Better lighting on the table would improve the video quality a lot. Maybe attach a led headlamp or something on the camera if you don't have a video light.
How much play should the shift levers have in them? I think that’s why I can’t get mine to go in any gears h/l or r. I can get them to shift into gear outside the bike but now I can’t after I installed it back in bike. I adjusted the linkages every way possible and still struggling with no luck. Could it just be the shift shafts or possibly the gear shifter assembly?
At the end of the video there were 2 (round washers) shims left on the table did you reinsert them later Video rebuild a 90's polaris 4x4 transmission in 10 minutes thanks for the help
Someone else just asked that. Its one of my older video's. I had to cut a part out because the dogs were barking and I had to rush the end of the video. I was new to the channel back then and didn't have a good camera like I do now. But yes! I put the shims in after. So 12 minutes. lol.
Great video! I just tore one of these down and am waiting on seals. My case was broke also but I don't know why. I have to ask, did you accidentally leave the two shims out that was left on the bench?
Hey Titaniummam, I'm working on a 97 Xpress. I got it cheap and got it running the same day. Now I'm tearing it down to frame and completely rebuilding it. I am into the transmission right now because it was making some noise. My question is..... how much slack (if any) should the silent chain have? Mine seems to have an awful lot! Lots of signs of rubbing on the inner casing too. Gears and bearing look good though.... Thanks
I would replace it. It is hard to tell with the sides split apart. Only because the other case half spreads out the chain when installed. there should be a little play in it, but not a whole lot.
Did the chain break and crack the case? I'm dealing with the same issue. Can't find that the left case cover . Did you buy another used transmission and assembly a good one out of the parts?
Awesome. I'm sure i could do it going in blind. But now i see its more simple than you'd think. Thanks for the video man!
Thanks for that. I will be changing out the side cover for the same reason.

Yes. They are known for that happening. I have a friend in Milwaukee that parts them out. I just bought the case side from him.
Just wanted to ask you what type of should I use in the transmission because I can't find Polaris oil
synthetic ATF

How do I know if my silent chain is too loose?
you might hear a clunk at take off or possible chain slop. Sometimes its hard to tell until you get it apart.
@@TitaniummanGarage I got it apart and looks pretty loose.
@@markj811 I'd replace it.
