    I was a Freshman when Anthony Carter was a Junior in 1981 and went to all the home games. It was awesome! Had so much fun. Don't remember much, but I know I had fun! This is so cool with Bob Ufer calling the plays on the radio, too!

    To all the young Michigan fans who didn’t get to see him play, he would have made ESPNs plays of the week every week this man was phenomenal to watch, u guys think Denard tore it up?!!!! This man was unreal and clutch clutch clutch!!!...There is NO Number 1 jersey without Anthony Carter....when u think of Charles and Des do not leave this man out how he didn’t win the heisman was just ridiculous!!!

    I honestly think that AC was one if the best athletes out of Florida to this day. He was humble and was a team guy. For him to change Michigan Football the way he did was remarkable and he should be remembered for the next 100 years

    I got a chance to see AC play at Michigan and I got those same goose bumps as I did when I saw Michael Jordan in Auburn Hills.

    People today won't remember. But back in the day, teams were TERRIFIED of AC.
    All American 3 years in a row.
    THE best Michigan wide receiver I ever saw. They were still a run-first team back then. And run second. And run third...

    I've been watching some of the highlights from his pro days in the USFL with the Panthers, a true Michigan man in both college and the pros. Was the best player on Michigan's last championship pro football team.

    Anthony Carter was the best Michigan wide out ever not even close the numbers he put up were primarily on option teams if he had the qbs like the other great UM wide outs had his records would still not be broken

      L Kline, his name was mcmurtry, but it was a crime giving him AC’s #1, which should have been retired anyway, but he wasn’t even a shadow of AC and should certainly NEVER be mentioned in the same sentence with AC ever again!
      GM isn’t anywhere on my list of top M receivers since 1970 (I don’t even remember any of the wr’s from 67-69 which goes back to my first games starting at 6 yrs old, but I sure remember the great TE Mandich!)

    Braylon Edwards was asked if he was the best reciever in Michigan's history, and he said yes. I have to disagree. Bo ran the ball 70% of the time, and AC still had a ton of records. I watched AC play, and I think he is still the best reciever in UM history.

    Greatest of all time, lions was to cheap to send a second round pick to Miami for him, but Minnesota did. You was the best AC. GO BLUE.

    Devota Smith reminds me of A C. He was one of my favorites when I was a kid. Instant Offense! Growing up in the Tri-state area, ABC would ALWAYS show the Big 10. Fun times in the late 70/early 80s.

    Thanks so much for this! Both for the AC highlights and Bob Ufer's calls. I went to Michigan and was there in person for the Indiana game. After returning from the game, my friends told me how Bob Ufer totally lost his mind calling that game on the radio but I never heard heard it until recently on YT. AC had a fluid stride like nobody I've ever seen. Just warming up he really stood out. Bo Schembechler was well known for conservative, running football but he knew what he had with Carter and to his credit, completely changed his style of offense. This was a once in a generation player for Michigan.

    My Reason For Loving Michigan but I must admit I for some reason always thought he was from Bama, but doesn't matter because in those days it was all Michigan and Nebraska. The Game was never over with that #1 on the Field . Classy, Greatest Athletic and one thing he done that Bear Bryant always said is when you score act like youve been there before and Anthony always did!

    LOL I beat you all I got to see him play at Suncoast High Rivera Beach, Florida he graduated 2 yrs ahead of my class. Made friends with him before he left High School. Damn Good Player !!!

    I can rember being a kid when he was done playing football at Michigan I almost started crying because looking at it through a kids eyes I thought that they would never win another game without him.

    The thing that set him apart was his fluidity. Like he was effortlessly gliding on air. When he would change directions he would never lose any speed, dude never broke stride.

    I was at that Indiana game - it was the most electric moment I've ever seen on a football field. The crowd went absolutely nuts. Up until that point UM was not playing very well against a bad team.

    If someone asked you to name a clutch, big-play WR who is not mentioned often enough. That guy would be Anthony Carter.
    If he played with Dan Marino or Joe Montana, he would be in the Hall of Fame.

      I stand corrected, thank you, Dave. I should have noticed right away that the clip is from the '81 Rose Bowl, since they're playing Washington. Enberg and Merlin Olsen did the call for the Rose Bowl on NBC every year from 1980-88.

    AC is an all time great in CFB...in USFL... and a really good WR in the NFL.

    In the NFL, AC played with only average QBs. If he had at least good QBs, he would have had much bigger numbers and would be in hall of fame. No player was better at pure receiver talent

    thanks buddy, brings back great memories....the one on minnesota in 1980 i remember ufer saying 'nobody in america could have stopped that pass'...i kind of miss the days when you had to listen to the radio...but we had ufer...i wonder if you can dig up that minny game and the real coming out party from 1980...mich 35...lee corso 0....the game was supposed to be indianas revenge for 79...lol

    I'm guessing plenty here are, but who's old enough to remember when any team could lose on any Saturday? Back when college football and especially the big ten was the meat grinder big ten basketball is this year.

      Yes back in the day the big ten was stack from top to bottom. Isn't the same now especially with the divisions split up. U have penn Ohio and Michigan in the east . But I guess they where trying not to have the same teams in the Big Ten championship game every yr. So I guess it's fair in a way.
