Well, I am becoming so smart from these videos of yours & have been binge watching one after another. Got me some supplies & will start slow, maybe make my daughter-in-laws each a keepsake to put in next Christmas stocking. Now, onto that cat, omg, he is wonderful! Such a strong & stocky speciman of the feline type. Love that his name reflects what he is. 🐕. Once I get these tutorials down, I’m gonna tune in for the cats antics. Love it when he makes you have to stop due to his ‘inappropriate’ contortions! lol Love from Texas🌵🫶🏻🤠🌼

Ah, my lovely Ging, so glad you're back, I've missed you. Another very informative video Sarah, thank you. My favourite has to be the overstretched Pearl Purl - I have seen you use this technique before. with a very rich purple, and was it deep red thread, one of the regal colours anyway. It is so unfussy yet classy, just beautiful. It has been facinating to see what you have achieved with a very simple design, and goldwork is next on my list to try. However, I remember you once advising to finish all pieces that are being worked on, so I intend doing that first, then will give goldwork a try. Thanks again Sarah.
Thanks Sarah, another great video and I love the overstretched Pearl Purl technique.....very inspiring!. What I also adore about your video is that you don't move your big Ginger boy but let him sit with you and work around him........that's a true sign of a cat lover!
Patreon comment - thanks Sarah Ive spent the afternoon watching your channel. Got Covid and cant do much. Your videos have been so helpful and add to the absolutely wonderful RSN tuition in the Certificate course ❤😊
Wonderful to watch these types of stitches with yr colors and gold- its really nuce to see up clise and where you stop and hiw you hide the gold Lovely and am exciting to do this! TY-
Very clear instructions and easy to follow your video. I have a very, lovely, cross ornament my sister bought me several years ago. It is in grey, silver and white. 1st time I ever saw metal decorative thread. Now I understand how the silver metal work was done. Makes the ornament more stylish. Future project will involve gold/silver work. Need to get 4 cross stitch projects done 1st. It will be some time before I can try these new wonderful techniques. Thank you😊
Que projeto maravilhoso!!! Sarah , seus projetos me dá tanta inspiração . Seus bordados e uma arte . Adoro como você mistura , várias texturas de linhas e pontos. 🙏🌼
Thank you for this lovely peacock series! Your channel is a must for anyone learning embroidery. I absolutely love the peacock with the overstretched purl purl! I've seen the gold pattern outlines many times in your videos and am wondering what kind of pen you used to mark the pattern on the fabric.
Thank you Jacqueline, glad you are enjoying the videos! Anything with a gold outline has either been painted by hand in gold paint (as for the peacocks) or sometimes screen printed in gold paint (the flower outline in the blackwork videos)
Hi Sarah, this is Jinia from India. Have been watching your videos for quite some time now and I must say that I love them all. Thank you for the amazing tutorials and tips. Just wanted to know how to work on larger pieces of fabric, say for a table cover or bed cover? Does an embroidery stand help? TIA.
Hi Jinia! Thank you for your membership support 🙏. To work on larger projects you could use a ring frame and move it around the piece as you stitch, you could work it in sections and sew the pieces together or just work it in your hand
You can find the outline for the peacocks for free on Sarah's website. There's a link to them in the description just underneath the video. Click on "SHOW MORE" and you should see the link. It's got a green tick beside it. Once you get to her "free stuff" page, just scroll down until you reach the peacocks.
Inspiring! I usually stick to natural fibers on material and use metals on greeting cards. What is the long term affect of the metal on the fiber? I am always concerned with how the metal will age over time and how it will react to the other threads, fiber and wax.
There are pieces of goldwork embroidery hundreds and hundreds of years old D'Ann still in excellent condition (see my Opus Anglicanum medieval embroidery videos!). The metals will tarnish but this is accepted as part of the technique and they don't damage the other threads in doing so. Using beeswax on the thread will help to protect it from the metals which can be sharp so using a good qaulity sewing thread is a good idea.
Hi Sarah, what kind of material do you to put embroidery on? What is the name of the fabric? I’d also like to buy needles. I bought generic “embroidery needles” and they’re all too short. Do you have an on-line store? I love watching you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I am sure this is a rather beginner question, but when you say "even stitches" how long is your average stitch? I ask because I have done blackwork on Aida thread but have not worked on cotton or linen. On Aida fabric my stitch length is automatic based on the weave of the fabric.
That's really hard to answer Julie as it depends on what stitches you are doing and the context it's in. Try looking at the stitches in the video in relation to my fingers to get an idea of scale (jump on the pause button!). The stitches really need to not be so long they could get caught on things or break so you can apply a certain amount of logic to it also. Try a few samples making them longer and longer and you will soon see what's too long!

Hello Ginger Cat, another great video, thank you. We lost London Bead Co in Kentish Town, very sad.
That's a good idea to put on the gold or any colour shiny floss. but what we use its own colour,
I've never heard of the over-stretched purl purl edge before. It's pretty.
Such lovely stitching! Very cool video to watch and listen to while I hand quilt. Thank you for posting this!
