Can we just appreciate how well this little robot is designed? A lot of the time for "functional" robots like this the uncanny valley isn't taken into account that well, but this robot is so adorable and nice looking.
don't forget about that tiny bicycle! looks like cnc cut aluminum and every piece is attached with a tiny bolt so it's fully re buildable and you could make new pieces for it. lots of thought went into everything seen here i am sure! plus its polished to a mirror finish those wheels look invisible lol edit: nvm the wheels really are invisible lol but the rest is polished
This is amazing, I took a robotics course at a community college and we built a robot car using Python, it was so difficult to have my car not avoid some simple objects and then there is this robot riding around on a bicycle, long way of saying I am highly impressed 😳
I really doubt that he did that on its own. The direction, e.g. the path in which it was riding, and probably those fun actions to, were RC controlled. Starting, stopping and pedaling was autonomous, which is an achievement in itself.
That's quite racist actually. Implying the Japanese have higher intellectual capacity than others. How far off is that from Hitler saying those blacks sure can run good. Guess their better at physical stuff. Makes sense, white man brains, black man muscle. And I am joking of course but kinda not.

Back in 1983, Graupner had an rc bicycle, It was a test model for their stabilizing system. Admitted, this Bike Riding Robot is way more advanced though.
Not many are interested in self driving cars except for taxi companies, ambulance companies, and United States of America. The rest of the world does not want to be tracked and controlled that much. I really do not get why so many Americans are so compliant and do not care about having their government have that much control over them. I know I will never have an automobile where I can be tracked and the control be taken away from me.
Now it's 2021. The robot can control balance, fly and perform the tasks assigned by humans. I think it will become the era of robot industry. Large enterprises will use robots to replace assembly line workers, and small enterprises will still use cheap labor workers.
As a biologist I agree, evolution is indeed a mind-blowingly incredible process and biological machines, even simple microbes and viruses, are awe-inspiring in the way they function.
@@ekjas_siket Evolution works based on DNA mutations leading to the expression of proteins that are beneficial for survival and procreation, which become enriched in a population via natural selection. I suggest reading a high-quality biology textbook (e.g. Campbell Biology) if you want to know the detailed mechanism behind it. As said, needles are a by-product of evolution. Evolution cannot directly create needles however, since the protein machinery required for that would be unnecessarily complex. A textbook on chemistry (e.g. Nivaldo's Fundamentals of Chemistry) should give you a decent idea of why metals are generally not synthesizable by biological systems.
Instead of restoring the tilt of the bicycle to an upright state by general feedback control, it seems to restore the tilt by cutting the handle in the direction in which the bicycle is tilted, to prevent falling, such as a handle operation normally performed by humans. It seems that clever cycling is realized!
In the 20th century Japanese company started to make robots that could prevent and help the world, instead of just making anime cartoons to kids to watch all around the world. They have genius bastards...

I thought this was new, like 2019 new. Then realized it's an old video from 2011. What's with all these old RUclips recommendations randomly popping up after years? I don't mind older videos about science, history or animals. But technology, it gets dated pretty quick. RUclips gotta work on refining the context of these recommendations else it ends up being underwhelming
That little robot has evolved immensely since this video. It completed the Tour de France last year.
