I bought BC Racing V1-VA. I nave the dampening set to half I installed them on my 2000 MK7 Celica ZR. I find them enjoyable to drive on. My stock shocks were blown on the front so I these are a lot better. I paid $1400 AUD. Installed them myself after watching you tube install videos… very happy now. Also did the wheel alignment. It took me 11 hours to install. You will need a breaker bar socket set, torque wrench and trolley Jack.
As a mechanic that specializes in lowering peoples suspension i always found it strange how people didn’t understand how lowering and stiffening the suspension made the ride harsher lol. You will hear noises that you’ve never heard you car make, the ride will ALWAYS be harsher.
Thanks for the honest, unbiased review, Justin! I’ve wondered about these myself and whether they’re a good investment. While not super expensive, $1k for any mod is worth weighing the pros and cons.
Has body roll decreased? Handling tighter? Did you get an alignment? All you seem to discuss is looking low while I’m here looking to see if these perform well
I love how that pull away from the petrol (gas) station put a smile on your face, I know the feeling every time I do that in my 330i The bloopers at the end were cool, you should do it more often by adding them in Justin.
In UK there are 2 major problems with driving lowered cars , First it is impossible to find a inner city road without a speed hump which sometimes are so high even standard height cars will scrape and when you do find a road without speed hump you are bound to find a pothole the size of a mini grave.
I saw you have 12k springs, it appears raising it a bit more and going with 10K would be a smarter move .Plus you need a compliant suspension to have a car handle correctly. Pro autocrossers have learned an overly stiff car is slower, the tire needs to follow the road.
Looks sharp. Fortunately, in western Colorado, we don' t get that much snow/salt, etc., so the underside of my vehicles is not that bad. Good to see you alive and well! Wash your hands...
Facts. I rely on my car too much to even do major mods to ruin the drivability of the car and have it break down sooner than later. If someone has a project car then GO ALL OUT but your DD should be your most reliable car
I'm 35 with a young family. I'm happy with the semi firm ride with my legacy GT. Don't think I'll ever go back to aftermarket springs... At best thicker rear sway bar plus good tyres
Bump stops are usually there to soften the blow from the strut if it ever bottoms out. There's actually a full video that goes into the details of how bump stops are engineered for specific feel.
The suspension that I would love to own is magnetic ones. I think they are smoother than mechanical ones like this but I don’t know if they come with lowering options or if they are any magnetic ones aftermarket. It would be very expensive too I would imagine. Really surprised those Bilesteins rusted so much!
Hahaaaa is that a dog hammock I see in the back? Made me smile, as yesterday I cleaned my e90 out, rubbed all the leather down, looked spotless. Then installed the hammock, then the dog 🐕🤪 I just carry a hand held vacuum cleaner with me everything now. Lee 🇬🇧
I would raise it up some and soften the dampers a bit to make it smoother on those bumps. I know real low looks cool but its a street car, so tune the suspension to ride better. If you go to a track then you can slam it and go stiff for more control.
Really wouldn’t do anything for him since raising or lowering the suspension does nothing for shock travel on this design. The extreme lows reduce shock stroke so even if you raise the car it’s only moving the entire shock body up or down and does nothing to address the reduction in travel. There is zero reason to go extreme low aside for the slammed look. Comfort is ruined and performance is ruined, you need travel for performance otherwise you’ll just hit the bump stop in a high g turn and overload the tire and slide out. This is pretty much the worst way to go super low and you’d be better off with something like the hydraulic top perches that you can extend to raise the vehicle while driving (which will actually raise the stroke) and then lower down when parked for a show etc…
Not sure why folks seem to view lowered suspension videos, then post negative comments regarding the ride height and ride quality of lowered suspensions, when the whole purpose of aftermarket coilover suspension is to lower the ride height and tune the suspension for acceptable ride quality and performance for the vehicle owner. If you don't like aftermarket suspension and would not do it on your car, cool, don't do it. If the vehicle owner wanted or needed a factory look or ride, then they would not have installed aftermarket coilovers in the first place. For those of us who enjoy the look and performance of aftermarket lowered/coilover suspensions, we understand that we will no longer have a factory ride quality and are ok with that. If Justin wanted a factory look and ride quality on his BMW, then he would not have installed the coilover suspension in the first place. Please stop telling us that our ride quality will not be factory anymore after installing aftermarket suspension, we know this! Thank you. @@jessehill3780
I think not having the run flats also helps. If you have the run flats with those coil overs the ride would be much stiffer or more uncomfortable, maybe? Just thinking. Thanks for the great video I look forward to more.
I love your videos! I also live in Mi. and i'm thinking pretty close to you! Northville.... I also make those faces and know exactly which roads to take and where all the major bumps and holes are. I have been told my car seems lower then stock but I never really thought to check if it was lowered before i bought it. I will now!
yo, thanks for this vids. Your whip looks clean at that ride height. Il probably steer cleer from these. I can definitely hear how hard your ride hits those bumps it sounds like my worned out stock suspension.
I usually clench but buttcheeks together when I pass train tracks 😂 thanks for your honest review on these $1k is a lot of money to dump into a car to lower it but you are right the ride quality is always going to change the lower you go
If you want 1 finger wheel gap you seriously will be looking at 30kgf/mm+ springs or better yet 3kgf main spring and 8000lb/in bump springs. The ride will be very harsh. 😊
Me too! But i think the rear end could be lowered a bit more. The h&r springs are 35mm lower in the front and 20mm in the back which is fine but i think the rear should be maybe 10mm lower?
Love the looks of it, Btw how do these compare with Bilstein B8+H&R interms of steering feels & cornering ? Im on Bilstein B8+H&R and thinking of geting the the same. Thanks
Yes I do, you also have to breath in and hold it, clench your butt, bite down on you jaw, try to stand up (to make the car lighter) then curse out loud and make pain noises. Please note all this is done before the rear wheel hit the pot hole!
Great vid. I have compared these with d2 same level and i must say bc is a bit better designed especially perches. Bcs r a lot stronger and durable. Unfortunatelly after a while i had problems adjusting height due to thread being damaged inside maybe becsuse out of spec tighteness of a pinch bolt.
Coilovers are great until you get the car owners that preach static life... Then its not so great... (Just my 2 cents 🤣) great video bro... Also hearing that first gear pull, have you ever thought about deleting the cat and leaving the rest of the exhaust system as normal?
Hi Justin, I really like your informative videos, could I use a set of bilstein shocks with H&R springs as an alternative to coilovers on my 2005 BMW e90 330i as the UK roads are to harsh for coilovers. Thanks again Justin for your uploads keep them coming all really good to watch, nice one.

George Stoica thanks! They still look great! Now that I park in a garage the car has less exposure to UV. My lights were at a point where anything I did would have made them look better

If bc racing are the affordable coils then I’m a lot more broke than I thought lmfao
yeah BC are the non affordable ones.
Truhart is $600 they're good!!
$1k for a set of coils is definitely on the low end of price and quality.
@@QuesoDipp eh I’d say mid grade, there are coils for $200 and usable ones for $600, $1000 IMO Is a good middle ground

When we go to our big city (Detroit) we take our Dodge Avenger. The roads are terrible and some of the parking lots are really sketchy
even these would take a lot of savings lmfao any coil thats in that 800-1200 is super high quality for me
You can try raceland coilydont have compression and rebound adjustments but they do offer affordable coilovers that are decent
