"Because this thing is totally fit for combat..." Use your imagination... The side panels would essentially be made of movable tank armor offering the ultimate protection, and there would be a weapon system that would stick out when needed and be hidden when not. It could come in different sizes, have different weapon systems and payloads, some could be used as suicide or kamikaze balls. Also, if I was paranoid, I'd be like "I hope they don't turn this into a killing machine" I'm just the opposite.
The robot it's nice. You can mmake a personal friend. When you walk normal he do the same.When you're hurry he is rolling.

Every year I see more and more videos like these with tiny advancements in robotics and they seem harmless but it's gonna be like a snowball effect.
I'll look back on these days as I'm fighting Skynet under a mushroom cloud.
No, because Skynet in reality wouldn't be dumb enough to deploy something as obtuse as nukes. :P It'd just grey goo us all.
Kevin Jones Not only that, but if one of those nukes detonated in the upper atmosphere, it could cause an EMP. That would have to be a very dumb AI.

I first thought of rescue operation and surveillance.
Actually, I'm thinking if it talked like the turrets from Portal it'd be perfect and I'd gladly sell my kidney to buy one.
This is my favorite robot. I want to see it in a movie where they are launched in as spheres and then walk around. It would also make such an expressive puppet.
Now make larger versions of these, armour it up and begin mass production of giant rolling robots to crash through buildings.
make a large version, armor it, and attatch a gun to the top.
Why not just make it like the turrets from Portal?

THAT IS AMAZING. It's amazingly well done too and you've done almost every little detail. Loving the ball function.
This pretty darn amazing! If they could scale the tech up so that it could contain a human passenger/operator within a gyroscopically-stabilised cockpit, it could prove to be an excellent all-terrain solution. I could even see potential here for each individual leg to incorporate an inflatable ballute system to allow it to tread water.

This is really impressive. Unfortunately, I could definitely see the military applications, so I hope you are an anti-war kinda person. On the more noble side, this would be a PERFECT platform for a planetary exploration lander, especially if you incorporated shock absorbers into it in such a way that it could basically be dropped from altitude without doing any harm to the internals. I hope NASA sees this, and if not, you should definitely get a hold of them. Nice work!

Breg Peschanyj The day when batteries can store big loads in minimal spaces, and the day after that; when robots are energy efficient enough to rely solely on sun and no human interference for maintenance, that day we're gonna have a lot of piew piew and chuw chuw and dadatatatdadatata ta! yet, I dont think we're gonna love that movie as we would be in it getting chew chw'ed and piew piew'ed.
So, the first thing you would want to do with this is weaponize it... not use it to solve a problem...
But that would violate the laws of robotics
