- This is part five of a muti-part series stemming from a recent trip to Florence Italy along with 10 other artists.- We traveled to the Hill town of San Gimignano for a day of painting watercolor in the open air. The subject in this work the valley below San Gimignano and rendering the rolling hills and farmlands with expressive brush stroke in watercolor. I demonstrate different ways to think about using the watercolor brush, and the philosophy or mind set behind these marks.

For me this is the most challenging scene of all, i like your way of layering colors, capturing the scene to perfection. Awesome!
Thank you, reminding me of the core features of watercolors. When you feel a little lost, kind of a sudden barrier, this tutorial bringing me back.
I attended my best friend's lovely wedding some years ago in San Gimignano region and it is an absolutely beautiful region in Italy. Great video as always, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this video, Mr. Gary Tucker. Very helpful, indeed!
You are a MASTER.... so great. People know how to paint, they Make painting look easy . Infect, there are so many years of experience and knowledge behind every stroke. Love it. 👍
What a great depth of
"Green echoes"....!

As an American Italian I'm loving this scene although I've never traveled there I so appreciate your painting of this beautiful scene. I've just subscribed to your channel. I'm a longtime watercolor painter. And still learning . Thank you for sharing this.
One of the best tutorials on watercolor subject . Thank you :) so meaningful and useful details
The variety of “greens” you have created is incredible! I liked your comment about stopping earlier and trying some later additions in your minds eye! Unfortunately I don’t seem to have an easily accessible eye in my mind!
Your explanation always make LOT of sense. What a wonderful lesson. And such a happy time.
Very enjoyable as always and inspiring. I'm amazed that your ‘sketching ' is done with a brush. Thank you.
Thanks for the great video, Mr. Tucker!
This is great impressionist work. Wonderful technique and brush work.
Great teaching, grateful to have the opportunity to listen to yours tutorials, your generosity is very appreciate, thanks you so much.
Every time I look at your painting... everytime I am amazed by it. . You really is a ARTIST... I admire your work.
Love your technique. Great tips. You are a wonderful artist.
Lovely capture of Italian landscape. Bravo!
Wow this is gorgeous, love Tuscany! I also like starting the painting without a sketch with oils and pastels but haven't tried that with watercolor. I will definetely have to try, you got some amazing effects and incredible looseness, which I find harder to achieve with watercolors than other mediums.
Thanks for all the videos - really enjoying them
You are one of two of the best watercolor teachers I've seen on RUclips. Hope one day to attend one of your workshops.
facinating to see it develop !
Thank you, I've been learning o lot from your videos, precious information condensed in a 15min class. Thank you again
Terrific painting and great tips. Thanks for posting
You have changed the way I paint this amazes me your skill and craftsmanship it makes me a different artist
So far I have watched two of your videos and am finding your process amazing, I really need to try not to draw first but just put paint to paper. This is something I am planning to do sooner rather than later, maybe then I can produce something a bit less structured. 👏👏
Been there in San Gimignano, a lovely Tuscan town! We went to see the 13 famous towers ( Tuscan's Medieval NYC), however, you were painting from the hillside, which from a different perspective and angles. Interesting! Brought back many memories. The painting looked very nice, loved! Learning many new techniques from your video also. Thanks! 😌🙌💕
You are so talented.
Excellent painting
Beautiful video, Mr Tucker.
Hi, I really enjoyed this one! Not only is your painting exceptional, but the content of your dialogue and use of the language is also exceptional. Thank you. Tim Goodman, Geneva, NY
Timothy - Thank you for sharing that with me - I put a lot of thought into the dialogue and the description of the thought process - I am pleased it is being understood.:)
