I love how Netero said Beyond couldn't risk the entire world's safety until after he was already dead. That is a whole other level of selfishness.

A little info dump to help understand how hard it is to reach the DC and then return.
1. There have been 149 attempted voyages to the Dark Continent. Of those 149, only 5 returned with survivors. Each of those five also returned to the human world, bringing back a potential world ending threat. (Which the crew somehow survived the boat ride back with) There have only been 28 recorded survivors.
2. It takes approximately three months via an advanced vessel to get from the human world to the DC. To put that into perspective, it takes 30 days via a cargo boat to cross the Pacific Ocean. That means the distance between the human world and Dark Continent is three times the distance across the Pacific Ocean. Not only that, unlike our world, there are massive monsters in both the air and sea within that ocean. As well as massive storms.
Evidently, Guides, are needed to help those on the outside actually reach the Dark Continent after a certain point.
So the explanation as to why humanity hasn't continually gone there is pretty self evident.

So since this god forsaken planet that HxH happens to be set in is obviously probably even larger than Jupiter, the days could be waaay longer and imagine if the reason why the days still seem to go normally, is because a super massive bird flies infront of the sunlight every time its 'night'
@@dragos8839 flying is probably much riskier. Theyre aboard a vessel that looks like a whale, which probably camouflage them from monsters. There is probably also the weather im guessing dc almost always have a rough weather, the cost transporting water vs air, the technology, if there is a vessel they could transport through air could fit 200k people, there is also distance of travel, how far air travel before refuel

It took 8 years to finish the chimera ant arc, imagine what it takes to finish an arc of the likes of the dark continent, simply put we are to wait at least 15 years I say. The thought, the process, the perfection of writing that needs to be done in this upcoming arc is insane. Togashi is simply a genius that is bigger than himself. He broke life down into 3 big sections, The Introduction (The Hunter Exam), The Interlude (The Chimera Ant Arc), and finally the Dark Continent. The art of being introduced to life, then growth and finally going farther and beyond and evolving. Simply put HxH is life defined. (Its up to you to put the pieces together on how HxH's story meaning connects to the real world and life.) (The reader/watcher can be considered Gon and Ging who are ambitious people looking to grow and prosper more then ever. In the dark arc we take the role of being Ging if you thought Ging had keys to understanding the meaning of life imagine what Don has in store for us.)
We still voyage expedition to dark continent with succession war, hisoka hunt, kurapika arc inside

Yeah but Chimera took 8 Years because of all the breaks. I mean the Arc is 10 or 11 Volumes long who would be 2 or 3 Years if it would have run weekly without many breaks.
It's kinda scary when Isaac Netero of all ppl was concerned over his Son. And I don't think it's because beyond is weak either. No, beyond probably is isaac on meth. He seems like isaac but stronger and with no moral compass. That's saying a lot since Isaac wasn't exactly an angel.
I imagine something like this...
1. Beyond is stronger than Isaac
2. Isaac forbids him from going and willing to fight to death with beyond
3. Beyond can kill Isaac but wont
4. Now Isaac dead. He can now pursue dark continent
I was completly thrilled when i first saw Beyond. i felt as if i ve just encountered the evil version of Netero and yes netero was not an angel.
I always wonder why Chimera ants will arrived in the human world, Ging did say they are species that came from the outside world, but think about it, even travel by Black whale you need to take at least two month to get to the dark continent, so how did the ant queen swim across lake Mobius to human world when she was injured...
remember when kite said he received a commission from Kakin empire to investigate Chimera ants, that’s how things get a little suspicious, in the manga ant queen was first found in the southern part of York new city, and at that time Kite was at Kakin empire but once he discovered one of ant queen’s limb, he immediately showed up at Yorbian continent(one of the 6 continent in hxh world where York new city is),here’s the thing how did Kakin knows about all the informations about a nation not under their control but V5 didn’t, as the video mentioned Beyond without Isaac’s permission can not head to the dark continent again ,so he didn’t have a chance and reason to cooperate with the organization that big like V5 until his pa dead, but he is working with Kakin the whole time, so my guess is ant queen is probably something Beyond brought back from dark continent on his last trip, and he released it on purpose and let Kakin offered a job to find it so he can bait hunters from association like Kite to do the job, and by not giving enough information about what hunters might deal with Beyond knows their will be some sacrifices, eventually things will get worse and caught his daddy Isaac Netero aka itchy Gaunyin fist’s attention😭,and all this stuffs might just be the beginning of his crazy plans.
Conclusion: This god damn bastard is why I got my depression, punch him in the face Ging!!!!!

When he brought back the ant queen he knew she'd cause chaos but he had plans of going to the dark continent in any possible way.
He accidentally killed his dad and he had no control of the events that folded afterwards.
This is really not Beyond characteristic.. Beyond is more like straight foward not a planner type.

nah, im with you. This whole time.. hes been writing. Taking his time.. somethings coming. Read something just the other day where he himself stated that he isn't done.
One of my favorite anime tropes is scars on characters.
It immediately gives the feeling that there's a deeper story behind them, and piques your curiosity right away.
What happened? Did he lose the fight? Was it a fight at all? Does that mean that there are vicious dangerous enemies on the dark continent? It instantly raises the stakes and gives you a sense of foreboding. Its a good tool.
My favorite trope, though, is obscured eyes. Characters who have open eyes are straightforward and honest. Characters with shadowy eyes are dark. Characters with closed eyes are strong, but their motives are hidden. When they open those eyes, that's when shit is about to really go down. Characters with glasses on are smart. Characters with glasses on that obscure their eyes are scheming bastards. It's cool! It's so cool.

@Davi M. Kim That, also he is truly a master of Nen in every aspect. Netero being an Enhancer and using other Nen categories like a specialist shows a lot about his understanding of Nen. The only other character who is shown to have an absolute perfect control over Nen is Ging.

In any other series there would be one or two mastermind level intellects in an entire series, pulling the strings and doing dastardly things. HxH has 5 or 6 in this arc alone. Pariston, Beyond, Ging, Tserriednich, Chrollo.
And Hisoka! don't forget our lovely magician. Kurapika is extremely smart too

Had to watch this a second time... No matter how old Beyond may be, his body is clearly still in it's prime. Man I wish Togashi was healthy enough to work weekly or at least monthly. I wanna see more of the intellect and power of Beyond Netero.
During this arc, it’s easy to get caught up in the stories of the Princes, Kurapika, Leorio, Hisoka, the Phantom Troupe and the Zoldycks, but, when you remember this guy, you remember that whatever is going to happen with those stories will be nothing in comparison to what’s really coming.
I'd be very happy watching the animated version of this.
I think his need to go to the dark continent is related to the scar he has on his face, I believe he faced something strong out there that almost killed him and he’s chasing that feeling
More likely he got that scar from an ass-beating he received from his father when he was much younger
Kevin eh idk I have problems with that. Netero doesn’t seem like the good father type, so that could back up the scar, but I feel like he wasn’t involved in Beyonds life mostly because of what he’s done for the Zodiacs. Now beyond could be really old so there may have been a time they spent together but not too many things in the story make me think that. We know that both Neteros have gone to the dark continent. We know Beyond has gone and Netero ended up having to ban him from going till Netero died. Netero has stated that the dark continent is only a place of survival not fighting. (Something like that)
All those clues make me think that during Beyonds trip, he almost died, and due to this Netero banned him in order to keep alive a strong and worthy ally to the hunter association. (Which Beyond is definitely not) My tinfoil hat theory is that Don Freecs is the one who scarred Beyond and is the actual reason no one has been allowed to go to the dark continent. I see him as the gatekeeper I guess.
My problems with Netero being the one who scarred him is that usually in manga/anime if a father son relationship is like that, then the son is usually the person who kills the dad.
Either way there’s no way to prove what actually happened but I feel like it’d be lackluster to just have Netero be the cause of the scar since Netero is basically done for in the story, unless they do flashbacks, which could work for the scar. Idk I just feel like it’s supposed to represent something more considering Beyond is supposed to be stronger than Prime Netero
A theory on hunter hunter In the very 1st episode gon can talk to animals. On the ship he says the birds say "sea currents" could gon be a mix breed with something from the dark Continent? Something that would give him that power? And episode 37 its said his grandfather when to the dc maybe gon is gen's brother and not son...........gen's father when on a fishing trip and never returned....
Thats a common theory. That Ging went to the DC and Gon's biological mother is from the DC. The fact that Don Freecs wrote the dark continent book and that Gon has incredible senses and healing ability help support this theory.

Gon should go the Asta(of Black Clover)/Rock Lee route. Just pure hard work and become a physical monster so that by the time he's like 20 or smth after a timeskip of training, he'd be able to find some power/strength that can handle nen users.

I like the idea of gon having to earn his nen back someway. Though it sounds kinda funny, something like going back through greed Island and beating it without nen altogether or something of similar difficulty but new. Although unlikely if possible at all, he could it earn it in the dark continent by retrieving one of the artifacts they sought after in the other trips there. Or that he could still use nen but with a huge handicap. He can't control it for example being unable to use ten or having to learn it from scratch

Gosh this show is so amazing.....I hope it gets finished. I haven't even gotten through the chimera arc. I keep stopping before netero fights meurium (probably crucified that) and starting it over. Simply gold. I wasnt sure anything could top the arc that had the shadow beasts but I was wrong

My mind was blown I didn’t know you were grand like reviews!!! I’ve been watching HxH stuff for a month now and didn’t put two and two together

So, this is a little update I got after having some stuff translated by a native Japanese speaker and some heavy research with people who created the HxH wiki page.
So, in Chronological order, that is:
1. Begerose Union traveled to the DC. Brought back the calamity Papu, which is still in the International Environmental Protection Agency's basement.
2. The United States of Sahelta journeyed forth and brought back the calamity Brion.
3. The Federation of Ochima journeyed to the DC and brought back the Hellbell.
4. The Mimbo Republic journey and brought back the Ai. This was the first journey to the DC to involve the Hunter's Association.
5. Young Netero, likely a Hunter at this point alongside Linne, hears about the devastation. Wanting to test his strength, Linne, Zzigg Zoldyck and Netero go on an unofficial expedition to the DC following the same route as the Mimbo Republic. They turned heel before actually entering the DC and fled home. This may very well be because Zzigg became possessed by an Ai, potentially explaining why the Ai is in the Zoldyck family. He probably fought Maha around this point. Note, Maha might be Zzigg Zoldyck.
6. Netero feels he has reached the pinnacle of his abilities, and goes to the mountains to do the 10,000 punches of gratitude. He descends, finds himself to be practically unbeatable and "the most powerful nen user in the world". This was 60 years prior to the events of the series.
7. Netero challenges the Dark Continent again, and goes unofficially. He likely went alone on this trip. This time he entered the DC looking for an opponent. However, this time he left, satisfied that the 1v1 match he was looking for cannot be found there. (My theory is that he meet Don Freecss, who told him the type of fight he was looking for isn't found here).
8. Netero's son, Beyond Netero, decides to embark on an unexplored route, bringing back the Zobae disease. Netero bans his son from going there again until after he dies, and makes it taboo for the V5 and HA to go there, because of how many people have died trying, and because of the Apocalyptic threats they bring back. This was 50 years ago.
9. Sometime later, Netero is elected the 12th Chairman of the Hunters Association. This was 35-45 years prior to the events of the series.
This means that the calamities are, mostly, locked up in the human world (in the basement of the IEPA).
Netero and crew didn't even enter the DC the first time before turning heel.
Netero went back a second time, likely alone, and traveled part of the DC himself. Both of his trips were likely unofficial.
Don Freecss is exploring the shoreline of the DC. Not necessarily the entire DC itself.
There are likely two Ai's in the human world. The Zoldyck's Alluka, and whatever Ai they have contained that was brought back from the Mimbo Republic.

I feel like a good way for Gon to be reintroduced would be that he is unable to use Nen when he needs it the most, therefor leading to the death of someone he cares about. That way, if Gon does reawaken his Nen, his vow will end up being the reason somone close to him lost their life. This would make it feel like the vow wasn’t meaningless and be an overall satisfying way for Gon to return.
That’d be dumb if Gon never use nen again. I think he introduced the idea of people becoming a specialist later on for a reason. I think it’d be best if Gon has a different relationship with nen. He’s back home so he’s probably about to study and get smarter/decide on his next move. Him knowing about nen and not having it is dangerous...he’ll never be “normal” again
He probably will regain it but gon doesn't need another storyline

You know what I've realised in life. You can't have a good series of anything, have an ending that either exists, or has a satisfying/ good ending.
I'm an anime only watcher but I can't help but I love the dark continent and I absolutely love Beyond Netero. I don't care if he's evil just seeing his figure scares me.

Laugh Tale/Raftel is probably a portal to the Dark Continent or smth lol. Devil fruits would be a huge advantage in Hxh world tho, esp. Logia, since their bodies are now different. Luffy would brush off even Uvogin's attacks lol(unless Nen acts as some kind of Haki)

This is one of the reasons i love thos manga so damn much. Take away the Dark Continent and the world is still so extremely massive even the most intelligent people with access to all the worlds information (Being a Hunter) no one still knew about Beyond and thats so more than something considering he's probably close to as strong as his dad. I like to think he was living in the Kakian empire for all that time waiting for Netero to peace out
