Man hearing Keith Jackson’s voice watching Desmond Howard’s Heisman season highlights takes me to when I was a kid. I remember Fall time and how much I loved watching those Michigan teams kick ass on Saturday Afternoons! Howard, Wheatley, Grabic, Alexander, Irons,Hutchinson, TD Tim, the list goes on with great players!
That last play gives me chills when he does the pose. I am a Packers fan and Desmond Howard was the right man for the job. I don't think there was a better college receiver then him.
I LOVED watching him. Michigan football was so awesome to watch in the 90’s. Our skilled positions were SO loaded - year after year! Desmond’s “Heisman Pose” will go down in history as THE greatest end zone celebration ever. EVER. GO Fricken Blue baby! 〽️
If Howard would have returned his senior year, which would have been 1992, That 8-0-3.....and 1993 Rose Bowl champions might have been National champions.....but we'll never know.....GO BLUE!
im a wolverine fan, so ofc im biased......but OMG, is there a more perfect moment in CF history than Keith Jackson saying, "goodbye! hello heisman!" followed by desmond striking the pose? not IMO :D
I wish people like desmond and woodson could win the heisman now a days. It just a contest of which quarterback has a better team. It would have been great to see McCaffery win it last year
Didn't get to watch Desmond play but watching these highlights made me realize how great he was and also why he won the heisman trophy that year. That's a ridiculous amount of td's to score in one season even in today's game.
I was 10 years old Desmond Howards Heisman Winning Season living In Saginaw, Mich w/ my grandparents it was my first full season of watching college football and the 91-92 Michigan squad was special I wouldnt trade it for anything watching my favorite player till this day "The Magic Man" do his thing. Helloooo Heisman!!!!
That TD catch in double coverage against a very strong Notre Dame team on 4th and 1...."And went for it all! A diving catch!"...will always be my favorite play in college football. Too epic!
The best compilation of Desmond Howard’s plays culminating with his Hesiman pose. Just great! Times were awesome back than. Announcers were great and the football was fabulous. Miss those days 🙏😁
I loved how back in the day, when a player would score a touchdown and dang near the whole offense would celebrate with him. all lot of that is missing in today's game. BTW: Desmond Howard was electrifying in college!
The interesting thing is both Desmond Howard and Elvis Grbac are from the Cleveland, Ohio area. Both went to the same high school: Cleveland St. Joseph High School.
I was in South Bend for that game. On a whim, a great friend of mine decided Friday night “we’re going to the game tomorrow!!” (As we’re getting snookered drinkin Heinekens and rolling fatty’s all night!!). So we stay up ALL night without a minute of sleep - canNOT find tickets below $450/ea so we end up in some craphole sports bar right outside the stadium. Had a blast! But when Desmond caught that pass, it was pandemonium!!! I went BatShitCrazy!!! From then on for a decade or so it turned in to a yearly thing (wherever it was played). But we did it up right. Hotel rooms, tickets ahead of time, always a three day wkend when in Ann Arbor. Some of the BEST times of my life happened on those long Ann Arbor weekends! Lemme tell ya. 😂 Go Fricken Blue baby! 〽️
Guys like Desmond and Charles still do win the Heisman , it’s just that a player that doesn’t touch the ball every play has to have a huge impact on the game when they do get touches. Where as a QB touches the ball every play
Uh, you do realize that Michigan won the B1G title last year, and is currently 8-0, in the top 5. Life is good as a Michigan fan right now, but before Harbaugh came, you're right, it was hell from 2008-2014 (except 2011).
It was such a landslide vote for the Heisman that season as Desmond Magic Howard garnered the most first place votes in Heisman history ...beating out Simpson's old record at USC.
As a life long Notre Dame fan, and all love to Howard, I thought Rocket had it in the bag. I think the head to head rivalry special teams return by Howard sealed it, though.
Shout out to Desmond! In this comment I wanted to share a perspective on a topic that many may ponder (unnaturally) on a given day - namely quantum physics. @@Riles3152 Yes... but it wasn't as a WR. He was a great KR/PR, making plenty of big plays and winning games for the team he played for. BUT.... he was also a really good receiver in college and that with his returns skills is what won him the Heisman. Now he goes to the NFL where I don't think he ever broke 500 yards in a season receiving? Thus "another great WR that didn't pan out".
@@abrahambrereton738 OMG... how difficult is it to explain this?!?!? He was considered a "Great" WR coming out of College, it wasn't just his KR/PR duties that got him the heisman though they definitely helped. YET if you LOOK at his damn receiving numbers in the NFL as a Heisman winner and "great" WR he had subpar numbers... that's what I'm saying, there's been a lot of "Great" Michigan WRs that have turned around and been subpar at best in their position in the NFL.... JFC!!!
He was good but not nearly as good as AC! With the possible exception of Charles Woodson, no other M player was as good as AC, He changed M football! to a passing machine. AC was better than Jerry Rice! Like Barry Sanders, he never spiked the ball. A class act.
Gee, kinda remember the Rose Bowl with Washington and Michigan. Don't remember Desmond doing the H pose but a Husky as Washington ran all over the Wolverines. Michigan and their offense with Desmond were no match for Washington's defense.
Gee, you mean the Washington team that had rampant steroid abuse? Michigan didn’t have a chance against Don James and his drug program. His office was a pharmacy and we all know what happened to Don James and that rotten program. No one remembers that Washington team, but everybody remembers Desmond Howard. 1. Desmond Howard
2. Denard Robinson
3. Anthony Carter
4. Tyrone Wheatley
Charles woodson is the best
Yeah Charles Woodson definitely needs to be in the top 3 at least
Yeah Woodson I say #1 first defensive player to win a heisman
Braylon Edwards too. And Jake Long. Best offensive lineman of the 00's
uhhh, where is Woodson? To me its Woodson #1.
