    2011 Mazda 2. Seven years ago my daughter lost the key and we had to use the spare. I found it a year later down the back of the couch. The buttons no longer worked. FOR SIX YEARS I have been manually locking and unlocking the car. SIX YEARS! I have no idea why this video came up in my feed at 1am as I was going to bed. But I just tried it and it works!!! Thank you!!!!

    Thank you so much! This totally solved my problem where both my remotes stopped working! The people I talked to all said I should change the battery. After paying $5 to change one, nothing happened so I found your video when I googled the problem, did the steps at the same time as you, and it worked!!

    Thanks for this video; it worked and now my wife loves me again! I tried a few times and the last time I skipped the 'lock and unlock door' step and went to the 'press the unlock on the remote twice' and it reprogrammed that time.

    If anyone is having trouble getting their Mazda 3 into programming mode like I was at first, I discovered that, at least for my car, I had to additionally manually press lock/unlock on the driver's side door at the beginning after you open the door but before the key cycling. Every thing else as explained in this video worked great. Thanks!

      My car wouldn't go into programming mode. I had to push my key inwards and hold it inwards the whole time to make sure it knew my key was in the ignition. After I did that it worked flawlessly. I've been trying to figure this out for years.

    That is correct. The "switchblade" key is only available for 2010 on the Mazda 3 model. The 2004 Mazda 3 has a separate key and remote as shown on our website; however, the programming procedure is the same for the remote whether it is separate or switchblade.

    A little tip if you have a key release button, you don't have to turn the key to the release position each time. Just turning the key from run to the acc position worked for me. I had some issues at first trying to turn it to the release position until I tried it without pushing the key release each time. Just thought I would share in case anyone else was having this problem.

    This worked. For my 2012 Mazda. Had 1 working Key and purchased 2 off-brand keys. Went through these steps and now they all lock/unlock the door. Now have to get the 2 keys cut. I am unclear whether there is a chip that also needs programming in order to start the ignition. Just one note. Be sure to do the working key. My first attempt I managed to program the 2 new keys and unprogram the original key. On the second attempt I pressed the unlock button on all 3 keys and that did the trick. Good luck.

    • @carandtruckremotes
      @carandtruckremotes  8 лет назад

Once I replaced the battery I had to go through the procedure noted in the video to get the keyfob synched to the car again. It's been a LONG while since I needed a key/keyfob for a vehicle. Last one was for a Ford more than 10 years ago. I did have to get that done at the dealer and it cost about $75, but I'm sure prices have changed since then.

    I have a 2012 Mazda 2. I am being told on a Mazda forum that I can buy the remote from yourselves and a blank key from ebay, get the key cut by a locksmith and then program using this method and it will all work. But youve said below that I will need to get Mazda to program the key to start the engine. Little confused now

    • @carandtruckremotes
      @carandtruckremotes  9 лет назад

      James Baldwin That is correct... there is a transponder chip in the key that must be programmed by a dealer or locksmith in order for the key to work to start the car and keep the ignition engaged. The remote can be programmed yourself at home with a working/programmed key.

    you have to be watching the video very closely after the 3 off-on cycles you leave the KEY in the ignition and then close the already opened door 3 more times. Then the computer will give you a 60 second window to press the unlock button of each fob ONCE, for a Maximum of 2 remotes. Do not press unlock twice on each remote!!! as that will overwrite the 2nd slot on your 1st fob.

    quick tip. You saw that original stopped working. What happened is that he didn't also double tap it's 'unlock' button quickly after doing the 2nd fob. I did the same mistake too. I had to go back. get to that step and then SUPER QUICK, double tapped the 2nd fob, and then quickly double tapped the original in the ignition fob as well. Then presto! My original worked and so did the 2nd one. I realized it wasn't clear in the instruction video, and I read elsewhere and some people didn't stress that enough...

    Thanks, worked for 2006 Mazda 3. However, my lock button was acting as my panic button and vice versa. Very frustrating but I finally figured out it isn't a programming issue. I had purchased replacement fobs from ebay and they installed the circuit board upside down. With a small flat head screw driver it's easy to pop open the fob and reverse the circuit board. now if I could only disable that damn panic button...

    I just bought a 2008 mazdaspeed 3. I remembered I had a keyless remote of my 2006 mazda 3. I attempted to program it but it did not work. The vehicle responded just as your video, but the remote did not work as far as opening nor closing the doors. I tested the remote battery to see if it was bad. It gave me a reading of 3.18V.
    My question to you is if it's a different FCC number between a 2006 & 2008 models. But apparently it's the same 2006 to 2009 mazda models or it's because a regular mazda 3 and a mazdaspeed 3.
    Thanks for your video it was helpful since I got to do it more with your video than just the online instructions.

    After pressing the Unlock button Twice on the key he programmed, he was suppose to do the same, meaning also to press the Unlock button TWICE on the key that is on the ignition (while it is in the ignition). Otherwise the ignition key will be deprogrammed. If it happens to you, just repeat the same steps and press Unlock button twice on both keys, first on the new key you are programming, then on the old one in the ignition. My ignition key was deprogrammed as well, and I did the above.

    Thanks for the great video, I tried this and it works of course. I want to buy another remote that I can have a new key cut for and also do this programming process myself for the new FOB. However I have been told that I will need to actually have the key programmed itself by the dealership ? Is this true or do you have a video on how to program the key itself ? Thanks and look forward to hearing back

    • @carandtruckremotes
      @carandtruckremotes  8 лет назад

      +Steve Pena Unfortunately, that is true... the key does have a chip in it. They key would have to be cut and programmed to start your car by a Mazda dealer or a Professional Automotive Locksmith. Of course, the remote part you can program just like the video here. Let me know if you have any further questions. :)

      Steve Pena
      You don't have to go to the dealer to hey the key programmed as long as you have the two Reginald keys that are already pre-programmed.
      I found these instructions on a Mazda forum- link below. I bought an extra key as I wanted a flip key for my car. I bought the key online from a dealer for $100 and they even cut it for me. All I had to do is program it. This will save you a trip and money. But remember you need to pre-programmed key to do this programming. Otherwise you will need to go to the dealer.

    Have a 2006 Mazda 6 and all of a sudden both fobs stopped working. Thought it was the battery so changed in both but still didn’t work. Used this method and it worked! Only problem is just like the video, I could only do one of the two fobs I had in the car. Tried a few times but could only do one and not the other. Is there a way around this?

    So, let me get this straight. I have a 2007 mazdaspeed 3, but i dont have one of those flip key with the keyless entry attached; Mines are seperated exactly like the 2nd one you were holding. Following this video will get me going with a flip key with keyless entry attached; just like the one in the ignition? If so, i will buy me one right now!

      sam ly Unfortunately, the "flip key" or "switchblade" type keys have different FCC ID numbers, so they will not work on your vehicle. Although the programming does work for those types of remotes, the remotes are not interchangeable with your car's ignition.

    We have an MX5 lhd, NC 3.5, 2011, we have two fobs neither seem to work, only manually opening drivers door, (but does not open passeneger door even with key,) and passenger door has no lock on outside. The indicators flash when buttons are depressed on fob but nothing happens with doors, and light on fobs are red so assume batteries are ok ! Really hope we do not need two new actuators ! Only had our new car 1 week.

    Try rebooting the car by disconnecting the car's battery for about 15 mins. Then try the programming again. There may be something wrong with the remote or the remote system. Do you get the initial response from the car?

    inserted NEW battery in my remote for '05 Mazda 6, then I did the procedures you showed. I can hear the clicking on door locks exactly as your video shows. But after all done correctly, my remote does not open nor close the door (seems dead). Do you think the remote is bad? Any opinion? thanks.

      giuseppe3010 Yes, this is usually an indication that there is something going on with the remote. Check the battery and have the remote tested for free at a local auto parts store.

    No, I am saying that, Unfortunately, the switchblade key WILL NOT work on a 2004. You can only use the separate key and remote on the 2004 Mazda 3.

    Hello. I own a Mazda 3 2004 Hatchback. The key comes with a seperate remote control for lock/unlock. Can i use your remote switchblade key? I understand that i have to cut and program the key but if i do that and follow your instructions on the video for the remote part will it work? Thank you. Greetings from Greece!!!!

    Does it need any extra features or parts installed in the car or I just need ta key to program it with my car?

  • @carandtruckremotes
    @carandtruckremotes  11 лет назад +1

    If the car is responding initially, there may be something going on with the remote. If the car does not respond to the programming procedure before you get to the remote part you may need to "reboot" the car by disconnecting the car's battery for about 15 mins and then trying the programming again.

    I have a 2010 Mazda CX-9. I have the BOTTOM of the remote key (as the top with the actual key fell off - lost). I purchased a new key and had it programmed with the ignition. So the new key starts the car - but the remote lock/unlock won't work. I tried what you said in the video several times, an it's still not working. The original lock/unlock is still working - but I want the new key to work. Please advise!!!

      +Kelly Adams you can try rebooting the keyless system by doing an electrical reset on the vehicle.To do this you would simply disconnect one of the car's battery cables for about 15-20 minutes, reconnect and then try the programming again. Sometimes this will solve any 'bugs' that may be keeping the remote from programming.
      Also, be sure to check the battery in the new remote. It might just be a bad battery.
      If neither of those works, take the remote to a local auto parts store and have them test the signal. They usually have remote testers there and will test if for you for free.

    Help!!! I bought 2 key fobs bc my old fob died and broke in half (so I've nly been using manual key access for some time now)
    I followed the steps for my 1st key fob and it works perfectly!
    HOWEVER, I can't get the 2nd key fob to program. I don't know what to do now. I've tried the steps numerous times with no result.

      The chip in the key must be programmed to start the car by a dealer or locksmith. The instructions will only program the remote portion of the key.
