Brilliant info here for me. I am a 45 year old DJ that has only just moved from CDJ1000s to an XDJ RX3 so I have to learn all this Recordbox business in export and performance. This video has helped me analyse my tracks and now I can start using the hardware with the laptop. Great presentation here my friend ❤️💯
You truly saved me! I hadn't been able to find my folders when I would plug in to play at shows for the last several weeks. Just a hope and a prayer every time. THANK YOU for the clear & quick explanation!
very helpful thank you I finally made the switch from serato to rekordbox and its been so much fun playing ob CDJS without a laptop. I highly recommend every dj to make the switch to rekord box as its a no hassle way to play tracks and connect with your crowd minus the laptop. I love you all.
Same here, for going from controller to the CDJs. These guys are a big help. You sure cannot get that much help out there as you used to. Even as being a DJ and knowing this stuff, sometimes you get stuck and need help figuring these things out and there used to be people that they can contact or collaborate with like other DJs or Pioneer personnel that can help you for cheap, but now it’s all about the money, so you’re kind of on your own. Thank you so much Crossfader, you’re my heroes. 👍
How do you ensure that the entire track order you had on rekordbox playlist on your laptop, will show up in the exact same order when you plug in your usb on a new hardware? Thanks for the awesome videos.
Put numbers before the titles then it will be ordered by those numbers Eg if I want "Nipsey Hussle - Mr Untouchable" to come up 1st, I'd change the file title to "1- Nipsey Hussle - Mr Untouchable" And do the same with the rest of my playlist
Good stuff man. You should have gone into the 'options' a bit though when Exporting your USBs, some real important Metadata stuff you can only change/set when Exporting like how your 'Key' is displayed, Alphanumeric ect when you plug the Sticks into the Players
Is there anyway at all to just import the play list so you have one folder with the tracks in, rather than having artist name, album name, then the file?
Great video thank you! But you left out one tip that i had to find elswhere to get this to work at all. Apparently you cannot format to FAT32 unless your usb is 32gb or smaller. I bought a larger one and the format option does not appear whatsoever and i was very frustrated for a few hours until i figured it out! Thanks again though!
@@hagridpeter4454 i just went and bought a USB that was 32gb and it was set to FAT32 by default so i didnt even have to do anything. The USB has to be 32gb or smaller to format to FAT32
Thanks for the video but what I noticed is that you can find hundreds of similar videos on youtube about exporting rekordbox playlist to USB but why nobody mentions about file formats? The official CDJ documentation mentions that 44/24 bit is a supported file format but in reality these type of file are not recognized by CDJs so I assume the only way is to use 44/16bit? Any recommendation or experience regarding AIFF?
2025 UPDATE: In Rekordbox 7, the "Synch Manager" is now a tiny little icon in the Left Tree view that looks like circular recycle arrows. Not sure why Rekordbox hid this icon, failed to put it in a dropdown menu, and also didn't put "Synch Manager" as a right click option in "Export Playlist > Synch Manager". Also not sure how having a Performance Mode and Export Mode are even necessary at all.. Seems like a better design to just use Performance mode and have the Export options available there, rather than have to switch to a separate mode entirely... It's almost like exporting to USB to play on a CDJ was an "afterthought" or workaround.
Hey mate been having some issues as I just got back from a 4 gig tour. DO you have a private box so I can explain my issue with RB and exporting info to USB problem . Waiting for the Pioneer Forum is way too long. RD
any way to get a peep at that UK garage folder o.O. would be happy just listening to a mix from it! i love ukg but im very picky and the good stuff is hard to find!
Great video Jamie, I've followed your steps - all was fine apart from one thing... when I made new playlists and hit sync manager, I could not see them in the D drive (USB), what I am I doing wrong?
When I click the synchronize playlist with device box nothing happens . 😞 I have a gig this coming Friday I’m doing transition from controller to cdjs . I’m struggling with all this computer ways . I really appreciate your videos are very informative. So do you know what I’m facing ? Thanks in advance
Thank you for the video! But I’ve done these exact steps and it then stops on certain percentages when exporting! 😭 I have the newest rekordbox, new usb Please help!!
Why it does't work for me? The files doesn't have the exclamation sign... Is it the files format? I really made important cue points and loops on my PC, and sometimes I need to play on other devices, I just want to import these cue points and loops to the USB drive so I don't have to be a day before making every cue points and loops over and over again.
I’ve seen a couple videos covering the same transfer from Recordbox to USB, I think it’s more efficient and safer to directly transfer all your music from record box to your music files and then on to a USB, that way you can use the same USB on other DAWs and extensions while still having all your music saved in one place! Let me know if this helps, peace out ✌🏽
I have an interesting question and strangly enough, nobody talks about it. When I export files to USB or SD card, rekordbox shows me a message that not all files ware exported, but does not say WHY. I did proper tags ex, nothing helps. Also Rekordbox makes a text file in My Documents folder/ Rekordbox with the files that are not exported. Any video maybe on the subject?

thanks for all the info! newbie here, does anyone know if it's only for cdj or can I use the usb for xdj's and cdj at the same time?
Where do you find the history tracks on the USB to make the playlist after you have played the songs? Trying to find the history of songs on the computer to put the playlist out there.
It would also be useful if you could explain how to deal with tracks that fail to export to your USB. Rekord Box just prompts you to look at the export log for errors...
I have since this comment figured out why it does this. When this happens you will be given a log list of what tracks didn’t export. Just go into your Playlist, find the track and try to play in in the Playlist. It won’t play, which means you have to right click and AUTO RELOCATE. It will take a couple of seconds and your done. Do this to all the track that didn’t export and then Export the whole list again. Then it will work fine!!!
Excelent video.. I am afraid you forgot to say that when exporting to a usb pen drive you alxo esport the menu configuration of the CDj.( colors of the wave, etc..)... Do you have any other video on this?
Thnx a lot! 1 question: when I export any playlist to usb via Sync Manager, the Name of the playlist doesnt show up. It only says Unknown Artist (with every playlist). Can I just rename the playlist later on on the USB drive or isnt that a good idea?
Loved this video - really well explained! When I try to transfer playlists from rekordbox to my USB it skips transferring the same playlists each time. Could this mean my USB is corrupted?
Excellent video. I just wish it worked for me. I have tried both FAT32 and Mac OS Journaled. I have also tried three different jump drives: Sandisk Extreme Pro 3.1, Sandisk Extreme 3.0, and a PNY 2.0. I have no idea what is going on. The export window just stays at 0%. I am on Monterey 12.6 and Rekordbox 6.67. Any help is appreciated.
do you use MAster boot record or guid partition while clicking in security options? any reasones my sandisk extreme 64gb are too slow? in fat32 and journaled
Good video. When exporting, why can we not link to the media already on the stick, instead of having to make a new copy? I keep all my media on my stick.
hello, very useful video, but I had a problem, a practice with the external ssd that I used as a rekordbox library to then export to another ssd or usb stick, unfortunately it broke. Now I find myself in the situation of having the whole library on the ssd where I had exported all the playlists of my library. Is there a way to put the library back to how it was before???
Hello, I have my first proper gig tonight. And I’ve exported my songs onto my usb but I’m scared incase I get there and they haven’t been exported properly. Is there any way of checking this prior? Any quick reply would be very appreciated
Thanks for the video. I'm new to RB coming from Serato. I have imported my library to RB? but I don't have any playlists. Is it possible to bring my library onto a USB without having any playlists? All my crates are still in Serato, I've been trying to convert them using the DJCU but I haven't had much success! Any ideas. Thanks
Do you have to do this everytime you want to add a new playlist to your drive? I need to erase everything and format everytime I want to add new playlist?
I watched your tutorial and I still dont see the files on my USB drive. I looked in contents and did not see anything. I used the sync manger as you suggested. HELp
Thanks for the video. When i start RB i get a message with the RB symbol and a lock saying RB wants to make changes and asks me to enter my PW info. When i do it rejects it. when i hit cancel RB starts up! Any idea what thats about? Thanks
What do we do if iTunes has transferred over to Mac Music. Rekordbox export keep showing iTunes, but not Music. So the old iTunes folders are old. How to update that?

You did a fantastic job explaining 👏🏽 thank you !
Thanks man! This vid just probably saved me, first time this weekend playing on Cdj’s. Respect.
1:27 Why I don't have an access to the "Export Mode"? Is it because I use the free version of Rekordbox? Thanks in advance.
Did you found out mate?
Good stuff man. You should have gone into the 'options' a bit though when Exporting your USBs, some real important Metadata stuff you can only change/set when Exporting like how your 'Key' is displayed, Alphanumeric ect when you plug the Sticks into the Players
thank you for this. Had to download and get familiar with rekord box for a club I was DJing at and this helped me save all my cues for my set!
You're so good at explaining and showing the steps. Thank you so much
Thank you Jamie, thanks to this video I was able to perform last night without any problems.
really helped! did my first gig and it went well hopefully i can keep coming back to play
Super comprehensive and thorough thank you so much!

I just have the option of MS-DOS(FAT) . Is it ok or it have to be the one you show here specifically?
Thanks for all your helpa Jamie and your hair looks good 😄 love n support from Turkey

I know how to do this I just came here cuz I saw your hair is longer. Looks good jamie, cheers mate

What's the best USB stic to use with CDJ's??? What brand ?
As a beginner DJ who needed mp3 export and was getting despondent about the .flac and .wav mode, THANK YOUUUU
all your videos have been a tremendous help

does the tracks in usb neet to be wav or mp3 ??
it seems that it can only be mp3

This is a very good information, Thank You. Am I able to export my entire collection to USB using sync manager rather than just a playlist?
Very helpful vid.
Is there a vid for connecting the laptop straight into the CDJs, rather than using USBs?
They made a video on this a few years ago: ruclips.net/video/BEzmzuoQB-M/видео.html
