Thanks! It's lightshowpi running an equaliser visualiser matrix with a custom pallate. Took some soldering, some editing python code, definitely worth it though!
@@jonmckenzie6923 yeah, for sure happy to offer advice, though for in depth mixing I'd really recommend a master of the art which I'm not quite 😅 Also can I just check, by not being able to tell it's a cover, can you still hear my part? I like to think it's a good balance where my part is definitely audible but it mixes well.. It's a fine balance honestly 🤔
Thanks, I think it is an epic piece, I recently was informed one of the rhythms is a sorting algorithm, which when considering the lyrics makes it really deep, semiotic and meta.. Hopefully I did the piece justice, thanks for watching! ❤️🙏
Aand No solo because I was really trying with both this and Born in Dissonance.. But it has taken ages without time to focus on more complex leads. I can do the temping time bit by AAL as it flows nicely, but honestly both this and BiD solos are really tappy and hard. I'm thinking I'll do a separate video for them once I've managed it.
@@aceofphrase oooh I've been thinking about doing I.. And yeah a few more from koloss can't hurt, I even want to redo some dodgy ones from earlier like rational gaze and pravus.
You’re actually a beast. This cover is so damn great 👍🏼 😊🤘🏼. Currently struggling with this one as I speak 😅😅, probably my favorite off The Violent Sleep of Reason.
Thank you so much ❤️🙏 yeah this track is amazing they chose well putting it first. Keep at it, it's ok to struggle through, musicians just call that faking it til you make it 😉
@@XOCailleach161XO you ;) . girl who likes meshuggah. plays not only guitar but 8 string at that. oh and knows that multi scale is better than standard
@@thomasbranch7866 nyawww thanks 😅 Yeah, I will admit though in my silly youth, getting this made in 2012,i got the perpendicular fret at 12th so the 1st fret has too much fan, having the perp at 7th shifts the extreme fan to the higher frets which don't need barring. And yeah, huge meshuggah fan, and this guitar really helped me learn and appreciate how awesome the playing in their music is :) Thanks for your sweet words, brightens my day really 😘
Extremely precise rhythm picking. I can’t tell if thats an ibanez, shecter, or agile guitar. Looks multiscale to me. I personally love the Agile Intrepid 8 string. Awesome video though.
Oh oops.. I forgot this is an older video, it's my custom, made by a different Aussie guy, Etherial guitars. Much earlier in the progression of multiscale 8s, it's not as clean as my much more recent ormsby
This is by far the sickest cover i've ever seen! I just turned 16 and got my first electric guitar about 2 months ago.. and it was an 8 string! I've been practicing like crazy since the day I got it hoping to play like this one day, do you have any tips?
Thanks so much! Congrats on your new axe! I remember when I got my custom just a year older than you, those early days playing a new 8 string were really fun! The most important tip I would give is to learn how the bottom string is a little different, even down to the 7th string you can play it just like a normal guitar, you can hit the strings a little harder and chug power chords in what I guess I just see as the typical guitar metal picking way, but the bottom on an 8 is more like a bass, power chords this low don't ring out quite the same frequency wise, and single note stuff you learn the sweet spot for how hard you pick, too much and you'll get a slightly sharper pitch. But mostly I just see that bottom string as halfway to a bass, so you just handle it a little different to your higher strings. It's also really useful for finding interesting chord voicings, try extending 6th string root chords with the 8th tuned an octave below (like drop tuning) Sorry if that's too much, but I hope it's helpful!
Yo, this is fucking sick. Outstanding. It’s nice to see other people out in the wild putting in this insane amount of work to extract lessons from Meshuggah. Subbed. We should chat guitar sometime - this is awesome.
It's elective surgery, I'll be right in a month. And sure Ill send you a message. I was thinking trying twitch again doing alaysis of parts, which works best with another musician to deconstruct and discuss with.
awwww man that's such a huge compliment! If i didn't feel weird and disrespectful about sexually objectifying musicians I respect deeply, there'd totally be some weird daddy vibes there hahahaha but also yes just the daughter thing is a huge compliment thank you!!!
Unless I list a tuning, you can assume it's standard meshuggah tuning. Pretty much only exceptions are from a nothing, and shed off catch 33, which has the F dropped to Eb. Spasm on nothing, has a low Bb below the 7th string Bb. Glints collide, organic shadows and Stengah are all a whole step down from standard, E standard rather than F.
It's an early Etherial custom, an Australian luthier. I think he's great but there were some issues that needed fixing. That said it's aged nicely over 8 years, still sounds great with the right tone. It has bare knuckle aftermath, 26-29" scale, The white bits on the inlay glow in the dark.. Maybe I should actually use that for videos lol but it requires charging and I have flashy lights reflecting much better anyway.. Soo tl;Dr its a custom by a smallish I think Luthier in NSW Australia, etherial and they make some way wackier designs than this too..
I’ve never seen anyone cover this song better than you and Josh Seguin. Much respect. Well done!
Oh wow that's such a huge compliment, thank you so much! ❤️🙏
Mesmerizing. Watching Meshuggah covers with tabs is enthralling.
Absolutely love this cover! That bridge riff is a BANGER ❤
Had questions but this answered them all. Ty.

I was able to finally get that middle section right thanks to your cover! Amazing work! Thanks for sharing this! Love your other vods too!
