After 7 months of uploading this video, I received a copyright claim on one of the tracks towards the end (where I believe the most value is). Rather than taking the entire video down, I’ve decided to cut out that section and create a new version using royalty-free music. I’m currently building my new music/video setup, and I’ll record the updated video as soon as everything is ready. Once it’s done, I’ll attach the link here. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you for your continued support :)
My dad when he passed away left me with all his mixing and djing equipment and ive been really wanting to learn how to do it since iv started exploring djing for fansites for a game i play and this tutorial was really helpful with the basics! Thank you so much for helping me understand what it was that my dad did, even if its just a very basic level!
Sorry to hear about that, but I’m glad I could be that scope into a part of his life for you. I think you should play around with some of that gear, you might really enjoy it
How did I know within the first 20 seconds that you will be the first person to explain this stuff to me in a way that I can actually understand? In German, when someone explains something to someone whilst keeping in mind where this person's knowledge of the subject is at, we call it "jemanden abholen" or "to fetch someone". This is definitely one of your skills man. You fetched me.
This video really motivated me. Thank you for your help. The editing, professionalism, camera, shots, everything was perfect and clean. Please keep it up!
I'm just starting off as a beginner this one really helped me especially on the transition where by you play track one .....match BPM then bring in track two matching your beats .I play dancehall and riddims🇰🇪🇯🇲
It's quite interesting when one starts this journey from a software like Virtual DJ. It taught me a lot but you sir just explained some concepts I never understood their meaning. Thank you very much, God bless. 🙏🏽🙌🏽💯
I'm going to begin my DJ journey starting september, I'm going to buy a mixer and my laptop and practice, definitely gave me the basics with this I appreciate the lesson in your video!
Thank you SO much!!!! A few years ago, I downloaded a mobile dj app for fun on my phone and didn’t touch it for years until a couple of weeks ago. I recently have scrolled past this video because my cocky ass said ‘iM NoT a BeGInnEr’ but I clicked on it today to see if it had any helpful tips and boy did it ??!! Super helpful video that’s gotten me to the point where my parents are letting my but a controller ! Thank you so much and I would super thanks if I wasn’t gonna be broke after buying 75% of the description !!! Thanks again 🙃🙃🙃
Love the mix from track 1 into two, loved the actual trak. I was always a 125 to 128 kinda gal. Watching the steps close up made perfect since and also reminded me of the days long ago when I spent many a hour in a real DJ both in the late 80s-90s with my friends. I learned to make mix tapes from real vinyl way back when just for fun. Even they said I wasnt bad. I hope to try the new way just to see what I can learn. Just those nine steps seem doable at home. This was Fun, TY!! I will keep watching and learning. Hmm FLX4
I get asked about djing all the time. I always tell people it’s actually a lot more basic than it seems. Such a good vid for the basics! Thank you! Also the face when the BPMs aren’t matching….l😂😂
As a wedding and corporate DJ, I can tell you that it IS very basic. The hardest part about DJ'ing is track selection, imo. Reading the crowd, not killing the floor, and the fear of running out of bangers. I started with a company that used CDs and, let me tell you, that limited crate is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because you essentially put bangers-only in your crate (aside from dinner music) but a curse because "omgurd do you have this song" and you have to get creative to get either that song, or a song like it, on the floor. Well, depending on the bride and groom, obviously. Some drunk people just want every weird piece of abstract music you've never heard of played. lol But you can absolutely DJ with doing just basic fading and do it for years. Granted, you will occasionally get the "I thought I hired a DJ, not a human ipod" comments, to which I would say "you hired someone to read the floor and to MC your event" - if they wanted a club DJ, they should've went for a club or competitive DJ. Scratching and doing all kinds of crazy cuts and mixing is great, until you fk it up and what you gain from doing this is not worth the risk of fkin' it up while at a wedding. 99% of weddings are 100% satisfied with this kind of DJing.
Thank you, musician here with 50+ years of band experience but NO DJ experience at all but curious about the DJ desk possibilities after being at my sons wedding yesterday 🙂
Hi Dj thozi I was a dj in the late 90's using turn table records and cd mixer deck but i quit 20yrs ago missing out using the latest dj mix machines, but still have the skills and knowledge for mixing... I need your advice on what to do or need to come back as a dj.
Wat a short summary of powerful lesson this i did on virtual dj now i am ready to roll the gigs guys thank you brother i will give u cool drink when they book me😂😂
Good evening, very nice video, I wanted to ask a question that may be unrelated, but could you recommend a relatively cheap speaker to connect to my Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 DJ Controller and maybe you could tell me what cables I need like usb, rca to connect them because I've seen a lot of videos and I can't find someone to explain them in detail, I also don't know if the computer plays a role but I have a macbook air, thank you very much for your patience💛🙂
I dj on tiktok live i play straight bangers but my mixing is rubbish i just use effects then switch the track. when i see people dj there playing a track then bring in another so they r playing at the same time and it just sounds perfect that's what i need to learn i will try these steps 👊🏼
Part at 10:22 doesnt work for me. When i use the jogwheel to match it, once i let go, its out of sync again. The only way it stays is if I continuously spin the jog wheel
Just got my first controller and this video actually helped me so much. Most other tutorials are so fast and barely explain well but you were nice and slow, explained it in a way beginners can understand. Thank you! I’ll be back for more.
Is there a certain laptop I need? I bought the Ddj Flx4 and some laptop speakers(Creative Pebbles plus 2.1) and the pioneer headset but not a laptop yet. I like the way you broke everything down. Will definitely be taking your course!!! I think its R 699 which is equivalent to $38 in us
Brother that was amazing. I'm 41 and have always had a knack for timing and beats with music not dancing lol... Anyway I have been wanting to make beats and learn to mix so I could make my own music but seemed like such a learning curve... I know this is just the basics but you showed us in a concise efficient way that I easy knew all the steps at the end.... Great video! You are a great teacher! New sub!!!!
Thozi thank you so much for helping me My father is a dj and he is helping me to become. Dj So to impress my father I wanted to try to know more things we use for dj So one day I impress my father by doing amazing things of dj

You should turn this into a series bro. You explained everything so well.
Big facts
Sounds like he did! He has a course on his website. :)
I agree he really should

I've watched DJing tutorials but this one takes the cup, thanks bro🙌👏👏

Hey! This video means a lot to a beginner DJ
You are a good teacher bro I really appreciate your help
God bless u
I dont have any interest in ever using this equipment. But wondered how it works.
Great video!!! Very informative
I don’t DJ, I don’t own any DJ equipment, I don’t know how I got here, but you’re an amazing teacher! Now I’m intrigued!
Just stay live and save, Ian gonna need to watch u on and on now u are my youtube teachers
you are the man! super simple and easy to understand demonstration of the basic transition
😉
Hey Thozi.... can you do a video on how to record your dj set live and what equipment will be needed 😢🙏🏾
Good video but this is only for this low bpm house music. This will not sound good when trying to mix drum and bass when you slowly swap the low freqs
Fair, there isn’t a mixing style/technique that applies or sounds great for every possible genre
@@thozimusic That´s true
I’m a beginner just DJing in my basement for now but this video was really helpful. Thanks man I appreciate it 🫡

It really is, unless you wanna get into technical scratching then it’s a different conversation
About the face, that thing just hurts to hear 😅

Hi, can you show me several transitions for the same BPM and different BPM values, e.g. 90 - 120
Thank you very much
So how do you bring track number two back down to its original tempo without losing the rhythm
