  • This is part four of a muti-part series stemming from a recent trip to Florence Italy along with 10 other artists.- Firenze from San Miniato al Monte . Considered on of the finest views of Firenze the basilica is reached by a narrow road that leads the travel up a steep walk to the from courtyard of the church. Turn around and you have a breath taking view of Firenze. In this demo I talk about finding the large shapes for a focal area, rendering the rooftops as patterns made by brush strokes, and creative ways to use the foreground and background to your advantage.

I love your paintings and your teaching. It is very refreshing for an artist to explain the steps of a painting. Thank you for sharing so much without expecting payment. I have painted for 30 years, but am learning a lot from you. Beautiful!

Your work is amazing, and your videos are incredibly useful. Thank you.
Not that I would actually WISH this on you, but I'm shocked you don't have at least 10x the subs / views.

Fabulous! I love how you simplified the many buildings and rooflines. Great inspiration.

Another great video 👍 Please, what was the name of the white that you used on the ribs of the Duomo? It sounded like, "Jean Brilliante?"

Great tutorial, as always. Question: why did you neglect the Baptistry which is a major part of the Duomo complex.

Another great painting. Please post one that is not speeded up. It's easier to learn for people like me just starting out.

??? Beautiful painting! I am very new to watercolor and am wondering what this style of painting is considered to be.... is this style called impressionist? Or something different? I love this style and want to see more and am trying to narrow my searches. Thanks to anyone that may be able to help!

There is no strict way to paint in any kind of art. If someone don't understand, they can just walk away and no one will complain. This is pretty impressive and a very good way to portrait a city.
