How Gliscor Aged Perfectly.

- Pokemon Competitive Singles has seen the triumphant return of even more titans of the past, thanks to the all new DLC. Gliscor has been ranked in OU in every single Game it's available in. Now that it has returned to Gen 9, it has quickly become a very popular Defensive Utility Pokemon. With an excellent Ground/Flying type combination, one of the best abilities in the entire game, "Poison Heal", and a utility movepool that many fellow Gen 9 Ground types would love, Gliscor has proven its excellence once again.
Iron Mugulis and Iron Fellow know all about it.

Some will never figure out how to get Gliscor in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. But famous player Jim Cool is well aware of the Best Gliscor Moveset in Competitive, and even how to Gliscor Shiny Farm. Many aren't and never will be. That's just the unfortunate reality of the world.
Arceus exists.
The below text is very relevant to many people.
Game Freak just blew all other online game development schools out of the water with this incredible new 2022 release. You're gonna need to get a game design degree online, and FAST, if you want to make a better game than this. Not even the best strategy games android reddit could hold a candle to this breathtaking Next generation competitive Pokemon experience.
Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on RUclips. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

Get me involved I have gen3 sapphire and a ds 😂😂
There’s also my favorite gliscor set fling+acro it will just refuse to die while knocking things out or getting significant chip even against some resists
Hold on, what if we help Iron Fellow, and then convince him to help us. This could give us a Mon on the inside.
Interesting.
We don't negotiate with terrorists
This is a dangerous idea, but it may be worth considering...
That's what I'm saying!
@@sampattison3702unless you do then you do.
Didn't even mention Toxic Spikes. Which get absorbed by poison types... Which Earthquake is super effective against.
Sorry what does this mean?
@@damonke7674you can switch into toxic spikes with poison types to remove them, but since gliscor is a ground type with a strong earthquake, poison types don't want to switch into it, and so the toxic spikes stay up and poison more pokemon overall
@@thepurified8386 oh I'm stupid haha I thought it was gliscor switching in on spikes, thanks.
@damonke7674 I mean...... gliscor is a flying type so it's immune to enemy spikes as well until you Tera it.
@@zaclittlejohn2701 yeah, that's why I was confused.
Gliscor is selling 1 Gliscillion copies with the addition of excellent utility moves like Toxic Spikes
I love gliscor so much, I’m so happy that he’s legitimately viable and like that for so long
Yes my favorite ground type
It's always fun when a Pokemon looks awesome and has competitive viability.
Same
@@timmyreobed5043yup
Dragonite and (before gen 9) Weavile are some other good examples
Garchomp cries
Their DESIGN has aged perfectly, too. A bat combined with a scorpion and alien face-hugger is such a creative fusion, and something I’ve only ever really seen here in Pokémon!
I also appreciate it all being a big “haha scorpion fly” joke, even if it gives worrying context to what their stinger actually is.
What ? I legit have no idea.
@@hugomventuraThe Gold / Silver Beta version sprite artwork leak of Gligar makes its Facehugger homage much more obvious.
Gen 4 had some of the coolest designs
What an epic ground flying type Pokémon
No not THAT ground flying type
Leave me alone
The OG Ground/ Flying type. As a former kid who used Gligar in gen 2, Gliscor has a special place in my heart... Especially to smack Terrakion in BW2 OU
It's nice of you to mention the UU-ranked pokemon Landorus-Therian in this video. It needs all the help it can get.
I haven’t checked the stats but I’m pretty sure Great Tusk running Ice Spinner has skyrocketed since Gliscor returned. Showing its presence alone has changed the use of possibly the most important Pokémon of the generation.
which has nerfed great tusk from what I gather, since it NEEDS ice spinner to exist.
Loyal Three: We have an ability that can badly poison you on contact!
Kid named Leftovers Gliscor: 😈
One of my favorite pokemon of all time, and I was so happy when I learned it was so good competitively. I love that it's still good after all this time.
Same, I love Gliscor
Almost all Great Tusk I’ve encountered on the ladder have now been running Ice Spinner over CC or Knock Off, a move that it seldom used in the past. Goes to show how impactful Gliscor is to the gen 9 meta wear it’s forcing one of the top 2 mons to sacrifice one of its coveted utility or stab moves
It says a lot about a Pokémon when people are unironically running Trick Pecha on Gholdy
That’s hilarious 😂
The you're just gonna get mold on your cheese string in the form of poisoning and also get destroyed by eq
Bro what...
💀
@@jimtsap04Gholdengo cannot be poisoned, on account of being a steel type
That’s so janky😂Lmao
Thanks for explaining and illustrating how Gliscor aged perfectly.
You know you're old when Gliscor still feels new
Gliscor has almost my age lol
I want to meet the person at GF who decided to give Gliscor poison heal and give them the greatest hug they’ve ever received
A big hug and a punch in the face. Which one first? Dunno.
We all wanted him back and now that he is back, he is dominating.
Gliscor has been one of my favorite mons ever since Gen 5 and that absolutely insane SD Acrobatics Flying Gem Set 😩👌
REAL OGs remember how absolutely brazy that set went
Thumbnail is even funnier now that chomp dropped to UU
Imagine telling someone who doesn't know a single thing about Pokémon that a giant flying scorpion that isn't poison nor bug but ground that learns CRABhammer of all things is also one that manages to stay relevant in a meta filled with flying lions, dragons of various degrees, killer robots, killer dinosaurs, mushrooms, piles of coins, and many more. I love this thing
Thank you Jimothy Cool for explaining and illustrating how the very unique Pokemon Gliscor aged perfectly in the competitive singles formats over the years.
Zapdos: My Man.
Gengar: My Guy.
Zapdos: why are you here?!
Gliscor's reintroduction to current gen will probably haunt a good chunk of mons. Heatran, Sneasler, the newly introduced Trio, among others 🤐🤐
Bad news for Heatran
Heatran probably won't have to worry about Gliscor... considering they're no longer in the same tier- Heatran actually _fell_ to UU.
"Gly-gar" 🙂
"Gliss-score" 🤨
Gliscor being so efficent in Gen 9 OU is so cool, i wish he also had defog bit i Guess it's asking too much in this Gen ...
Imagine how defining gliscor would have been if he existed in ADV
I mean it'd be good obviously, however Toxic Orb didn't exist until Gen 4 so it wouldn't have a reliable way to poison itself. That, plus the lack of moves like U-Turn and Stealth Rock, would probably have left it wanting more in ADV
@@kadabraguy9846 UUBL garrented
@@kadabraguy9846it would still be amazing with sand immunuty spikes immunity, thunderbolt and earthquake immunity, great defenses solid attacj and moves like eq swords dance toxic knock off agility baton pass, plus the lower power level, if gliscor mananges to survive in gen 9 ou without roost and gligar manages to scrape a niche in gen 3 uu I can absolutely see gliscor succeeding in gen 3 ou
IIRC Gligar was good in UU, but without the tools they get in gen 4 they likely wouldn’t be able to handle OU whether its Gligar or Gliscor, no stealth rocks and Skarmory just completely blanks it, even if you remove skarm with Magneton(something which is really only worth doing for genuine threats like Snorlax and Metagross) it will struggle with stuff like bulky rest-talk Suicune, Starmie, ice beam Blissey, Swampert, etc.
ADV OU is extremely different to gen 4 OU and a Gliscor without stealth rock would struggle, only role it could really fill is rock resist on superman teams in the place of Flygon where it might have a decent niche for a team that prefers the different resistances/neutralities of flying/ground compared to ground/dragon. It isn’t a strictly better mon than Flygon though since Flygon isn’t weak to water, resists fire, and can run fire blast to threaten Skarms that would love to face Gliscor on superman teams(since superman teams just cannot afford to run Magneton without becoming horribly inconsistent)
@@kadabraguy9846Gliscor got poison heal in gen 5 as hidden ability, so he can still get poisoned but despite that I think he would still be good.
Okay cool video but why does Jimmy pronounce the "Gli" in "Gligar" and "Gliscor" differently? XD
Jimothy Cool: come for the Pokemon analysis, stay for the lore
Gliscor is great on gen 5 to check excadrill as it can reliably switch into iron head consistently compared to lando
You should make a video talking about the gen 3 "200 metagame" because I think it's one of the most overlooked things about competitive pokemon ever and apparently slaking was king there? I don't know much about it. It would also be interesting to know more about those "half generations" such as diamond and pearl without platinum where hypnosis was 70% accuracy and scizor didn't have bullet punch or the "weather meta" of black and white 1 without the genies therian forms and without sheer force landorus, where all weather was legal and every team was sand rush, swift swim or clorophyl basically. Thanks, hope you'll consider these ideas!
I'm so happy that my Gliscor Garchomp team can be used again, it's been about 6 years too long without Gliscor
I've always loved gliscor, back in XY before I even knew of the competitive scene I grinded (ground?)so much for that hidden ability gliscor because I thought it was cool.
Imagine the joy when I found out they were good!
Gligar and Glissssscor. Dawg was cooking with this pronouncation
Love to see that my favorite pokemon kept himself relevant thru the power creep
Ah yes Glisgor, he's up there with Breloom, Starmie, Zapdos and Jirachi in my top 5 pokes of all time.
I don’t even play competitive and Gliscor has always been one of my top ten favorites
My favorite pokemon as a kid and still now. Never had I known he was a Competitive Menace until a few years ago
I mean the simple fact it still has Toxic is a buff in and of itself. With so many pokemon losing access to Toxic in gen 9, the move became far more valuable for the few that managed to keep it.
If you thought EIGHT Ground types was a lot, just wait for Gliscor to gain prominence in OU. I think Heatran is actually sweating now.
It required so many ground types to bring heatran down but, maybe its possible, maybe now
@@theshatteredseas4629 only possible way to bring heatran down is if either landarous or glisgor get flying stab. Like literally, terra grass will be quaking in its boots seeing that.
Gliscor did get dualwing beat
Metagame when ice types have 0 resistances.
Heatran has fallen from OU, alongside Garchomp (Garchomp would then immediately get banned from UU).
poison heal goes crazy
Can we agree we would hug a gliscor irl
Literally my favorite mon since i was a kid.
So happy to see it's been viable for so long
Jimothy, I think it would be very awesome if you did a collaboration interview with the amazing competitive Pokémon RUclips PokeaimMD. I also think that we should do something about Gliscor’s paradox relative, Meaty Claws which has the same utility moves as Gliscor with slightly more physical attack and bulk.
Gliscor is everything Landorus-T thinks he is
The fact that gliscor has now existed for longer than gligar by itself makes me feel a bit old
Bro that happened literally 10 years ago
Gliscor, The Chomp and Landorus: The Everlasting Ground Trio of Comp
Keep them away from that frozen water and you’re golden
@@cameronmyers5716 and also for the Chomp anything pink
So, if you do the setup correctly, Gliscor can recover 25% HP back with Toxic Heal, Lefties, and Grassy Terrian (which does require your Tera). I did use it along Glimmora, Terrian Extender Rillaboom, and Cinderace Court Change and pivot into Gliscor then start beating my opponent's head in.
Gliscor is unkillable and god tier.
"So how many sets can you run?"
"Yes"
Gliscor is my all time favorite Pokémon and this is exactly how I wanted her to age 😍

Here after seeing Heatran (a little while) and Garchomp drop to UU.
Gliscor really representing Sinnoh.
That thumbnail is ironic with gliscor pushing garchomp out of ou
Jim, I listen to you every morning when I drop off my son to preschool.
Thank you for adding value to my morning communte
Gliscor is actually as old as I am! We're just 7 months apart.
You either die a Spoink of live long enough to work with Old Money
i'm really invested in the lore following the requests to like and subscribe on each video. gonna have to keep up with these
This has some funny timing, Gliscor is being suspect tested for being banned from OU rn
Gliscor has got to be one of the most fun Pokemon to battle with
1:23 the garg is back !!!
Ribombee is a great web setter and OHKOs Great Tusk with moonblast, could you cover this?
Wouldnt expect anything less from my favorite pokemon of all time
I always thought it was funny I ended up subbing because I recognized that viper mix outro 😂 good vid man
Gliscor now that it has toxic spikes is making the hexspam team archetype viable
Recover: gets nerfed
Gliscor with Protect: oh no, anyways
I love Jimothy Cool thumbnails. This one just has such a kind and friendly feeling
Gliscor is basically the new and improved skarmory now.
A spikes monster that Is also physically bulky, resistance and immunity laden and have reliable recovery.
Except with gliscor it doesn't even need to use a move to heal, fear status or crumple to even neutral special attacks from something that isn't a wallbreaker.
Lando-T at home never felt so good.
This is why Gliscor is my favorite of all time
Gliscor has been my favourite pokemon ever since i first laid eyes on him, it nice to finally see him get some recognition
Jimothy I would like your insight on how Iron Fellow would compete for a team slot over Iron Mugulous in the current meta. I would also like to ask how you think both of them would stack up against the future paradox form of Quilfish: Danger Sushi, once he is released in the DLC.
Gliscor is pronounced as Gliess-Core
glescore
Lmao, Glisskor. No hate on dude or anyone who pronounces it like that but it genuinely makes my skin crawl
Are we not gonna even talk about Gliscor getting access to Crabhammer, giving him a powerful STAB option upon terastalization into the Water type? This is, to be quite frank, an embarrassing oversight
offensive gliscor is not nearly as good as its defensive hazard stacking counterpart+knockoff, uturn and facade are generally better options in SD sets
Not to mention one of the best in general
So happy I decided to get Scarlett. As much as I love Gliscor I kinda wish Pokemon would make an attack that would change the current status an opposing pokemon has to a different status.
Gliscor came out 17 years ago!, I feel ancient now...
I wanna' experiment with Gliscor in doubles. Potentially running Life Orb over Toxic Orb and running a partner with Toxic (Like Grafaiai because of Prankster). The damage from Life Orb is offset by its healing. Maybe running tera-normal for Facade or tera-water for defensive uses. Tera-ground to power-up Earthquake and so on. I love how versatile it is in this gen.
I want to try glis with leftys lol
is gliscor the reason for covid
Yes.
Very likely
He was paid for by Big Pecha
I blame old money
We ate the toxic orb
Sevent... seventeen years? Holy fuck I'm getting old
I had an existential crisis when I realized DPP came out in 2006
This video is exactly what I needed to confirm the fact that Gliscor is my favourite Pokémon of all time. What a truly incredible boy and I'm glad it's back into gen 9. Praise Gliscor 🛐
The crazy thing about Poison Heal is that you can literally half its healing (to become Leftovers) and it’ll still be a great ability. Being immune to status and not caring about Knock Off is extremely strong
It's probably my favorite Pokemon because of its viability and one of my favorite designs. I prefer it's OG color scheme over it's shiny.
Not to mention Gliscor also looks super cool.
While I absolutely hate to fight this thing sometimes it’s design is so cool I still love him
you should make that part about Iron Fellow into a youtube short
Gliscor is respected because he can do offense but is an defensive mon in my brain
something interesting you didn’t mention is that defog was never used on gliscor in gen 6 because it was incompatible with poison heal. in gen 6, defog had to be learned in gen 4, and so was incompatible with all hidden abilities. it’s part of why there are no good defog users in oras ou. it wasn’t until gen 7 that defog was accessible with hidden abilities and defog gliscor became viable.
"Welcome Back"
>Gliscor used U-Turn
One of my favorite designs
Gliscor has aged perfectly as long as you don’t pay attention to that chunk of time in SM UU where Gliscor was there and its rise drove its replacement with Gligar.
I hope they'll buff Miltank and Jynx by introducing the Future Paradox item "Heavy-Duty Boobs".
One of the decent amount of Mons I actually like from Singles when I play and bring over to use in vgc (and usually do well with), love me some Gliscor
Gliscor losing Roost doesn’t hurt it near as much as it hurts Gligar. The poor poke now only has Rest
Poison Heal is probably the most broken ability of the game, just matched with Multiscale, Protean before nerf and Intrepid Sword also before nerf.
Dauntless blade?
@@yungmuney5903 Sorry, I mixed up both Zacian and Zamazenta's moves and confuse it with an ability.
I know it’s just simple math, but…
The idea of Gliscor being 17 years old is hurting me a lot…….
Time to start running Worry Seed.
I remember there being small Wars between Gliscor and Lando. Ice Fang vs HP Ice.
I need to catch up on this Jimothy Cool lore man
