    Any laptop is good for DJing, as long as you use it for DJing. I have a Lenovo 1TB 8Ram , 3 usb ports, works great with all DJ software for the past year. and costed me $750.

      Jose Lugo thts a pretty general statement, some people dj with videos as well and any laptop WON'T do...

      I forgot about that, thanks . But again my $750 got video , DJ, GoPro steaming , but I don't want people to think they need to spend $2000 on a laptop to DJ. It is the wrong message to send

    My mac just crash and ineed to buy a new one. What make confuse is either go to macbook air 2017 or a nice Asus ROG laptop. But still, both os (sierra & win10) is not compatible with serato scratch live. Found no problem with the rane sl3..

    The new mbp are getting mixed reviews due to the lack of USB ports so I'm told. There maybe a huge dj shift to windows machines in the near future maybe?

      I have the latest Windows 10 and MBP machines to play with everyday. WIndows 10 is killing MBP's overall in my opinion. However when it comes to music based software, things really do run better on Mac's.

    I'm really looking for somebody's help here I have a Hewlett-Packard laptop with a Pentium i5 processor if that makes any sense or core i5 processor but anyways my question is how come my laptop won't fully connect to Serato when I hook up my DDJ sb2 to the laptop it won't even show the two decks on the screen. Is there a certain setting in the laptop that I have to set? An ASAP response would be greatly appreciated

    • @DJRoubo
      @DJRoubo  7 лет назад

      It's hard to say. Have you tried a different USB Cable? Is the SB2 powered on? Does the computer actually see the SB2? Have you installed the correct drivers?

      About 4 years ago, my personal experience left me in the same situation. At the time, I was reading reviews and forums, attempting to troubleshoot but the issue, of non- compatibility, was consistently coming up. Switched to TRAKTOR, problem solved. I believe serato works better with an Apple or Mac, than a PC. AGAIN, this MY personal experience.

    Sorry dude! I was only able to listen to 2 min of the video before I bailed out. I've been in IT business since 2001 doing everything from network to point of sale to corporate infrastructure. I don't really engage in the Mac VS PC because in's pointless. You sir are giving bad information. I use windows and I've used a MAC. I have saved fellow DJ's from disaster on a few occasions because their MAC failed. I'm not saying this to bash apple but a HDD is a HDD. When you say MAC don't crash that's a LIE! If that were the case while working BestBuy geek squad I would not have fixed any and would be out of a job at that time. Bottom line is if you spend upwards of $2000 on a computer you should be getting a quality machine. However, it's not crash proof no matter what machine you get. The problem I have with that statement is when something does go wrong you have a person coming to a Tech distraught, as they spent a ton of money for a bullet proof machine because they were under the impression that they were impervious to all bad things of the world. Like I said before I could not stomach the rest of the video but I'm sure you would recommend beats headphones. In todays day it's all about preference. That's it! I can find a machine on both sides of the fence that will be killer and do what ever task put before them.

      A couple of things....This isn't a debate between Mac's and PC's. I am fairly agnostic and both have their strength's and weaknesses. The question is if you are a DJ, which operating system would you choose. In that context, the Mac wins. And this comes from someone that has run Serato, Traktor, Rekordbox, and VirtualDJ on both platforms. While they both work, I have fewer issues on the Mac than the PC. If the only thing you are focused on is that fact that I said, 'Mac's don't crash.' you missing out on the larger context of the video which are the benefits and weaknesses of BOTH platforms. Cheers and good luck!

    • @yukubaholmes7529
      @yukubaholmes7529 7 лет назад

      DJ Roubo it would have been better if you started off with "in my opinion"... Then everything else would have just fall into place. There are young people out there just now getting started who believe this rhetoric. Keep in mind I'm not saying that one person should go either direction but I try to stay very neutral when making decisions that are based around technology. Keeping in mind, I myself have used all of those platforms you mentioned as well.

      What would you recommend?

    • @dtwistrewind7361
      @dtwistrewind7361 7 лет назад

      DJ Roubo to be honest most laptops that have between 4-8gig ram and anything from the old i3 quads from any of the midrange lenovos HP's Acer perform just fine with keylock engaged on all 4 channels,as good as the core audio on a Mac is it's not the be all and end all and as a lot of us have external soundcards audio8/10 or serato box it matters a little less, i use a db2 with DVS exploit straight in to a lenovo z570 i3 2,2ghz quad with 8gig of ram so not in any way a new laptop and with all fx and keylock engaged and 4 decks running with a latency of 9ms and have no glitches and the CPU meter never even gets close to peaking and it's the same on an old Packard bell I used to use.so performance to pound ratio there are so many options available.but if the individual does not know how to tune a PC for pro audio stability then a locked down system like an apple would be the better option until they screw over all their machines by keep buggering about with the amount of usb's and adaptors to accept enough interfaces.

    • @DJRoubo
      @DJRoubo  7 лет назад

      Given the number of parameters that a pc/laptop can have and not knowing the level of user that will be watching the video, there is no way to be definitive about what to get. While I agree that Apple has been slowing down on the innovation side of the things, I still pick a Mac to do creative related things whether that is Djing or using Photoshop. (and I have access to both WIndows and Mac based machines). So I stand by that as the default. In terms of performance specs, I don't think we are that far apart. I would not recommend anything with an i3 especially if i were buying something used. This is not to say it would not work. In the video I mention my $100 Windows 10 tablet with 2GB of RAM and a 16GB Hard drive. Does it work? Yes. But the overall experience is pretty bad. I think a laptop with 8GB RAM, i5/i7 Processor, and a 256GB SSD Drive is a reasonable specification to start with considering you can get this for about $200 to start (used).
      PS - I have been using both PC's and Mac's for over 30 years and I still use each OS every single day.....so I do have long term personal experience with both systems. That said this is just my opinion:)

      DJ Roubo that's a fair assessment fella,I've loved computers since I was a kid with my Sinclair spectrum 48k yep born in the 70s,I've got nothing against Mac's I just find them very limiting in use and expensive for what are notably underclocked variants of the desktop chips which does aid in the stability side of things,good videos by the way.
