If bc racing are the affordable coils then I’m a lot more broke than I thought lmfao
yeah BC are the non affordable ones.
Truhart is $600 they're good!!
$1k for a set of coils is definitely on the low end of price and quality.
@@QuesoDipp eh I’d say mid grade, there are coils for $200 and usable ones for $600, $1000 IMO Is a good middle ground
You may or may not be broke, we can’t tell; but your standards are definitely pretty average-low
I love how that pull away from the petrol (gas) station put a smile on your face, I know the feeling every time I do that in my 330i
The bloopers at the end were cool, you should do it more often by adding them in Justin.
Great video! I know it helped answer a lot of questions!
Very real and humble dude. Big thumbs up. Not pretentious and spendthrift like all the other you tubers
I bought BC Racing V1-VA. I nave the dampening set to half I installed them on my 2000 MK7 Celica ZR. I find them enjoyable to drive on. My stock shocks were blown on the front so I these are a lot better. I paid $1400 AUD. Installed them myself after watching you tube install videos… very happy now. Also did the wheel alignment. It took me 11 hours to install.
You will need a breaker bar socket set, torque wrench and trolley Jack.
Thanks for the honest, unbiased review, Justin! I’ve wondered about these myself and whether they’re a good investment. While not super expensive, $1k for any mod is worth weighing the pros and cons.
As a mechanic that specializes in lowering peoples suspension i always found it strange how people didn’t understand how lowering and stiffening the suspension made the ride harsher lol. You will hear noises that you’ve never heard you car make, the ride will ALWAYS be harsher.
Exactly. If you want your car to ride like stock, keep it stock lol
Honest info on the coilovers, like the ending with the bloopers!👍😁
8:13 I totally understand, and my car is still at stock height 🤧
So refreshing to see bloggers in Michigan! Don’t know where u are but pot holes are a nightmare near Lake Orion and Clarkston MI lol
Frank Schenk I grew up in Macomb, now I live near Port Huron 🧤
I love your videos! I also live in Mi. and i'm thinking pretty close to you! Northville.... I also make those faces and know exactly which roads to take and where all the major bumps and holes are. I have been told my car seems lower then stock but I never really thought to check if it was lowered before i bought it. I will now!
yo, thanks for this vids. Your whip looks clean at that ride height. Il probably steer cleer from these. I can definitely hear how hard your ride hits those bumps it sounds like my worned out stock suspension.
I'm 35 with a young family. I'm happy with the semi firm ride with my legacy GT. Don't think I'll ever go back to aftermarket springs... At best thicker rear sway bar plus good tyres
Hahaaaa is that a dog hammock I see in the back? Made me smile, as yesterday I cleaned my e90 out, rubbed all the leather down, looked spotless. Then installed the hammock, then the dog 🐕🤪 I just carry a hand held vacuum cleaner with me everything now. Lee 🇬🇧
Great vid. I have compared these with d2 same level and i must say bc is a bit better designed especially perches. Bcs r a lot stronger and durable. Unfortunatelly after a while i had problems adjusting height due to thread being damaged inside maybe becsuse out of spec tighteness of a pinch bolt.
Hi Justin,
I really like your informative videos, could I use a set of bilstein shocks with H&R springs as an alternative to coilovers on my 2005 BMW e90 330i as the UK roads are to harsh for coilovers. Thanks again Justin for your uploads keep them coming all really good to watch, nice one.
The suspension that I would love to own is magnetic ones. I think they are smoother than mechanical ones like this but I don’t know if they come with lowering options or if they are any magnetic ones aftermarket. It would be very expensive too I would imagine. Really surprised those Bilesteins rusted so much!
Looks sharp. Fortunately, in western Colorado, we don' t get that much snow/salt, etc., so the underside of my vehicles is not that bad. Good to see you alive and well! Wash your hands...
edgy1rocks thanks! Salt is the death of vehicles here. It’s rare to see something older than 2000
Has body roll decreased? Handling tighter?
Did you get an alignment?
All you seem to discuss is looking low while I’m here looking to see if these perform well
Awesome reveiw man! Have you thought about doing any other suspension mods, like m3 control arms? And this lockdown sucks.
I squeeze my ass checks together when I’m about to hit a bumper or pothole I can’t avoid. Your cars too stiff imo
I squeeze my ass cheeks together and lift myself up off the seat using my legs as if to make myself lighter.
That's why the "Be Patient, im low" sticker helps😂
I think not having the run flats also helps. If you have the run flats with those coil overs the ride would be much stiffer or more uncomfortable, maybe? Just thinking. Thanks for the great video I look forward to more.
even these would take a lot of savings lmfao any coil thats in that 800-1200 is super high quality for me
You can try raceland coilydont have compression and rebound adjustments but they do offer affordable coilovers that are decent
Elijahua Dunbar i ended up buying some barely used stance coils for 700, retailed for 1350 so i guess buying lightly used is the way to go
@@devon5078 where can u buy lightly used for bmw 328xi 2007
@@jeriahgarrett2144 just check around facebook marketplace, offerup, craigslist i just waited until something popped up
@@jeriahgarrett2144 make sure you be rebuild able if u get used
Perfect timing on this video man. I really needed this.
J. Sharp 🙏🏻 glad I could help!
I'm getting awesome mileage where I'm not even taking the highways where I'm at.
Legacy GT driver
Refreshing to see you on these. First saw your h and r spring review. While I don't intend to lower my wagon it's still fun watching your videos
Love your car bro! Just needs aftermarket headlights and it's be 💯
Great informative video...i was waiting for this one because I'm in the process of buying a set of coilovers too. Thanks 😊
Voice of Dip glad I could help!
I saw you have 12k springs, it appears raising it a bit more and going with 10K would be a smarter move .Plus you need a compliant suspension to have a car handle correctly. Pro autocrossers have learned an overly stiff car is slower, the tire needs to follow the road.
I’m debating coilovers on the S5 right now... Solid informative video, man. I’ll look at these for my setup
KevG do it!
I need to get some coil overs for my mustang one day. Just rocking some lowering springs so far
Bro do you know why my cruise control light won’t go away after removing key abs problem ? Also I removed the internal siren it won’t turn off stil have a buzzing noise inside the center of dash keys not in have to disconnect battery to stop car from dying
Hi Justin .. have you ever heard that the engine for bmw 535 xi 2011 get Danegeld after 120k .. by failures for oil pump?
I have a set of cosmis and there 18x9.5 and tire size is 235/40/18 with a half inch spacer. Do you think The extreme low is a good call or the normal ones?
Great review! Also love the bloopers at the end.
Kevin K thanks! 😂
i think it does make it less bad if you hold closer to the wheel when you drive over tracks, because your spine takes less shock
Hi there, not related but may i ask if i want to upgrade to 18 alloy wheel, there are 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 and which tyres are best for daily drive, appriciated if can give me a answer, thank you !!
hello, nice what did you do and not only that in the car❤️ but what are these rims and what specifications do they have? Thank you
I just installed these today.. and out the box my 330xi had a nice drop without adjusting anything. I only adjusting the dampening
In UK there are 2 major problems with driving lowered cars , First it is impossible to find a inner city road without a speed hump which sometimes are so high even standard height cars will scrape and when you do find a road without speed hump you are bound to find a pothole the size of a mini grave.
When we go to our big city (Detroit) we take our Dodge Avenger. The roads are terrible and some of the parking lots are really sketchy
Hello Justin, where is the video on when you are installing the BC coilovers with your friend? I can't find it 😫 😕 😩 😪 😢 😭
Do you have the link for the spacers and the longer lug nuts you got for your Bimmer?
Justin,
good luck driving like that on Portuguese roads with a parallel going out and scraping everything underneath if you are unlucky enough to break the bumper. hehe
That's my country! Peace ✌😜
Any idea what the tire gap from the fender is like when they’re as high as they can go?
Like of this guy is the goat
Shimon Jaeger 🐐
@Sifu Pai Mei lmao agreed
Hahaa gotta love the bloopers! I do the same thing bro 😂
Justin, how do you compare this coil-overs with your previous Bilsteins ?
9.5 square +35. 255/40/18 -2.2 camber BC BR. No issues. But also in the PNW. The roads are way better than the Midwest
Just came across your channel. Great videos! I also subscribed to your channel. Thank you!
do you have the swift spring upgrade and is it worth it for 300? just looking to lower my car atm for look and a bit more handling nothing crazy
I noticed some people get their BC coilovers with the springs attached, and some non-attached. Why is that?
I usually clench but buttcheeks together when I pass train tracks 😂 thanks for your honest review on these $1k is a lot of money to dump into a car to lower it but you are right the ride quality is always going to change the lower you go
Does it rub at the join in the rear fender and quarter? What to do? Cant roll that...
How does it compare to your bilstein and lowering spring setup?
saved me from wasting my stimulus on a set lol thx, think I'll settle w bilstein/eibach kit instead
Can you adjust the rear damper? Or is it only the Front?
I just got bc coilovers for my Lexus es300 and I love then they feel great yea you feel bumps but I mean there coilovers
Any aftermarket lowering spring or coilover will stiffen your suspension regardless
i bought the regular height BCs literally a day before seeing your video. they're maxed out but still not low enough :(
Facts. I rely on my car too much to even do major mods to ruin the drivability of the car and have it break down sooner than later. If someone has a project car then GO ALL OUT but your DD should be your most reliable car
I have 20’s on my e90 sedan and dropping only about 1” 1/2 will they still be rough on the ride ?
Interested in wheel specs.
Noticed you didn't have offset, could you add that or reply with that info
Haha loved the intro!!! Btw, how do these compare to the H&R and Bilstein B8 you had before?
They are stiffer than my previous suspension. I'd say the ride quality of H&R and Bilstein's felt closer to the stock suspension
I heard swift springs are a little better, not sure how if its the same rate but idk
How does the BCs compare to the Bilstein B8 with lowering springs?
Would have liked to see vehicle handling on open curves out of city..
What happened to the blacked out window trim?
i can imagine how smooth driving is after getting this, they also cost 950e so i guess its worth
Love the looks of it, Btw how do these compare with Bilstein B8+H&R interms of steering feels & cornering ?
Im on Bilstein B8+H&R and thinking of geting the the same. Thanks
I'm thinking of going with Bilstein B8 and H&R, how are they in terms of potholes and bumps (low speed and high speed)?
Hope you adjusted everything correctly from the spring preload to dampening hopefully you didnt get 8k coils
Coilovers are great until you get the car owners that preach static life... Then its not so great... (Just my 2 cents 🤣) great video bro... Also hearing that first gear pull, have you ever thought about deleting the cat and leaving the rest of the exhaust system as normal?
I feel that face you made goin over those train tracks every time I see a bump I can't get around I cringe so much
did you have to pay extra for the swift springs?
when you think to change the exhaust?
reminds us of the spring rates for the front and rears?
Intro was hilarious 😂
ayske1 🤣
Loved this! ♥
Love the bloopers!!!
enjoyed the video & great info!
6:56 every single time I driver over these tracks in my town😂😂 I make the same face and everything
You can remove your bumb stops for a softer ride and the tends to go lower when you remove your bumb stops
This is what I did to my Porsche. Made a world of a difference
Bump stops are usually there to soften the blow from the strut if it ever bottoms out. There's actually a full video that goes into the details of how bump stops are engineered for specific feel.
Are your camber plates maxed out?
Where you at in Michigan? I'm near Traverse City.
Can u help me bmw 7 series 1994 745ia newzealand bound it’s 3 am can’t fix it
@justinbuice Personally prefer the FK Automotive AK Street Coilovers. Should've had a look at these as well before going for BC's. I have them on my '07 VW MK5 GTI and they are fantastic with my 19's, if not better than OEM. Good bang for your buck and you can go super low, you might need to either roll the front fenders a little or switch out to smaller width tyre - so from 225/35/19 to 215/35/19 is what I went with. PS: potholes are a bitch! 😅
So do these come with camber plates
I like the way it looks and the wheels too!!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
54 frame thank you!
What is the name and brand of those wheels?
😂🤣😂 this episode was great.. had me dying 😅🤜🤛
Ordered mine for my sti mid October and still haven’t came
6:43 i do that all the time and my dad is pissed of me a lot :)
will this fit on a bmw 328xi 2007
Great video, very informative, hopefully I can get my e90 lowered soon
AlexAutomotive glad I could help!
Go for Bags next year Justin !!!’ Haha and some 19x11 with -5 offset . Clean ....
AJ Madera one day! 😎
AJ Madera that’s going to be the final form of this car. Air suspension and some deep dish Work Meister’s
What about the headlights restoration kit? Are the headlights ok after a while? I'm wondering about UV protection. Nice car, great content! 💪
George Stoica thanks! They still look great! Now that I park in a garage the car has less exposure to UV. My lights were at a point where anything I did would have made them look better
Cover them with 3M paint protection film and they will stay like new.
I do tend to pucker up when I know there’s a big bump coming lol
Going to lower my E87 soon and I'm running 19 inch wheels with skinny tires.
Then you must be 100% focused on the road and nothing else 😅
I just fit mine but front it’s knocking:( they are brand new
What wheel are those? They’re 🔥
I wish I can do this to my forte gt butt the dealer will void my warranty
