On the 2017 and 2018 silverado / sirera 1500 they have that louver system in front of the radiator that is part of the emmision system so you cannot remove it. You have to remove those plastic fasteners at the top core support cover. The grille pretty much just pops off after that . Be carefull. THAT'S A $900.00 GRILLE. What I ended up doing is buy the curved led light bar and doing a lot of measuring. The louver system is perfectly strait on the front. What I did was ran a piece if painters tape across the top and bottom to form a strait line. Except for the 2" wide notch I put in the center of the cooling fins on the back of the light to clear the vertical louver brace , I pretty much cut the cooling fins all the way across to make the back side flat to go up against the factory radiator louvers. The light bar I got was 37" long. I had to go below the chevy bowtie . There is no room for an upper light bar. Tape it off and paint all the fins with primer and black paint to seal them.
@@OG-ht7vl I bought a cheaper curved one for mine. You are going to lose the warranty as soon as you start cutting the cooling fins on the backside of the light. I was very careful to make the light bar fit behind there. My light bar was perfecly alighned with the slots in the grille. My custom brackets bolted to the radiator support on each end.
Hey is there a reason why a lot of people put the light bars on the bottom of the grill instead of the top I’m think of putting one on the top of the bow tie of the grill but I’m afraid of blocking the air flow to the radiator since the light bar is a 42” by 3” and it’s going to be right against the back of the grill. I’m even thinking of maybe trimming the fins to the like bar to allow a gap so the air can go around the light.
Yes!, when it comes to blizzard/fog/anything causing obatruction in front of you, it makes it harder when the beam is eye leveled and harder to spot the ground, when the light bar is lower, it beams out the ground and light bounces upward making it easier to see. Highbeams don't work during blizzard and lower light bar lights the ground up. Happens a lot here in alaska lmao
John, Wow those are freaking bright holy Christmas. Nice install guys. Great video. as for your question I don't really care what you guys are working on does it have to be Mopar as long as you guys are wrenching. How's the Jetta doing can we have an update ? General repair
I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado and bought AUXBEAM 8 Gang On-Off Control Switch Panel Electronic Relay System. I wanted on box that i can hook up 8 different Items. I don't want to hook it directly to the battery because of The draw. Under the hood the fuse box is right there. Which fuse can I use that will be able to handle the light bar?
Mike Chenier: i am wondering if you could mount the light bars but cut out the grill in the area where the light bars are. The reason i ask this is because do you loose light because it hits the back side of the grill or do you still get enough light to not have to worry about doing this.
@boosted is there a bypass for the Silverado 2018 ltz active shutters?. Wanna put the LED light bar but it has the active shutters. N seen ur dodge u got a lot to bypass the engine light. Don’t want my engine light on lol. So if there please lmk thanks
Hey Ben just remove the motor from the active shutters and plug it in out of the way. That should keep the computer happy and the check engine light off
BoostedMotorsports If you don’t mind me asking what state are you located in cause I live in Vegas and the summer here is like 110 degrees and have you done any sort of towing or carry a decent load on the truck?? I wanna install 2 light bars in my grill just worried about over heating
It messes with the emission system if you remove it. It is meant to promote a faster warm up when cold. It also goes through a diagnostic position open/close check to make sure it is working properly. You cannot just remove the whole thing.
Been thinking of a light bar for my 2018 Silverado High Country, but it has the air shutters in front. Would like to know how you routed that switch inside the cab though.
Hey boostedmotosports on your grill the black area that’s above and below the bow tie actually what’s covering the light bars did that coke stock black or did you paint it? Mine is stock chrome but looking to possibly make it black or remove the upper chrome part to install different grill inserts. Thanks
Do you have the dimensions of the top light bar you installed? Just want to make sure one I order will fit as well. Will a two row light bar be to large to fit in the space?
@boosted did u guys remove that part that behind the grill? i have a 2018 ltz wen i remove the grills sell like theres wings that open n close. that what stoping me from installing the light bar
Broooo!!! That's freaking awesome! ❤ gonna have to "try" to put something like that on my Ram. What about replacing with curved light bar later?? Great Video though! Note: engine needs some cleaning (just saying) 😉
The crosshair grille will block some of the light but its definitely possible! With the procharger intercooler there isn't any room for this kind of this on our current truck 😁
Light bars are universal and it just depends on where you want to mount, how much light you want, how you will supply power to the lamp and clearance available to fit the light bar. As long as you check these 4 things then you can mount a light bar anywhere and on any vehicle.
The ones we supplied are 31in. Check the area for clearance and let us know what size should go in there and we can check to see if we have an option that fits those measurements. Give us a call at 6263300711 so we can guide you with this.
Check these jdmastar.com/product/695/4200-LM-60W-13-quot-Waterproof-Off-Road-CREE-LED-Light-Bar-Flood-Spot-Lamp.html Wiring harness are out of stock but those are easy to come by. Amazon has many options from 3rd party vendors.
Great video! Thinking about installing a light bar but my truck has active grille shutters. Think those would get in the way, or would you recommend removing the shutters?
The ones we used are no longer available but grab yourself 2 of these off Amazon and you'll be all set with the same results! 💪

Some 2018 Silverados have an air shutter behind the grill. I know mine does, you should make another video
Jovan Rosales my serria has the air shutter too they told me I couldn’t put the light bar or I have to take it off.
Did you take it off? Or you figure out a different way because I’m looking to do this to, but I can’t because of the shutters...
I’d like to know also
2018 Z71 Same here. Trying to figure out how to install mine without taking out the louvers.
the way you guys wired it into the cab was genius?

Thanks! Jetta is working great for a daily beater! I'll update everyone soon on that!
Did your truck have the active grill shutters behind the grill?
Those are seriously bright... great install - might have to see what I can do for my RAM.
Question? just did my own install on one these light bars but my remote lights always stays on, is this normal and will it drain my battery?
Any update on this? I just did the install and was wondering the same thing

Was there any issue with cooling after removing the duct from behind the grill?
I love the double light bars. Can you put a link on the upper light bar brackets you got. I can’t find any. Thanks
We just bought L Brackets from home depot and drilled the holes out to mount the lightbar on, twisted them 90* and then painted them black. 🤘

I have the same truck looking to put the same light bar you did on bottom you said the 32 inch will fit?
My buddy has double bars behind the grille too and a 40 inch on his toolbox he said he uses the rear for tailgaters😂😂
Smart idea, highly illegal but very smart!

Nope no cooling issues in the desert heat! 😎

@@jeremydoyharzabal170 The truck is in CA so similar heat but he hasn't towed much with it.

I have a question about the wiring. How did you wire both lights to one switch? Or did the harness come already setup to light both bars?
Hey Boosted, I have a 2017 with the louvers can I leave them out and just leave the motor and will it cause and heat or cooling issues thanks RJ

lol yeah its a pretty clean setup! I'm curious what stories he will have soon 🤣
Love that upgrade!!! Looks dope, what size are the light bars?
where did the grill shutters go?
Missed a big part of where you sent it through the firewall?
You think that would work for a 2015 Silverado 2500HD?

Trying to purchase the same lights can’t find them on Jdm astra website
I want that jdm hopefully I can install them

This truck didn't have the active grill shutters but you would probably have to remove them if your truck has them!
My truck has the same but I just took out the individual shutters that were in the way
do you know if they will fit in a 2020 Trail Boss Chevy

Yeah if my truck was built for an offroad look and didn't have the procharger intercooler back there I would do something like this for mine too! 😎
yeah but you can blind them before you blow their doors off ;)
That thing is pretty slow I don't know if he will be doing that 🤣
So you didn’t post a link for a single row light bar for the top will a double row fit? It didn’t look like there was that much room for it!
