The thing about Harley that most movie writers forget, she has a PhD in psychology, she's not dumb, she plays (played) dumb because that's what the joker wanted.
Ohhh YES this is one of the best superhero movie of all time imo James Gunn really knocked it out if the park here-- you can say ANY character is your favourite and it would be totally justified-- he gave them all so much depth and emotion it's incredible. Loved Ratcatcher and Bloodsport's father-daughter style relationship John Cena was perfectly cast as Peacemaker. Hope you'll consider reacting to the Peacemaker TV series next.

Peacemaker (the show) also directly references events from that movie in one episode. Gunn did a great job of honoring and enhancing the best parts of that movie, while sidestepping, but not reconning or trashing the worse parts. and, yes, Peacemaker was written and largely directed by Gunn. and it's fantastic.
I feel that was why the movie didn't do well. The title alone was just "THE Suicide Squad" and not "2" or "Returns" or whatever. So it left casual people confused. Also, the 2016 movie wasn't well received despite making money, and when you get burned out from an awful movie, you don't wanna go back. (When we saw it, me, my sister and dad were literally the only people in the theaters. Which was so unfortunate. Same with Into the Spider-Verse. And what both films have in common is that we walked out with tears of joy.)
Very random sidenote. A lot of this was filmed in Panama City and my cousin did the extras Casting! And yes, I am just writing this as a shoutout to her!

Enjoy the react and breakdown by character! It's a sequel, not a reboot as some want it to be. It's consistent with the canon from the comics in that Task Force X is assigned secretive, undercover missions for the gov't by Waller. The lineup of villains is in constant flux w/ members like Cpt. Boomerang, Dead Shot, Harley, etc being somewhat consistent. Shame that Gunn had to off Boomer, though -- felt that one.

Joel Kinnaman has always been a miss for me, until this movie. But his best work IMO is the first season of Altered Carbon. I highly suggest you take a look at that Netflix series. Amazingly done, and so cool to watch. It's a Sci-Fi show set in the distant future, and each season (although related to each other) stands as as individual work.
He’s even better in for all mankind which is a great show, he was great on the killing back in the day too, was good in house of cards too. He’s a good actor

Political drama with space ships. Probably one of the best shows in the last couple decades. Currently "ended" with season 6, but fans saved it once already.

Yes Margot Robbie is very attractive, but you're pretty easy on the eyes as well. As far as this movie goes, it's what happens when a DC movie gets the Marvel treatment. And rather than just focusing on one or two characters, they actually flesh out everyone in the principal cast.
Hopefully, at some point, HBO Max will release The Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad and we'll finally see David Ayer's original version of the movie just like we did for Zack Snyder's Justice League.
Would love that. Rather see the director's vision, whether good or bad, instead of it constantly being dragged due to studio interference. A trailer director edit -- f'kn WB execs.

The distinction is that the 2016 film is Suicide Squad, whereas the 2021 film is _The_ Suicide Squad.

TDK is still alive! It's shown on Waller's screen and James Gunn comfirmed it himself, so Nathan Fillion can return in the future...
