enemy Starro, is actually the first villain the justice league fought in the comics, so its a classic
I also read that she did it on the first try. Which is insane.
I also guarantee you both that neither of those things are true.
@@gingerbaker_toad696 i mean the director said it, so its most likely true
@@toxichawk5752 suuuuree
Its very simple to lie.. especially in lollywood
@@gingerbaker_toad696 lie or not, its the word of someone on set vs someone in a comment section.
Starro was the reason the Justice League formed in comics, one of his little stars was kept in a jar to be studied, he was named Jarro and even spent time as Batman's Robin, had a cute little outfit with a cape and everything.
Comic books sure are something else...
i thought this was a joke, it's actually true lol
@@shigii Whenever someone makes a video on all the characters who took the name and costume of Robin they always forget about Jarro. I actually like some of the Batman & Robin pairs that don't have Bruce, Dick Grayson as Batman & Damien Wayne as his Robin was great and the new pair of Damien as Batman with Cassandra Cain as Robin works really well too.
@@shigii Former Robin Tim Drake has recently started wearing the Batman Beyond suit, he'll need a Robin too, maybe Harley could squeeze into the outfit, she'd be a fun Robin.
I say it every time but the way Peacemaker kills the sleeping guy on the table is so fucking funny
Waller put all the returning characters (Harley, Flag, and Boomerang) on the distraction team. She really wanted to erase all evidence of the first movie.
She also wanted to kill the members of the team who fucked with her....
I really hope DC continues to allow the directors to create what they want the way Gunn did. DC’s characters lend themselves well to insane stories like this, so I’m really excited for the future of their films.
I'm thinking Gunn will come back and stick with the DCU after he's done with Guardians 3. This Universe was made for him and he'd be the perfect guy to "take over" what Snyder was going to be
Great news gunn is doing secret DC project
Best DC comic movie after Dark Knight trilogy. Hope the direction of future movies is similar to this one.
Hopefully Gunn does more work with them post peacemaker gotg3, this movie was a blast. Shame the pandemic completely killed it’s box office. Hope that doesn’t scare them away from Gunn making another movie if he wants to.
@@StopReadingMyNameOrElse No, the problem was making Snyder in charge of a giant universe don’t make the same mistake
Bloodsport's role in the film was supposed to Will Smith reprising as Deadshot. They couldn't make it work, so the part was redone to Bloodsport to leave the possibility of Smith coming back later.
be*
Thank God for that. I love Idris Elba's Bloodsport.
They confirmed Bloodsports role and plot was its own thing not just copied from Deadshot. Deadshot wasn't even written into the script when they found out Will wouldn't be back.
"Starfish is slang for a butthole. Any connection?" LMAO John Cena is hilarious😂😂

I still can't believe just _how much_ I ended up loving Ratcatcher II. I fully *adore* her. She's the heart of this film, through and through.
Same and Sebastian never would have thought.
Well you’re exactly right my friend! James Gunn was quoted saying “Ratcatcher 2 is the heart and soul of the film” so spot on my friend!!
Fun fact: James Gunn googled "who is the dumbest supervillain of all time?" and that's how he found Polka Dot Man
Aww no, poor Polkie
Googled*
@@smoky7451 Another fun fact: It was referenced in a deleted scene, after Ratcatcher 2 and Polka Dot Man leave the bar with Thinker, they realize King Shark leave the van and while Ratcatcher 2 looks for him, Polka Dot Man talk with The Thinker and the Thinker mentions about googling who is the dumbest supervillain of all time and that Polka Dot man was the first result, in a attempt to manipulate Polka Dot man to let him go but Polka Dot Man shoot him in the ear and that's why the Thinker has a bandaid in the ear once they got to Jotunheim.
it should have been condiment king. By far a worse Batman rouges gallery member than poka dot man.
@@danielruiz8259 Yes, I've seen it! It's such a great scene for his character, it's very sad they didn't keep it
The fact this movie made me love and have slight crush on a girl who controls rats is pretty impressive and I love it plus this is honestly like my second or third fav comic book movie
“Tighty Whitey’s? Really??!”
“Now that’s just racist.”
Funniest line of the year.😂😂😂👍
actually "THAT'S YOUR MOM" is the best.
Milton was the MVP, gave the squad a ride and empanadas
This film is 10x better than the first one in every single way imaginable. The upgrade was massive!
This channel doesn't have any content
The only main flaw of this movie is Patrick Starfish from Spongebob being the villain.
@@joemckim1183 nope no flaws there
@@joemckim1183 it’s from the comics though lol
@@jakegittes1864 I understand that but it still makes me laugh whenever I think of this movie.
The actor that you recognized near the beginning, the bald guy in the prison with the writing on his head was Sean Gunn. James Gunn's brother. Hence why he was Craglin in Guardians of the Galaxy. I believe he was also the stand in for Rocket Racoon.
And he did Weasel's Mocap too, Gunn seems to love turning his brother into furry creatures.
He's playing Calendar Man and did the mo-cap for Weasel.
no, rocket raccoon is bradley cooper
@@Teddy-zr8yv Bradley Cooper did the VOICE of Rocket, his work was mostly inside a recording studio. Sean Gunn was in the actual sets of the movie with one of those full body catsuits with the same color of Greenscreen so the animators and artists could CGI Rocket in the space of his body.
@@annika3265 I was not aware of this fact, thanks for commenting, and for not making fun of my naivety
With Sylvester Stallone being King Shark in this film, that means he's had a #1 movie for 6 decades.
So, here's a comic book tidbit: Starro is the villain that brought the Justice League together for the first time in the comics.
This movie was so good at the cinema. I had a fat grin on my face the whole time. Just so good. James Gunn did it again!
Hand him the keys to the DC universe. He knows how to make likeable characters which to me is the biggest problem of the DCEU right now.
Sylvester Stallone voiced King Shark! So glad they cast him in the role. And it wouldn't be the first time he was in a comic book adaptation. He starred as Ravager Starhawk in the GOTG movies. He's even starring in a superhero action thriller called Samaritan, which is due out this year.
He was also Judge Dredd in the original film adaptation :D
@@mcgfn yes but we don't talk about that 🙏🤘
"starred" he was in the movie for like 10 mins

30:16 I love that Harley is so flattered that they would try save her that she offers to go back inside 😂😂
Such a hilarious scene
This movie is FUN from beginning to end and it's really nice to finally see your reaction, Brandon!
better than the first fuh sho
I always get tears in my eyes when Taika's character say that if rats have a purpose so do we all
also Daniela Melchior is amazing, such a great actress! i really want an Ratcatcher & King Shark series
13:16 "Hes offering you a leaf to show he means no harm" *WHY THE FUCK WOULD I WANT A LEAF?* 😂😂
Idk how they made a rat look so cute but god do I love that little guy
The reason why Harley says: "If you have licensed plates you die". It's because The Joker used in the first Suicide Squad in his Purple Lamborghini
Never made that connection. LOVE IT!!!
16:46 "Is that rat waving at me?" It appears it is
I love how he's so friendly 😂😂
I actually laughed my ass off when you said that it was Patrick from the Darkest timeline 😂
I love the subtle nod of recognition on Peacemaker, when Bloodsport is talking about his father doling out "the punishment"
45:50 So cute at the end the way Sebastian cuddled up to sleep on Bloodsport. The fact he pats it awkwardly and gets over his fear is so hilarious.
Honestly, I prefer TDK's original comic book name. Arm-Fall-Off Boy.
WAY better than the original.
Ratcatcher 2 was the surprise hit from the movie. No one could have predicted from the initial script the audience would love her so much
TDK actually survives! We see that he is in "critical condition" and James Gunn confirmed his survival on twitter, so TDK can totally return in the future...
Yes, love Nathan Fillion! And how can you not root for a hero with such a ridiculous superpower?🤣
I still can’t figure out how he didn’t take out all the baddies with that amazing slap technique.
I would rather he didn't tbh
I absolutely loved that half the cast was dead before their name appeared in the opening credits 🤣
"I'm actually pretty shocked they killed one of the characters this quick already", 4 minutes into this video
me watching: you're in for a wild ride, Brandon
Love that Rick flag last line not only dig to peacemaker but been a reference that peacemaker helped inspire the comedian in watchmen
Yeah, once you know those characters are connected it's impossible not to draw the connection.
One of the things I absolutely loved about this movie is that as a whole it felt like multi-issue arc and every time Gunn uses those transition text, it feels like each one is the title of an individual issue.
50:23, he survived! Lol! Oh ,no!! Well, time to start watching Peacemaker!
42:18 Yeah the giant version of his mum is so ridiculous.
I love how he motivated him by just saying "it's your mum"
The helmet was CGI in the scene around 35:10 ^^ Irl the reflection would've never looked like that, even disregarding the camera being visible obviously, but regardless it's a genius way to do a creative scene ^^
Definitely was Margot's strongest outing as Harley in my opinion - it feels like they actually looked to the comics for inspiration instead of just trying to make her Deadpool-lite.
Since no one else has mentioned it yet-
The song when king shark meets the piranha jelly fish things is also played during Pan’s Labyrinth
Funny thing is that margot did that key thing for real.... And for the first movie she learned to hold her breath for 5 min......
I think the way it’s filmed with the weird camera movements and titles is kinda mimicking what a comic book looks like
That could definitely be the reason!
Hey man I just want to say your channel has been getting me through some hard times lately. I had to take my son off of life support last week. But I've been bingeing your reactions and it honestly makes my days a little brighter
My god sir. May you and your family find peace.
Harley : “flag was my friend”
Me : “ 🥲💔”
"This is Patrick from the darkest timeline" genius! Hahaha
when king shark threw his little tantrum lmaooo so cute
Now you have to watch the animated Harley Quinn show on HBOMax. It's hilarious. All around great voice acting, but Alan Tudyk as a "thespian" version of Clayface & Ron Fuches as an IT nerd version of King Shark both steal the show.
The first shot with the puddle was thought of the day of. There was a puddle on set and James Gunn was like let’s use it.
The Corridor Crew actually did a video explaining how they did that helmet shot. It's pretty cool
i never thought rick flag would end up one of my fave characters but here we are
I’m glad u enjoyed ratcatcher as much as I did. She did an amazing job. Also one of my top dc movies, just how risky it was to not follow the same superhero formula. James did great.
Pom Klementeiff (Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy) had an uncredited cameo as a dancer at the club
and the last Guardians cameo one of the live rodents on set playing Sebastian was Crisp Rat
Viola Davis really captures how ruthless and cold Amanda Waller is but she does have her moments like in the animated series of the justice league where she can team up with Batman and the league to take down a bigger threat
Funny how we saw Rat Catcher in the daughter's storyline early in the film, but you didn't recognize him until the last scene he was in.
I didn't recognize him either at first. The scene in the window doesn't really show a clear view of his face and he didn't speak in it. So in the scene where we finally see him clearly and hear him speak you instantly know it's Taika 😅 his voice and accent is so recognizable.
The moment they were able to sell a character as ridiculous and arbitrary as a "Polka-dot" man I was 100% in. How fantasticly well of a job they did with this film with Writing, Acting & Directing - couldn't ask for more.
This film is everything the other wasn't. That one hurt my soul to point I nearly avoided this. I am so relieved I didn't
Same

@@dothog1401 nah son you're just scared to admit that you like crappy woke films ands that's ok son, I'm here for you and your silly woke films. dont cry too hard you little woke bum boy. LMAO.
These are all indeed actual comic book characters, except for Ratcatcher 2, there is a Ratcatcher in the comics but the film made a new version of the villain with her, TDK was also renamed in the comics his name is 'Arm Fall Off Boy'. Polka Dot Man's powers are also different, in the comics it's more tech than a space virus, so he had gimmick Polka Dots which could serve different purposes. Fun Fact: Peacemaker is not an original DC hero, he originally came from Charlton comics who DC bought out, this is the same for characters like Captain Atom, the Question and Blue Beetle. Peacemaker was actually one of the characters Watchmen wanted to use, but when they were told no they made the Comedian in his stead.
Indeed. It's why I'm 90% positive that Flag's final words are a stealth reference to Watchmen and Comedian's bleakly cynical POV - it's even kind of similar to his catchphrase: "it's all a joke". There's even a possible appearance of the stylised blood splatter on Bloodsport's vest after they escape the armoured car.
I love the way the movie builds up to Blood sports leadership and understanding his teams strengths Harley is an acrobat so she takes the high ground, King Shark is the tank and can dish out damage, and Polka Dot Man hates his mother.
What an amazing come back. This movie was great! 9/10! Entertaining and creative and chaotic through and through!
The amount of rats really surprised me, but after a google search I found out that there’s more than two rats for every person on the planet.
during the Starro tour one of the controlled zombie people shouts "He had his way with me", being that Starro is all of those people AND the main big Starfish Alien I have to wonder what exactly they meant by that because it opens up a whole huge sliding scale of Disturbing, Disgusting and straight Horrifying things
I still can't believe we got Ratcatcher in a movie, we didn't even get them in the Arkham games
9:44 Charlie would 100% be the best person to have that power 😂😂
I love how the Rat just waves constantly saying hello
Yep they’re all pretty much from the comics. Even Starro and Thinker. Comedian from Watchmen was based on Peacemaker. Corto Maltese is from the Dark Knight Returns.
Aww YES! I'm so happy you got around to watching this movie, it's so insanely good and absolutely bonkers!
Really disliked the first Suicide Squad, so wasn't expecting this one to be so dang good when I watched it. Very surprised and loved the humor and action in it. Loved the long tangent of HQ falling in love and going through that whole process with that guy and then doing him in. haha
Adding an edit: The one thing that Gunn nailed in this movie compared to the first one is how they told the backstory of the characters. You learned it as you watched the movie compared to sitting there for 20 mins in the first one being introduced to them one by one it seemed. The flow vs the first one is 1000 times better.
I didn't see anyone mention this but Bloodsport "kills" Peacemaker exactly how Peacemaker said he'd kill Bloodsport. Smaller bullet used to go through the middle of a bigger bullet.
15:49 "He does throw poka dots at people"
I love peacemakers sunrise at his powers
I could enjoy this move just for being a hilarious blast, but it also has great action, and great filmmaking like the camerawork, and I love when Ratcatcher is telling her story with flashbacks in the window reflection.
And the characters having surprisingly good developments and relationships.
A creative film, you know they enjoyed making this
Oh yeah did anyone else notice the goofy squish sound effect that got played when Starro killed Polkadot Man? lol
Savant getting scared of all the noises always makes me lol.
I love how whimsical the film is 👏
24:20 "Hey chicka you forgot the rat" *Rat* 👐
Lol that was funny he was like yeah hit me up
The actress for ratcatcher 2 is Portuguese (I loved this) and with this movie I hope she gets a big international career, she was so goood!
The Weasel is played by James Gunn brother, one of the Ravagers in Guardians of the Galaxy. So funny :D
King shark is just delightful... Harley too!
2:55 it’s actually funny u said that because sean gunn, who does the mocap for Rocket in the mcu, also plays weasel in this movie
Love the "love Acually" reference 🙌😂
21:33 That mum being everyone scene was so ridiculous lmfao
My brother was cackling up a storm when he saw me looking ill in the theater 🤣
Between Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, James Gunn is a legend in the CBM space
The betting pool idea feels like it was taken from Cabin in the Woods. In that movie they were betting on which monsters were going to attack the victims in the movie. A betting pool sounds like something that would happen in a Squad movie.
7:15 "the bird finally got revenge for its fallen brother"
Haha facta
i never caught it but 9:56 calenderman clowning on polkadot man, hilarious
If James Gunn was still working for Troma and they had the budget that Warner Brothers did, I guarantee you this would be the result of that partnership.
I thought James Gunn did a fantastic job of tackling all these different unique character’s and making an entertaining and actual good film! Great reaction!
You should see Willard starring Anthony Perkins who trains rats to terrorize people. The sequel Ben follows the King Rat as he and his legion of sewer rats protects a boy from bullies. Michael Jackson sang the theme song "Ben"...a love song about a boy and his sewer rat, underneath it all it's kinda Shakespeareian in a love and tragedy sorta way.
Please don't hate me but I love the remake. I just felt crispin sold the show as that character
@@Chrisjbennett89 It's a good remake, Crispin can do creepy really well but Anthony is the OG at playing creepy, everyone draws creep inspiration from Norman Bates.
6:48 I didn't realise he was the voice for King Shark either until now lmfao
10% of the video : reaction
90% of the video : Peacemaker show
James Gunn wrote and directed this, his brother sean did the motion capture for weasel in this movie and rocket in GOTG. You also actually see sean as a prisoner in this movie and a ravenger in GOTG.
Rats are very misunderstood little creatures. Tame ones make amazing pets.
To answer your question, yes. All of the members of the Squad are based on a character from the comics. And Starro, to give a sense of the power creep in comics, was the world-ending threat that first caused the Justice League to form in 1960. Starro debuted as a threat that only Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman could handle together. Now? He can be beaten by c-list supervillains.
Teachncially, he was beaten by the rats 🤷🏾♀️ So it’s now canon rats could destroy the justice league
It is awesome to see the 12 Doctor play a Flash villain.
Very nice! Back to back Gunn reacts! You should check out Slither when you get a chance
It's crazy how a different direction changes everything
Im still heartbroken about Rick Flaggs death :(
I think the Weasel is gonna have his Thanos happiness like in Infinity War and Endgame knowing he probably won't be apart of the team anymore, hes on the island, and he's roaming free now...yep the Weasel is now having a better life than the rest of the Suicide Squad who went and killed Starro
