How to Install and Wire Auxbeam LED Light Bar behind 2014-2018 Silverado Sierra Grille

  • In this video we show how to install and wire a 32" Auxbeam Quad Beam light bar behind my 2014 Silverado grille. This process should be nearly identical on all 3rd generation Silverado and Sierra trucks (2014 - 2018).
    The main steps used in this video will be applicable to most light bar installations. In a follow up video we will be showing how to wire the light bar to your vehicle's high beams using a 3 way on-off-on switch. This will allow the light bar to act independently or in conjunction with your high beams. Keep in mind if your truck came with air baffles, the installation location shown in this video will not work but the process will be the same.

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  3 года назад

      The switch I'm using with the 3 way connection doesn't have an led but the one that come with the light bar does. LEDs draw a very little power so it would take a long time to kill the battery. Probably weeks. As long as the battery is healthy and the truck is getting driven every couple of days you shouldn't have a problem. I've left a dash cam plugged in to constant power for several days and was able to start up fine. That's not a guarantee it couldn't kill the battery but I think it unlikely.

      The Sundae Drive Bummer! was just about to work on this project and there are no videos that I can find on the matter. Trying to figure out what I might need that I don't already have. Were you planning on tapping the fuse? or going after a certain wire?

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  5 лет назад

      I know! I was looking for one too and haven't found one either. You should get a diode so that power cannot be sent back to the vehicle, you'll need a relay if you are going to use an on off on style switch so that it can be operated independent of the high beams. I was planning on tapping into a wire. I believe the fuse is inside the engine bay but not positive. Both options will work. I did find one video where a guy does it on a bench but not specific to our trucks

    • @williammagarian3712
      @williammagarian3712 5 лет назад

      The Sundae Drive I found a fuse in the block specifically for the high beams for a fuse tap, which to me seems a little cleaner than splicing a wire, but what do I know haha. Would love to pick your brain on the process a little bit. I looked for a 'private message' option, but I don't think youtube has one.. would you be up for an email or something if I gave you mine? Thanks for replying so quick!

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  5 лет назад

      I think I remember it is a larger fuse then your standard one so there aren't any fuse taps that work for it. Some guys have been shoving a wire into the fuse to make it work but I don't like that method which is why I was going to go for a tap. You could tap directly behind the high beams. Yup!
