2:14 When she faces 9S showing affection for 2B, she despairs of jealousy or perhaps envy. As if the only way for her to have that kind of attention would be to be even more beautiful. Man this is heartbreaking

in Yoko Taro games no one is more heroic or villanous than no one, in the end it's a matter of views and goals, ones more selfish and ones more autruistic
But that's the issue with Drakengard-NieR, there is no good or evil, only people doing what they must to achieve their goals... Almost like a certain Vampire we know.
wait for New game+ Mode where they reveal the Robot side of the storyline with new and extended scenes. You will be feeling like the real monster after the New Game+ Mode.
@Chihaya Furu after watching Kyle McCarley and Kira Buckland (the English voices of 9S and 2B) stream the game, and then go on to do their own unofficial reading of the concert dialogue so people could hear it with the English voices, you couldn’t be more wrong (at least in this case). You can tell just by watching them play that they really care about their characters.
@PUNMPKIN well, that's what happens when someone makes an arrogant & uninformed statement. They had no right to say something so stupid in the first place, & yet, they did so regardless.
I remember with Nier, they didn't make it obvious that the Shades were Human. But here, we are at the 3rd boss and I got the feeling the machines were more than just machines at boss number 2.
Yep, but in Nier Automata, the "big spoiler" wasnt the fact that Machines had emotions, it was the fact that YoRHa androids was created with Machine core-s. So it doesnt really bother me.
haven't played the game but that silhouette picture upon death which my intuition tells me is a memory of the boss and it tells a very human story. A maiden being courted by a young fellow, she will do anything to look her best for the next time that fellow comes around.
Simone (this boss) falling in love with another robot, Jean-Paul. Unfortunetly JP was bastard and only care about beautiful robot and stuff. So Simone kill another machine and use them to look beautiful

Throwing me back to my initial anticipation and hype when the E3 boss fight was shown I was actually crying fighting this boss. Not just the music itself made me, but how much more they made out of the boss fight that appeared to be pretty simple (but still nice looking) back in 2016. The implementation of the synced bell tolls and the hacking mini game as well as the 8-bit music theme just made me quiver with joy and excitement. Not even mentioning the ambiguousness with Simone's phrases and the still frame after she died. I wanted to know more, now! I didn't have this much fun with video games in ages since Bloodborne, and NieR:Automata made me realize why I love video games. And I can't thank Yoko Taro enough for this masterpiece.
Lol Honestly, this game is just way better when played on Hard difficulty. Feels good being punished for minute mistakes and stealing a win after going through hell.
Playing atm, first playthrough on hard, 9h of gameplay spent solely on trying to beat the first goliath part. Was so painful but so worth when i managed to finaly kill it and get to save the damn game.
Hands down, one of the best boss fights ever in a game and I've played FFVII, X, XV, Sekiro and so on. Everything is so perfect and so fitting: the setup, the challenge, the variety, the ramping up in difficulty, the plot twist when the curtains come down and of course: the music! Not to mention that this boss fight gives a valuable and interesting insight into the robots' "minds" and how they're not exactly black and white.
2b's sprinting animation and movements are the things that make me captivated. seriously, she looks like a real professional assassin. it looks so efficient! and that short hair looks perfect on her.
Ilona i know for one that 2b's sole purpose is to assasinate 9s or just to supervise 9s's actions. Her real name isn't 2b either. But the dev sure knows what kind of character 2b is and their creation is on point.
Umm...I think what Mike Chang means is that if you think about it, the androids are practically crucified. This game had a lot of biblical references in it. There are even two main antagonist characters respectively called Adam and Eve and the lore of the game itself explores the concept of a "higher being".
I recently bought this game and I must say, this is a true masterpiece. Just the intro was awesome, but I got past this boss and into the next region. The changing gameplay, the hacking scenes, it's just.. SO addictive. I've been up ever since getting it, falling asleep at my desk (or literally falling over, as I play my PS4 from my PC desk chair)... My controller fell a couple times as I had to break my fall from tiredness lol. I started over once when I was in the Desert, because I wanted to get my full equipment & especially the auto-use chip back from my tutorial. I haven't died once yet so far on hard (I've played all DS games and am also playing Bloodborne atm). These are some of the best games ever made for the PS4. I am LOVING the story so far on NieR: AutomatA. How does NieR: Replicant compair to AutomatA? I feel like I've rediscovered the joy in gaming... Nothing made me feel this good except for BB & RDR2. Oh, and of course, the DS series. Titanfall 2 had an awesome campaign & multiplayer too, I'm really sad about the state of the servers atm... I'll stop typing now. TL;DR: This is one of best games I've ever played and it has me addicted.
haven't finished replicant but its gameplay was quite hard to adjust to after automata; still, it's definitely worth it to play if you really enjoyed automata for the lore, experience and story! i hope you enjoy it as much as you did this one since i've heard from hardcore nier fans that replicant was brilliant 🥰
Wow.. that scream at the start had an icecold chill running down my entire body. She really is "BROKEN" just like the machine said before entering the hall.. ;-;
i loved this boss battle so much her laugh was so sinister and taunting it made me want to continue fighting even though i felt like giving up i think the character boss itself quite had a sad story based on the dialogue.. someone who was ridden in insecurity that they felt “beauty” was their only escape out of it and their entrance into love
God the way the bells ring as she attacks and it syncs with the music, its so good. I had to pause the game and stare in awe of how good this fight was.
I suddenly noticed something interesting (long comment) As 2B the boss’s name on the health bar is in angelic. Or simply, some cryptic language the androids dosent understand (We know this from the resource recovery units from later in the game) Likely the cryptic language we hear in the music of the game. Since 2B’s main objective is to stop this machine and nothing else, it means mothing to her, and to us the players, it remains untranslated. Fast fact: Simone was the name of a French philosopher, who had a long-term open relationship with another philosopher named Jean-Paul. Both were accused of grooming and abusing minor female students, what made Simone lose her license as a teacher. That is why the machine on the game "grooms" other androids in order to call Jean-Paul's attention, what is something that the real Simone has also done. It took me some time to catch that detail.
NOTE: The opera boss tore the skin off of every android in that theater... and ate it... then proceeded to hack, then hijack the minds and bodies of the androids to use as slaves before (or possibly after) FUCKING CRUCIFYING THEM. This game is metal af 😅

The sad thing is i guess i already overpowered when fighting her, since i grinding like shit in that desert arena because i really like the fight lol
SaltSaltSalt Wtf I wouldnt, I've seen the 9s version and it doesn't make me sad. She turned those androids into weapons and tried to kill 9s and 2b, she can die for all I care.
SaltSaltSalt Yes and it was the dumbest reason, she wanted to be beautiful for someone, so what does she do? KILL PEOPLE. WOW SEEMS REASONABLE. Yeah I don't care she can die.
I couldnt believe my ears when I first heard this. The combination of the cutscene with the start of the soundtrack was one of the best things i've ever seen in this game.I never imagined this game would be so FUCKING awesome
I just finished this boss fight. It was honestly the GREATEST boss fight that I've ever played in any video game! It was very enjoyable and had my adrenaline going! The music, the combat, and the fantastic design of the opera singer boss were peak perfection! I can't wait to see where NieR: Automata goes next!!!
Did anyone else realize that during the first phase she actually initiates her attacks in tact with the music? She actually initiates a show during the first phase, before she succumbs to chaos in the second.
This game needed just 3 things to be PERFECT: 1. A better checkpoint/death/respawn system, lore-integrated, a la Dark Souls or Sekiro. 2. Enemies that encourage you or even FORCE YOU to use most (or all) weapons and combos. 3. A limiter for some moves, especially evading and endlessly shooting. 4. (EXTRA) A "photo mode" (not a fan of this one, but Automata screams for one!) Everything else, despite the obvious fidelity problems, pre-rendered cutscenes, etc. is just so on-point it hurts! In any case: NieR: Automata, Game of its Generation.
OKAY
CAN WE JUST APPRECIATE HOW THE OST TURNS INTO 8-BIT WHEN 9S DOES THE HACKING
no.
Nope
i'll say it then since no one else will. YES
I think it's pretty awesome lol.
I think it’s a creative idea. Going into a digitalized world so it makes it a digitalized base song of what’s playing so I think it’s sweet

..so she got robot parts to make her beautiful, she even adds an alien inside.
Guess I'll get the game.
When machine try to have human feeling, poor Simone.
For me, the opera singer is one of the most intimidating bosses with the background song and the scream scene before starting to fight her
One of the single best boss intros I've seen in a while, I really love everything about this boss.
That Opera Singer is just.....performing. What a great sync with the ost
This boss fight with HDR... is mesmerizing. Where it shoots all those rings out of its head. So bright.
0:46 Holy cow, never noticed this bells before...
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH BELLS, TWINS, RED EYES AND FLOWERS IN THESE GAMES
This looks so sad! omg
ikr I watched the 9S gameplay and I'd honestly feel like a monster fighting her
SaltSaltSalt Wtf I wouldnt, I've seen the 9s version and it doesn't make me sad. She turned those androids into weapons and tried to kill 9s and 2b, she can die for all I care.
But didn't you see why she did all that?
SaltSaltSalt Yes and it was the dumbest reason, she wanted to be beautiful for someone, so what does she do? KILL PEOPLE. WOW SEEMS REASONABLE. Yeah I don't care she can die.
Kevin Witomo So to feel love she killed people? That's just stupid.
I really wish I can experience this for the first time again
The most memorable bossfight in recenet game history for me. And some bloodborne and dark souls bosses.
I couldnt believe my ears when I first heard this.
The combination of the cutscene with the start of the soundtrack was one of the best things i've ever seen in this game.I never imagined this game would be so FUCKING awesome
Haven't played the game but this fight in the anime was insanely good.
¡Gracias por subirlo!
Maaaaan, 0:18-0:26 gave me BEAUTIFUL CHILLS!! 😭💕
aaaaaa
aaaaaaaa
AAAAAAAAAAAAA (*epic boss music starts*)
at 1:19 you can easily hear O fortuna - carmina burana :)
BloodyGoodReviews I never noticed that until now wow
One of the best boss fight vibe ever in video gaming history
Did anyone else realize that during the first phase she actually initiates her attacks in tact with the music? She actually initiates a show during the first phase, before she succumbs to chaos in the second.
they did NOT need to make this little boss so fucking cool
Man, I had goosebumps when I realized that the theme is synced with the attacks at the first laser attack
The 9s version of this boss is easily my favorite of the game. Was watching the anime and had to come back to revisit this masterpiece
This game needed just 3 things to be PERFECT:
1. A better checkpoint/death/respawn system, lore-integrated, a la Dark Souls or Sekiro.
2. Enemies that encourage you or even FORCE YOU to use most (or all) weapons and combos.
3. A limiter for some moves, especially evading and endlessly shooting.
4. (EXTRA) A "photo mode" (not a fan of this one, but Automata screams for one!)
Everything else, despite the obvious fidelity problems, pre-rendered cutscenes, etc. is just so on-point it hurts!
In any case: NieR: Automata, Game of its Generation.
How the boss' moves are synced to th music is the best part
