    I have same issue with check engine light. The code said camshaft position and turbo boost. Also valve or the pulley might be the issue. But it shows oil pressure warning after driving at least 40 miles in total. I might have to take it to the dealer pay 150 to find out the issue if I can’t find a mechanic can work on Passat 08.

    It's PCV valve. VW is fixinbg it for free. Just below the plastic engine cover, towards front of car. Easy to replace. Part is $95 with VW dealer. This is a known issue so dealer should do it for free.

      @Kylan Rogers Ignorance is bliss until your engine fails, normal running engines phone make loud ticking sounds take years apart and find out what your clearances are, there are weak points in this engine that Volkswagen has addressed in later models. Do your own research save yourself money the warning signs are free.

    is the timing tensioner!!

  • @Joelost20
    @Joelost20 7 лет назад +4

    Timing chain tensioner, replace do not drive until you fix that, your engine will be destroyed if that chain rattles around so much that it skips and gets off track, or breaks, it is not to late, beleive me fix it soon

    • @tedg3721

      I just boght a 09 2.0T passat CC.. and the engine has that similar noise, but a bit quieter. So you're saying that 's the tensioner in the timing? This motor has a timing CHAIN... so would it be a valve train issue?

    • @stevecvntniko8271
      @stevecvntniko8271 6 лет назад +1

      TG 77 it's a common problem just replace the cam follower (easy and cheap) But the chain + tensioner takes so long. Then 3 parts above cause these engine to sound like a c0ck in a sock

  • @whoisjoebailey

    mine has almost 200k on it and sounds just like it, maybe better

  • @somaliahwallace987
    @somaliahwallace987 9 лет назад +1

    did you ever figure out the problem?

  • @elciddonis
    @elciddonis 6 лет назад +4

    There is no timing chain in that engine, it uses timing belt that needs to be change every 90k miles, that noise can be the serpentine belt tensioner.

    • @fixedgear37
      @fixedgear37 6 лет назад +8

      julio donis wrong. There is a chain in the driver's side that times the cams. Do your research.

    • @elichad6809
      @elichad6809 6 лет назад +2

      If it didn't have a chain the vehicle wouldn't even run it's only common sense but anyway he has a broken cam chain tensioner and possibly a worn out camshaft follower
