Hold on.... highly militarized, everyone serves the military, peacekeepers of the galaxy, honor-bound... did.. did you just make the Turians from Mass Effect.
I'd say no because the Turians are less defend the meek and more obey the law or else. To support this I present the time they nuked a human colony after we activated a Mass Relay with no prior knowledge that it was a no no.
Deep in the bowels of the earth, inside an ancient structure of unknown purpose, a booming voice speaks. *ARE YOU READY KIDS?* A door grinds open on the far wall. *OOOOOOOOOH!*
I loved it when you said "they are repugnant because they are very strict with their rules" then immediately followed up with "they are unruly" 😆 I'd love to see you do run some of the mod jam origins.
It kinda makes sense, like if their society has a very specific, complicated set of moral honor rules. So to other species, their behavior might seem erratic and unruly, but really they're just living by a very nuanced code of conduct that's easily misunderstood.
@@randys2669 They're not unruly and repugnant because they're Chaotic Neutral, they're unruly and repugnant because they're Lawful Neutral but nobody else can fgure out their rules.

I like to think more like Jaffa from Stargate. Its less rules and more a very strict code that doesn't make much sense to outsiders that allow for homicide very commonly.
I really like when you read the events out. I haven't played Stellaris myself, and don't know the different story chains. I'd have ot pause and read through them myself before because I was curious about them. At least early on when the empire is first expanding, I like to hear things read out. Makes me feel more invested in the current empire, like they're a real species out there, and not just chess pieces on a space-themed board.
Agreed; plus you've got such a pleasant voice, despite all the self-deprecation you do about that! I think after so long you've got a good idea which events are minor and which aren't, and have a good idea of interesting narrative moments. Maybe just slow yourself on clicking them away at least to give yourself a chance, or let folks pause the vid.
About that chess thing. There is a mod that adds new AI personalities (it's called... ehm... More AI Personalities), including one called "Trapped in a Machine". They are think they are living in a simulation with one or more empires controlled by a higher power. They feel like they are destined to lose against and being controlled by them (I think they call them "The Watchers") and seek to destroy every life in the galaxy to free themselves from their tyranny.
I stumbled onto you accidentally years ago and your truly exceptional content started a fire in my heart for stellaris that is still burning bright today and brought back my long dead love for grand stratagy... Thank you so much.
I think the planets should have forge names but the ships should have weapon names. The planets forge the ships, the ships defend the forges. Corvette Interceptor: Rapier (Fast thrusts and feints) Corvette picket: Buckler (Small shield) Destroyer: Spear (Simple mainline weapon) Cruisers: Halberd (Heaver more intricate polearms) Battleship: Maul (Huge spiked club for crushing armor) Titan: War Hammer (The war hammer is a polearm that is devastating against armor but it also harkens back to the forge theme with the hammer part of the name. This pay homage to the titans manufacturing abilities.)
Depending on how you define good, we've always been the good guys! (In all seriousness, I feel like I'm the ONLY GOOD PERSON on the Stellaris subreddit)
Honestly, i love the slower paced gameplay, with more attention looking at the different events in more detail. It's a great difference from the usual style. I think this is a welcome style for these very in depth playthroughs, but for the usual style of playthrough i still prefer the fast paced gameplay.
Seeing how it seems like the main theme of this species if being forged by their planet to be super-friendly and cooperative due to competitiveness just resulting in both dying due to overuse of resources on fighting over said resources, it could be interesting naming the first and second colonies respectively "Hearth" and "Furnace".
The Herzschlag Station... Hmm i mean... kinda fits to the Necroids but then again it does not... it is weird, it translates to heartbeat for those who want to know. While im at it, Fieber is fever. I really love the role play videos. It just seems like more fun for you and it is definitely more fun to watch. There's only so many times I can watch someone min max the game before it gets boring. Also, for your naming convention I have an idea. Your ships could be named after traditional medieval/ancient weapons. The Corvette could be a dagger, the destroyer could be a gladius, the cruiser could be a broadsword, the battleship could be a longsword, the titan could be a zweihander. Or something similar to that since it fits the warrior culture and it's just an evolution of their weapons.
I purposely didn't finished the video about "choosing a race" just to go into this as blind as possible. Thanks for this Christmas gift Lath, keep it up.
Love this so much more than cutting 95% of a playthrough and only showing highlights. Show as much as possible, read as much as possible imo - it's by far my favourite format and makes for a very relaxed and enjoyable series
I just realised you built an entire civilisation with the same ethics as Druss the legend. Short version of his oath: “Protect the weak from the evil strong” I love this play through. I love you reading out the all the events. I adore the ship names and in my head cannon they are badly translated honourbound ship names. I do enjoy hearing you read all the events, like you I end up skimming a lot of them but hearing it all read out really drives home a lot of the stories that are so often missed.
I love the slower pace start and actual reading of the events. Also the focus on role-playing makes me really happy :). The 'evil' names for the ships don't really fit I think, but nothing I can't imagine away.
So chuffed you made this video! I first subbed when I discovered one of your early full playthroughs of Stellaris. It was your infectious excitement and tentative exploration of the game that kept me hooked to your channel. It really has been cool to see you go from "I don't fully know what I'm doing" to "how the flipping hell does he do that so fast??". But to revisit and reflect like you have here after mastering a game for so long just highlights the care and attention you give to what you do. Thank you for all the effort -- it really is appreciated!
I really enjoy it when you take it low and slow, reading all the events and showing off every decision is great to see how you are roleplaying the Honourbound (its fun to watch too), and it means I learn things about the game I didn't before! I have a few hundred hours in Stellaris and I learned a ton about factions and other things from this. Thank you for all the hard work!
I really like this super in depth, with nothing cut out. also, going the full mile on the lore is great, I don't have the game, so all this stuff is new and interesting to me.
I really enjoy hearing you read anything you wish and love the more thoughtful pace. The only caveat i would make is that if you feel the reading is so much that it is sapping *your* fun/zeal/energy, then feel free to fold in a few summaries. And the Cybrex is awesome, because the way they Ended could be the origin of the Honourbound's ethos!!
I remake and replay multiple species every week on stellaris. Most campaigns I never finish. I always give my race a full biography and create them with a specific role-playing idea in mind. I think that's what makes this game fun for me!
honestly, I quite liked listening to all the events reading out and all the decisions you're putting in for the RP styled empire by the same token, I'm well aware just how much time and effort you'd have to put in to such so perhaps just the ones you find more interested or the ones better suited towards your empire itself? Also merry christmas! hope you've had an enjoyable day and managed to take a break
I also definitely vote that you read everything. I find myself naturally skipping details when I play stellaris so being “forced” to enjoy the effort PDX has put into the writing read by your excellent voice is a treat.
I find it wonderful to listen to you and see you enjoying yourself. Please stay with the extended reading, if you like. It makes the empire and its people grow at you and care for it. Please take care and have a perfect ending of the year. PS: Bitte sende Grüße an deine Verwandten in Deutschland.^^
I don't know if you'll ever see this, but thanks for the great content and inspiration Lath! So about two months ago I got Stellaris and immediately started sinking hours into the game. Right now I'm actually playing in a multiplayer game roleplaying a nation similar to the Honorbound in the big brother militarist kind of way because you inspired me so much.
I really love your long videos, that's why you are my favorite Stellaris youtuber, but I am really excited to see this let's play! Thanks for working so hard on these videos.
We indeed wish the series to be continued in the future, reading out events and explaining the thought process behind your decisions is also very nice, keep it up!
Been busy lately with loads of stuff, so just starting this one for real today. Still, always a pleasure to see a playthrough like this from lathrix ... and a RPG'ed one on top of that! Knowing of my favorite streamer on this game ... ah yes! Just what the doctored ordered! Bonus points for making this as a series! It will allow me to savor this playthrough as the 'stellar' wine that it truly is ;) See you on the other side! ( when I finished one or more episodes!)
My Mandatory comment for the algorithm. So I'm loving this series, far more what of I've wanted from your stellaris content. I have no issues with the structure of this video so keep doing what you're doing.
Thank you for this. I really enjoy your playthroughs. Reading the events out does no doubt make it take longer on your end, but I really enjoyed it. Read out as many as you would like, please.
I really enjoyed this because you were playing to have fun instead of min max the empire. That is my favorite part of playing stellaris, my brother tries to min max in our games but i just want to have fun. Sure I'm always weaker than he is but I dont really care in the end. Reading the events was a nice touch as well, tbh i just click through most of them at this point that I've forgotten what they even say.
Personally I like the slow pace of stellar is in this video. It's different and I like hearing your voice. Makes it sound like you are reading me a story about an empire's rise.
I love the idea of playing the game this way, I too have fallen into the min-max play pattern and felt myself not enjoying the game as much as I used to.
14:08 I respect the fact that you mentioned other RUclipsrs like Aspec to check out their content coverage of the game as well, probably since both of your audiences overlap. Wish there were plans of a collab between you two.
I love your roleplay-playthroughs of stellaris, it is so interesting to watch how these empires evolve. also i like it when you read the events, since i also always skip them, so its nice to know for once whats happening lol. also all hail squarf.
@Lathland ... I could see this Civilization going with the Expansion Ethics next ... They need room to grow their overcrowded planet plus they know they will need more people for the future so that they can help protect all those weak people out there that are being turned into slaves in one form or another I would also only read the more interesting reports and you could name your ships things like "Guardian of the Weak", "Guardian of the Meek", "Champion of the Oppressed", "Seeker of Secrets", "Shield of the Just" and many others like those. After all, if I understood correctly this Civilization is all about Protecting the People... even at the expense of killing those that need it ^___^
Hey all ! Thought I'd take a moment to say; this turned out to be my favorite play through on this channel. Great job Lathrix! I hope you do more like this. :)
i really liked that a simple thing such as a name of a scientist like Squarf became a re occuring character throughout the episode. :D so if an opportunity for that arises in the future i would love it :D
10:30 "And I'm doing my part!" 41:10 you're 100% correct too :P also you're the first non-native speaker i've heard pronounce "Fieber" right, most people keep mixing up "ie" and "ei" :'D
I loved this episode, I think that the excavation sites must be read, it's just got to much todo with our birth, where or how we came to be. As for anomalies I don't think you need to read them al, just the ones that interest you or have endings that might actually change things in the game. I love the little hoops your jumping thru to make your empire feel more like it's driven by ethics and not totally by 'this = more of what I need to win' personally this is how I like to play stellaris. You've made this so much fun to watch. Please upload more.
Hey Lath, first of all, love the Roleplay, was captivated from start to finish, but I wanted to comment on The Cybrex backstory. I'd like to think it went something like this: In the last Bastions before The Cybrex fell a section of the Machine Entities experienced an alteration of their main personality routines once they realized the goal of galaxial conquest through anger and aggression was for naught. The Splintering resulted in a methodology shift to a new idea: Conquering through Peace. After all, to a machine, no matter the method, as long as the main goal was completed the routines would be complete. Thusly, they began the steps necessary to form the gestation of The Honourbound. Through the formation of this organic life, the legacy of The Cybrex and its purpose would live on in the personalities of its children. All Names for the Empire should revolve around some type of Military Operation or utilize the Military Alphabet like Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc or be a naming convention that represents the interests or intent of the citizens like Beneficiary Consumer Factory 1, etc. Planet Names can similarly be involved with Military Designations, Gods of War, Strategic Intent like Forward Bastion Alpha, etc. Finally, please continue reading the more interesting events and/or giving extensive overviews to the truly unique ones that have a lot of thought put into them. Having you read out and truly grasp the level of tech or type of experience that is happening is resoundingly pleasant to watch.
The species traits and the warrior culture make me think of either the Jaffa or the Andorians. And since this is shoulders of giants I am more inclined to view the former of the latter. So Honorbound! Kree! (Side note love to see you return to your roots)
Anwsering your question about reading events. Definitley read all precursors events.I would also love to hear all the encountered event chains like worm in waiting or infinity machine. As far as a minor events go i would love you to read all of the interesting ones (like misterious factory or a wormhole ones) but i dont think much would be lost by skipping random +1resource anomaly detection and such.

And the Cybrex is awesome, because the way they Ended could be the origin of the Honourbound's ethos!!
My favourite part of Stellaris is the early exploration, the gradual discovery of the shape of the galaxy. You spending more time here is interesting.
I remake and replay multiple species every week on stellaris. Most campaigns I never finish. I always give my race a full biography and create them with a specific role-playing idea in mind. I think that's what makes this game fun for me!
Merry Christmas Lath!! I really love how in depth this play through feels already and how much love has gone into making/playing it.
honestly, I quite liked listening to all the events reading out and all the decisions you're putting in for the RP styled empire by the same token, I'm well aware just how much time and effort you'd have to put in to such so perhaps just the ones you find more interested or the ones better suited towards your empire itself?
Also merry christmas! hope you've had an enjoyable day and managed to take a break
I also definitely vote that you read everything. I find myself naturally skipping details when I play stellaris so being “forced” to enjoy the effort PDX has put into the writing read by your excellent voice is a treat.
Absolutely enjoying the high quality, fun content you always put out 🙂
I find it wonderful to listen to you and see you enjoying yourself. Please stay with the extended reading, if you like. It makes the empire and its people grow at you and care for it.
Please take care and have a perfect ending of the year.
PS: Bitte sende Grüße an deine Verwandten in Deutschland.^^
Please keep reading the events out loud! Loving all of the flavor and RP so far, looking forward to the rest of the series!
I really like the empire you chose to role-play, I am really looking forward this play through. I think our world is missing honour.
I really love your long videos, that's why you are my favorite Stellaris youtuber, but I am really excited to see this let's play! Thanks for working so hard on these videos.
I fall asleep to these every night and rewatch whatever I missed in the morning :) thank you for these wonderful videos!
23:33 ''Herzschlag'' means heartbeat in german
well he noticed it at 42:13 ^-^
Aw man an upload for Christmas! Can't get watching it today have to keep an eye on the wee man but have a pre emptive like
I've waited for a role-playing playthrough with the ethics mods and stuff for a while.
Gonna have fun with this
I never knew i wanted this until today, thank you
We indeed wish the series to be continued in the future, reading out events and explaining the thought process behind your decisions is also very nice, keep it up!
It will allow me to savor this playthrough as the 'stellar' wine that it truly is ;)
See you on the other side! ( when I finished one or more episodes!)
Star crazy is not the only outcome of that event. It's nice that you're reading the events. Thanks.
Yay! Best Christmas gift ever
Watching Lathrix RP with all these mods is a joy in Heaven, and a great Christmas present for me!
I love the idea of playing the game this way, I too have fallen into the min-max play pattern and felt myself not enjoying the game as much as I used to.
I like the idea of you reading out some of the more interesting anomalies, but mostly the rp elements are super interesting
I love this new serie VERY much! Stellaris always be more roleplay game for me, rather then strategy. Thank you very much Lath:)
Quite enjoyed this style of Stellaris video, including the reading of the events
Lathrix, call one of your admirals/generals nightshade/deathberries
@Lathland ... I could see this Civilization going with the Expansion Ethics next ... They need room to grow their overcrowded planet plus they know they will need more people for the future so that they can help protect all those weak people out there that are being turned into slaves in one form or another
I would also only read the more interesting reports
and you could name your ships things like "Guardian of the Weak", "Guardian of the Meek", "Champion of the Oppressed", "Seeker of Secrets", "Shield of the Just" and many others like those. After all, if I understood correctly this Civilization is all about Protecting the People... even at the expense of killing those that need it ^___^
Mad man Lathrix having to post an amazing video on Christmas day because of RUclips. Very nice present for me!
Role playing is what makes the game fun.
I love your reading out of the events. Adds flavor to it all!
Hey all ! Thought I'd take a moment to say; this turned out to be my favorite play through on this channel. Great job Lathrix! I hope you do more like this. :)
You are one of my favorite creators and I love how you are RPing. I would like it if you just overviewed the events. Have a great christmas!
i really liked that a simple thing such as a name of a scientist like Squarf became a re occuring character throughout the episode. :D so if an opportunity for that arises in the future i would love it :D
10:30 "And I'm doing my part!"
41:10 you're 100% correct too :P
also you're the first non-native speaker i've heard pronounce "Fieber" right, most people keep mixing up "ie" and "ei" :'D
always good when lathyboy starts the play through acting 'we are the good guys'.
Love the video and love the focus on roleplaying the empire and the interesting lil events.
Herzschlag. Heartbeat Research Station. Please keep this name :)
42:00 - I remember that's what It means in the very end! Though I do continue to pronounce It very badly for a while.. But that's a given haha! :)
@@Lathland Ich Will - Rammstein. One of my favourite songs!
"Ich Will Jeden Herzschlag kontrollieren" - "I want to control your every heartbeat."
Good to see you got these references in the end!
Interestingly, it used to mean "heart attack" which is even more on theme for Necroids.
