Paul Dano's Riddler was what disappointed me the most about this year's movie. The "real" Riddler would never fully cover his face, and DEFINITELY would never try to come across as physically intimidating. Even worse, I've always taken it for granted that Edward Nygma ENJOYED being the Riddler. Frank Gorshin, who I met shortly before he died, once said that the character was naturally confident and optimistic, and became a criminal simply for the fun of challenging others. But the Riddler I saw in this year's movie was bitter and miserable, and seemed to be taking perverse satisfaction rather than truly having fun.

Well without Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill has officially retired from the role and I think it's safe to say it's for good this time. While I'd love to see Cameron in something live action, I'd be all for him taking over for animated and video game appearances. Cal Kestis is physically based on and moccaped by him, so why not let him do the mocap for Mr J too?
David Mazouz is my favorite version of Bruce Wayne. The delivery of his lines and his body language scream BATMAN! The onscreen chemistry between Cameron and David is perfect. It's just a shame they couldn't be Joker and Batamn respectively.
David and Cameron were perfect - I only wish we got more Jerome and Bruce interaction instead of Jeremiah because I feel there was just more to them. First of all - they had history. Jerome tried to kill Bruce twice and then it feels like a greater set-up when Bruce... Punches his face off (ah context). With their later interactions just being more interesting to me. Like you can tell Bruce sometimes feels genuinely sorry for him, while also being absolutely disgusted and overall "wtf is wrong with you". And Jerome slowly developing obsessive tendencies towards him and shifting from seeing him as his victim, to even questioning if he wants him dead. It's just great relationship development and reminds me of Arkham Origins. I think, in a way, Jerome was the first one to really see Batman in him when he decided not to kill him. He also expresses Bruce was the only person to "help" him which intrigued him in the first place. Jerome presence also literally haunts him after his death - in the same episode where Bruce was hunting his parents' killer which felt super important for some reason? And secondly - they had a lot of interesting parallels that I'm pretty sure were not purposeful but still happened. I don't remember how many of them I caught at the time of watching but what mainly interested me is this; they both lost their parents to become what they are - the interesting difference being, Bruce lost his loving family to a criminal while Jerome killed his parents himself for all the abuse he went through. They both had been freaky outcasts. The weirdest and smallest thing I've caught was - they both had a weird little diary where they were doodling their own vision of the future. Like, huh. *tldr* Jerome and Bruce felt more like two sides of the same coin to me - incredibly similar while also being very obvious opposites which was ultimately way more interesting to me.
Penguin's storyline is exactly what I want from movies/shows about villains. We got a character who is every bit as fun and full of depth as any good protagonist. With his own trials and tribulations. His own work and personal life. His own goals and wants. But also just happens to be an evil piece of shit. Why? Because we like the character. Simple as that. We don't need to to constantly center their story around the morality of their actions. We just need them to be as they've always been, just now we're walking in their shoes.
Gotham started going way overboard with the villains in later seasons and they should've just kept Jerome as the joker instead of the dumb twin storyline
I liked the twin storyline at first; I just wish Jerome had’ve killed Jeremiah and continued being the Joker character of that world. He worked so much better as that character
Glad this show gets some appreciation, it is way too underrated. There has been put too much heart and care into it to not acknowledge. This Penguin was definitely someone you really root for, no matter what they do.
I watched from the start and when I saw the promo I said “really? A ginger joker? He looks like chucky😂” I was so glad to be wrong he was absolutely awesome as the joker
Seeing as if I'm not mistaken Fallen Order takes place the same year Luke and Leia are born, I'd love to see a scene with Luke and Cal down the road, where perhaps they even share a laugh?
@@tokyodeathghoul2313 Funny because I saw a clip of a Scooby Doo animated movie clip where Mark Hamill - yes animated Mark Hamill - does the Joker laugh.
Gotham is actually a really great show! Seasons 1-4 were all so good! Season 5 was a bit rushed, but on the whole a great conclusion. It’s fantastic and deserves another look!
So in DC canon, there is more than 1 joker. Jerome was true to the most popular version of joker from the comics and I feel Jeremiah was a more original take on the joker. One I personally enjoyed, I love the calm and controlled chaos of Jeremiah
I think that the new penguin costume in the finale would have worked really well if not for the fat suit, it just looked like he had a pillow in his shirt and it really ruined it
I think that is what we got towards the end. I did Love the cold calculated introduction. The long live me scene and then Infront of GCPD was amazing to me and was sorry to see it go.
jerome already was cold and calculated from time to time tho, especially while in arkham in season 4. this kind of thing gets boring fast, which is why we need jerome's humor
I don't know why you didn’t mention the best dynamic that this show produced, which was the Penguin and Riddler. The Riddler was seriously my favorite villain, and it’s hard to choose as this is one of those shows that you put on when you have literally run out of all Batman media content and are expecting very little from it. Then, it not only became interesting but roped me in so hard that I legit never thought I would be a God-Damn Riddler fan. The stupid but awesome way these two would bounce off each other was amazing. I can’t say enough about this Riddler and how this guy manages to pull off the whole green suit and not only rock it but kill it! I love how the Penguin represented raw emotion in its fullest range and the Riddler its level of Machiavellian intelligence and cold logic. Watching these two funny idiots, and yes, they were funny in a good way, constantly interact with one another and cement what a villain's BFF scenario would look like was amazing to me. In all the Batman EVERYTHING I have consumed, I always found those two villains kind of boring and lame. Even in BTAS, I would be like, oh man, ugh, a Penguin episode, or in anything, be like, oh, Riddler is in this, ugh. But with this show, that's literally all I wanted to watch, and if episodes would skip either of these two, I would be like, oh, come on! I love those guys, and I couldn’t believe how a show that was barely on my list of DC-related content I wanted to watch quickly sucked me in and is now one of my top favorites. I don't care what anyone says; now I finally have a Penguin and Riddler version I like, and to me, it’s the ones from this show. Also, last thing… This show isn’t just some goofy, cartoonish, let-me-be-on-my-phone-while-it’s-playing-in-the-background series; this show was actually smart in ways I think went over a lot of people’s heads, even those who liked it. It shows a city’s evolution little by little into madness to the point that you can’t even compare the fictional city from season 1 to the last season. It would be like living in a city for your whole life, moving away for 5 years, and coming back to visit, asking yourself, what in the fuck happened to this city? They did it with this slow burn that was intense, and one can truly say, “Man, that city went to hell.” It is the personification of that saying, “I wish we were back in the good old days,” and by “good,” meaning that we took just mobsters and crooked cops for granted as being bad because this is sheer utter madness now. The evolution and devolution of every character are executed little by little beautifully that while you are in it, you don’t even realize how far off the rails this place has gone, especially to its MAIN character - Gotham City itself as an entity. Ah, you thought I was going to say Bruce Wayne - nah, and I never ever thought I would utter these words like ever - he was actually the weakest part of this show. And yeah he was a kid/teenager, but they could have done a better job with our beloved main hero even at that age. Like anytime it was just a Bruce Wayne after-school special-centric episode, I knew it was going to be one where I could possibly pick up my phone and halfway pay attention since I won’t be missing much. BUT thankfully, we got the most badass Alfred that carried his segments. In the end, I couldn’t be upset about it because I would then remember, yeah, this is called Gotham - it’s about Gotham, not Batman. No seriously, with all the characters practically coming to life, Bruce Wayne was the one not going to do that; that version remained two-dimensional, and so much so that it was cringe when he would start evolving into Batman with his “fight scenes” that I would be like, please God, don’t do this, this is awkward. Let’s see the Riddler mess with Penguin again and outsmart him creatively in any way possible. This show and its characters are the ones that created our Batman as we know it, and I’m sticking with that. Like people always whining about how Batman created his villains, nah, because if we take every characteristic we love about Batman and Bruce Wayne, they truly are each represented in every character. For example, you love Batman’s intelligence, go see Riddler in action, Raw rage Batman, the kind that is like beat them now and ask questions later, go see Penguin, etc. Even Jim Gordon - you want the stoic and more slick conflicted Bruce Wayne, yeah, go take a look at his character. Truly, each characteristic of Batman separately is in his future villains and friends. I could write an essay on this aspect and convince all of you since it’s truly there, like putting pieces of a puzzle together or a woven tapestry of surrealism; THEY created Batman and Bruce Wayne without even knowing it! Gotham gave birth to Batman and Bruce Wayne! In the end, your environment is what molds you. In this case, imagine none of these characters existed, and Gotham was some basic average city that, yeah, like any city, has its standard crime and monsters with corrupted cops and city officials, we would have been stuck with this lanky, bland, boring version of no Batman, but just this guy, but as an adult - some boring rich guy known as Bruce Wayne. This is one of those rare shows you just stumble upon and didn’t know much about it, but then afterward think, man, I am glad I found a tiny gem like this. It goes to show you that the shows and movies we lay heavy expectations on and are eager to watch just end up not being as satisfying as they should have been. Whereas this one is everything you actually wanted but never realized it even existed.
I'm would swear that Monaghan watched BTAS and listened to Ledger in preparation for this show because those are respectively the visual and vocal performances that I'm reminded of most. If he didn't, he sincerely knocked it out the park
imo, thats why iHATED him! we've seen this version before. done better. By superior actors. Who've won awards. PLAYING THE JOKER. I'll spare the pun about their level of commitment to character compare to his.... like he never posed any real threat on his own AT ALL. So, they had to give him a long lost twin.
I love how much of a Batman nerd David is, you can really see the passion he has for the character, and it definitely shows in how amazing his performance is as Bruce Wayne.
Gotham definitely has some of the best portrails of batman's villains and villains in general some were just so perfect the show is amazing all around forever will be one of my favorites
Mazous is too old to work with Robert, and Robert is to Young However, if Ben Affleck was around, Mazouz would be a great nighting Rather have Scott Adkins. over both Imagine Karate Kid with Bruce Wayne in the Miyagi role and Dick Grayson in the role of Daniel Larusso
I genuinely feel some genius felt the need to pitch a show entirely around the incredible origin story for the Penguin, and the casting is the perfect pairing to the writing. Penguin literally made that show, and was the one thing that really hooked me. A perfect example of fleshing out a character more fully
Hallelujah! SEE THIS GUY GETS IT! PERFECT PERFORMANCE. Him & Sean Pertwee's Alfred, off the top of my head, only actor's felt genuine portraits thru-out the series. Lets be honest....there was ALOT TERRIBLE ACTING/OVERACTING since its initial debut. Like if iWasnt heavily invested into Nygma, Alfred, Falcone & Maroni, especially the blood curdler scream by David... i'd beg jim to put a bullet in my head too. but, yeah, CMS Riddler = FLAWLESS!!!
5:47 I still get goosebumps at this scene. I'll never forget the first time I saw it and how shockingly good this dude was and could be as a potential Joker.
Jeremiah, Jerome and J take on the roles of each of the Three Jokers Jeremiah = Criminal Jerome = Clown J = Comedian (But god damn J really needs a redesign )
Professor Pyg is in my opinion, the best villain of the show, he’s so wonderful and despite being a schizophrenic surgeon serial killer, he’s fuckin charming as all hell. Him singing during the pie scene is amazing and can’t be beat.
I love spreading the under appreciation Gotham got. Did the final season get rushed and fall flat? Yes. Did they have a joker problem? Yes. Do i still love the show? Yes. The good outweighs the bad
Jerome is great! And Penguin WOW!!! No tv character has ever made me feel the way he made me feel. Penguin made me constantly laugh. He made me cry. And his relationship with the riddler made me believe in love.
What did you think of Alyssa Milano's Poison Ivy on the same show? I didn't care for it. She didn't sound like Ivy. She sounded like Milano quoting Ivy in a court transcript during Ivy's sentencing.
@@fireflow726 What's ironic about the casting is that Milano is clearly not the counterpart to Poison Ivy, but to Harley Quinn. More than that - she IS Harley Quinn! She was even born in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn, which is also Harley's birthplace according to the recent animated series. What more proof does anyone need? That's why, in my imagination, a teenage/twentysomething Alyssa Milano was Harley Quinn in BATMAN: UNCHAINED (the fifth Burton/Schumacher film that was right on the cusp of going into production but never got made). In fact, a part of me hopes that film STILL gets made, this time with a 50-year-old Harley opposing Michael Keaton's 70-year-old Batman.
He is the best live-action joker I absolutely loved Heath ledger but I also grew up reading the comics and watching Batman the animated series and Cameron is by far the closest we've ever had to a correct joker
@@Chuck_EL Well idk who he was but the arc for Barbara was amazing to me. Took the bit role of Jim Gordon’s ex-wife-and it was MINOR-and crafted a full character. Kinda weird that she was rehabilitated by the end but still interesting that she made it though the entire show without dying.
I dont think Jeremiah is a BAD performance, i think that its like you said - a different comics Joker, the silent, sane and calm Joker. I really like both performances but like most people i believe the Joker should be like Jerome but saying that Jeremiah isnt the Joker is wrong since he is a take on it that was present before the show. I think its still a GREAT performance just wasnt the one you wanted. Its like taking a very bad storyline from the comics and doing it PERFECTLY, you wont like it but its still a good performance.
I subscribed simply because you told the truth that I've known for years that a lot of people tried to deny, that Cameron Monaghan was the best Joker we have ever seen. Jerome and Jeremiah were the absolute best part of the show
Jeremiah’s makeover feels like it’s trying to be Batman animated series joker but also trying to be Nicholson joker and it doesn’t work but I still like the character
I think there was an ending where Jerome was resurrected with the Lazarus Pit and BOTH were supposed to be up there, after it breaks, one falls off and we don’t know which one it is.
@@JamesCPotter13 If both Jerome and Jeremiah fell into the bath of acid and only one comes out as The Joker, you would just have to see if Joker have his face reattached and has his smile streched to see if he's Jerome, and if he doesn't he's Jeremiah, also Jerome's brain was destroyed so even if Jerome came back to life again he would be braindead
My favorite villain was Penguin. Sure, it was hard to get used to his height and weight (presumably the disease that deforms him hasn't taken effect yet), but he made the great villain who doesn't seem like much but keeps surviving via unconventional brilliance.
All of the actors and actresses in Gotham took their respective roles so seriously is the reason why the show turned out SO GOOD.!I am so grateful for the young & talented pool of casts they have decided to select :)) I hope the casts know that they have so much potential and will accomplish great things in their acting career
Fun fact before being typecast as an iconic villain Mark Hamill actually played the hero in a series of little known scifi movies called Star Wars Original Triilogy Parts 4 to 6
@@paulglover2778 right lol even my sons who are ages 16 and 18 knew Mark Hamill was Luke Skywalker and the voice of Joker in the original cartoon and the Arkham games since they played all three games
I was very skeptical going into this show, and I just finished it a few weeks ago. Gotta say, it's got the best versions of most of Batman villains. The Joker from TDK is still the best, but Jerome is not far behind. And permanent cast members Penguin and Riddler were just amazing in this version.
A memory I will forever have attached to this show was the first time I binge watched all of it with my stepdad ,we were both recovering from different surgery's at the time and I still remember at the end of Jerome's first episode watching him switch from fake crying to laughter I looked at my stepdad and asked if he knew who that was and he immediately said The Joker (His knowledge of Batman only goes as far as some of the movies)
The VILLAINS is what kept me watching this show...If I take the time to talk about all the great performances by all the villain actors this would be too long...The portrayals of Penguin and The Riddler are the best to me in my opinion....😎
Exactly bro!! And in my opinion it feels like Hollywood is sceared of making batman villains ever so slightly goofy, but gotham, they make riddler a charismatic guy rather than an emo twitch streamer, gotham made characters like mad hatter feel look a million bucks. (Edit) I'm not saying Robert's batman movie wasn't good , it was great, and the Riddler they have is good but Gotham's riddler was perfect
Gothams joker was like the book the three jokers Jerome was a mix of the Clown and comedian where as Jeremiah was the criminal the mobster more calm cool collected joker. edit: David brought up the 3 jokers apparently but he didn't connect the versions.
Smallville was definitely popular when it was on TV and even now it's getting more and more attention which I love that and Gotham are honestly my top 2 favorite shows love both so much
I loved this show because it felt original and creative. The show runners didn't have the rights to certain characters and story line so they found creative ways to get around these limitations.
The movie portrayals by Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix, I do not want to mention Jared Leto, felt more like a broken man, someone that just had one bad day and broke down, while Cameron Monaghan's portrayal feels like a force of nature, pure chaos embodied and that's what makes him so great in my eyes, he's not an intriguing backstory, we're watching his story unfold before our eyes
I was literally only interested in the show because of the villains I just found Bruce Wayne to be boring and annoying but I fell in love with the Riddler and the "Joker/Jeremiah" this show casted amazing people to bring these villains to life
Say what you want abkut Gotham, but to me David Mazouz is the definitive Bruce Wayne. The fact that as he's getting older he's actually starting to resemble the comics Bruce is just awesome to see as a fan.
While I really dont like Jeremiah as the new joker throughout the ending of the show, I loved his catalyst for going insane being that his whole goal was to do what Jerome never could, kill Jim Gordan and Bruce Wayne. And when he couldnt accomplish that it drove him crazy. It also gives an actually good reason to be obsessed with killing them instead of just (Oh well its the last thing I was doing before i died so yadayada.
I would just like to say that when it comes to Echo? It is possible her loyalty was a result of Jeremiah's manipulation before he even became the Joker or was sprayed with the insanity gas. The reason I say this is simply because of the fact that Jerome exposed Jeremiah as just as insane or evil as Jerome, with the only difference between them being Jeremiah's manipulative tendencies and nature to scheme. Jeremiah himself confessed that he lied about Jerome's attempts to take his life back when they were younger, lies he likely schemed and made as an attempt to "dispose" of Jerome. Now looking at both the brothers and their different methods of destruction, the manipulation and brainwashing of Echo fits Jeremiah Valeska's personality. Jerome said it himself "you're as crazy as I am." The only difference between them both is their goals, with Jerome being an anarchist and a cult leader who wanted to prove that everybody was just as crazy as him, while Jeremiah was a schemer who was obsessed with Bruce Wayne and their connection as well as destroying Gotham.
Netflix should make a sequel series about Batman. The entire cast is older now, David Mazouz is in his 20’s, he’s old enough to play Batman, and the actors who play the villains are old enough to be Batman’s villains instead of just Gotham’s villains.
Personally for me Gotham has some of my favorite iterations of some bad guys the only exceptions are Harley second iteration Joker in Solomon Grundy because all the Legacy villains and characters I felt like got fleshed out in ways to where I saw especially with penguin and Riddler like The Human Side that feel like gets overshadowed by their crazy antics
Can we please give more credit to Jada Pinkett Smith's Fish Mooney?? The fact that a completely original character created exclusively for the show became one of the best characters was astonishing. I really hate her being killed off so early on. Such a captivating and fascinating villian and didn't even have any source material as a basis. Say what you will about Jada Pinkett Smith, she did an exceptional job bringing the character to life. She's so intimidating, intense, and complex, and everytime she speaks she sends a chill down my spine. "I'm Fish Mooney Bitch!" They just have to adapt her into the comics or other media!
I don't think "at least they took a previously nothing character and made that character into something" being a good thing is very situational. So, here's the thing, Barbara doesn't need any sort of characterization. She was written to be Jim's wife, and that's all that she should be. No need to turn her into a thing. Additionally, I don't understand how Jim's gonna explain the nature of her name to his daughter in this universe. "Yes, Barbara, your mother was an insane fucking person whom I used to love very much. That's why I named you after her." Right.
Jerome is the most comic book accurate live action joker and no one can tell me otherwise, how ever I still say Heath is still the best live action joker for me and Mark is the best Joker period!
Personally, when the show started I didn't want them to do the joker for two reasons. 1. No set in stone backstory should ever exist for joker. 2. Batman should be directly tied to the creation of the joker. I feel they successfully skirted the second and when the actors this perfect I can take a hit on the first lol
Gotham was such a good insane show. Literally anything could happen every week. Maybe not everything made sense but it was definitely fun and better than every CW show.
I think the Joker Cult was more of a statement of the Joker fans in real life. After Ledger, a lot of people dress up as the Joker. It hasn't slowed down.
One thing I like about asking the cast members about "Jerome vs. Jeremiah" is that because it's the same actor, they don't have to throw one of them under the bus.
Except David lol

I liked the twin storyline at first; I just wish Jerome had’ve killed Jeremiah and continued being the Joker character of that world. He worked so much better as that character
@@helzbelle13 I never did
They should have stick with regular criminals instead of Batman's villains because most should not exist yet.
The biggest flaw in this show for me was the character of Barbara Kean. The actress was great, but the writers clearly didn't know what to do with her
The Mad Hatter was pretty cool too
Yes one of the best
Yeah the actor did a great interpretation.
Shame we haven't gotten any more Mad Hatter live action roles.
@bruhmanofyear2 I hope he's the villain in the Reeves' Batman sequel
Agreed
That guy was crayyyzeeee
Glad this show gets some appreciation, it is way too underrated. There has been put too much heart and care into it to not acknowledge.
This Penguin was definitely someone you really root for, no matter what they do.
is it underrated? it was pretty popular during 1-4 seasons, and even tho 5 season had the lowest rating out of them every episode still trended
I watched from the start and when I saw the promo I said “really? A ginger joker? He looks like chucky😂” I was so glad to be wrong he was absolutely awesome as the joker
Joker is naturally a red head since his creation
That Chucky part killed me HAHAHA
We Gingers are the craziest. How can you NOT think the craziest psycho in fictional serial killer history isn’t going to be a redhead?
Honestly, Cameron Monaghan could cosplay as Chucky.

I miss Gotham 😢 such a great show with amazing actors!
Gotham is actually a really great show! Seasons 1-4 were all so good! Season 5 was a bit rushed, but on the whole a great conclusion. It’s fantastic and deserves another look!
Facts one of my favorite shows ever
it was VERY rushed because they cancelled it early and had to cram everything
If the show hadn't been cancelled season 5 would've been amazing, I'm sure of it
Him being illegally the joker even more fits the character 😂😂😂
So in DC canon, there is more than 1 joker. Jerome was true to the most popular version of joker from the comics and I feel Jeremiah was a more original take on the joker. One I personally enjoyed, I love the calm and controlled chaos of Jeremiah
So glad it wasn't just me. I loved the monotone and stern stare.
I think that the new penguin costume in the finale would have worked really well if not for the fat suit, it just looked like he had a pillow in his shirt and it really ruined it
I honestly think the best version of joker would be a mix of Jerome and Jeremiah. Crazy but also cold and calculating when needed to be
I think that is what we got towards the end.
Jerome isnt just up there, the Gotham Joker is the best interpretation of the joker in any show imo
Whereas this one is everything you actually wanted but never realized it even existed.
we didnt order a yappacino buddy
I'm would swear that Monaghan watched BTAS and listened to Ledger in preparation for this show because those are respectively the visual and vocal performances that I'm reminded of most. If he didn't, he sincerely knocked it out the park

Underappreciated for sure but it definitely has a good chunk of fans which makes me very happy

I think David Mazouz would play a amazing Robin, he would fit in well in partnership with Robert Pattinson
agreed
Mazous is too old to work with Robert, and Robert is to Young
However, if Ben Affleck was around, Mazouz would be a great nighting
Rather have Scott Adkins. over both
Imagine Karate Kid with Bruce Wayne in the Miyagi role and Dick Grayson in the role of Daniel Larusso
Mazouz as Robin and Pattinson as Nightwing would be great.
I think Jeremiah was more akin to joker from the white knight run or even dark knight returns. Much more calm and calculated
I genuinely feel some genius felt the need to pitch a show entirely around the incredible origin story for the Penguin, and the casting is the perfect pairing to the writing. Penguin literally made that show, and was the one thing that really hooked me. A perfect example of fleshing out a character more fully

Jeremiah, Jerome and J take on the roles of each of the Three Jokers
Jeremiah = Criminal
Jerome = Clown
J = Comedian (But god damn J really needs a redesign )
the "comedian" kinda struggled with comedy tbh
Professor Pyg is in my opinion, the best villain of the show, he’s so wonderful and despite being a schizophrenic surgeon serial killer, he’s fuckin charming as all hell. Him singing during the pie scene is amazing and can’t be beat.
i agree to this. Feel like the Professor Pyg in the show didn't get enough mention.
As far as Brent Spiner's Joker goes, he was really great in the Audio Adventures. It was so subdued and fantastic
What did you think of Alyssa Milano's Poison Ivy on the same show? I didn't care for it. She didn't sound like Ivy. She sounded like Milano quoting Ivy in a court transcript during Ivy's sentencing.
@@SeasideDetective2 I havent gotten to Ivey yet actually. I'm keen to find out though!

A redesigned J and Barbara Keen would be such a power duo
Netflix should make a sequel series about Batman. The entire cast is older now, David Mazouz is in his 20’s, he’s old enough to play Batman, and the actors who play the villains are old enough to be Batman’s villains instead of just Gotham’s villains.
The riddler was great
Jerome was clearly the joker and I loved that for once joker was played and killed at first and his second death was pure joker style
Best joker Jerome

Personally for me Gotham has some of my favorite iterations of some bad guys the only exceptions are Harley second iteration Joker in Solomon Grundy because all the Legacy villains and characters I felt like got fleshed out in ways to where I saw especially with penguin and Riddler like The Human Side that feel like gets overshadowed by their crazy antics
I was hoping they were gonna make Lee Harley Quinn. I always thought Morena Baccarin really resembles the character.
Weirdly enough, Barbara Kean is *also* present in Batman '89, but as an extra during the Wayne Manor party scene.

That's why I named you after her." Right.
fr I thought Barbara was gonna die and Jim would name their daughter after her in her honor or something. That would have made more sense to me
Jerome is the most comic book accurate live action joker and no one can tell me otherwise, how ever I still say Heath is still the best live action joker for me and Mark is the best Joker period!
The Gotham idea of the joker was brilliant and thought through very well
Personally, when the show started I didn't want them to do the joker for two reasons. 1. No set in stone backstory should ever exist for joker. 2. Batman should be directly tied to the creation of the joker. I feel they successfully skirted the second and when the actors this perfect I can take a hit on the first lol
However, Jeremiah's origin story is very unclear.
