Use these instructions to program the remote portion of your flip key.
1. Remove key from ignition
2. Close all doors.
3. Open drivers door.
4. Perform following steps within 24 seconds.
A. Turn ignition switch ON and back to LOCK position three times
B. Close and open drivers door three times
C. Door locks should lock and unlock automatically, if they do not wait 40 seconds and repeat procedure starting at step 1.
5. Press UNLOCK button of each keyless remote to be programmed twice, door locks should lock and unlock after each remote is programmed. If door locks do not lock and unlock proceed as follows.
A. Close and open drivers door once, door should lock and unlock twice. If door locks do not lock and unlock, start procedure over with step 3.
6. Exit vehicle and test remote(s)
Step by Step How to Program chip Instructions: must have two already programmed keys to program a third key!
Use these instructions to program the key portion of the flip key.
Key blade must by cut to operate ignition
The timing is critical to this procedure, please read through the entire procedure before attempting.
1. Insert one of the programmed transponder keys and turn the ignition to ON, leave on for at least one second (Wait until the red key symbol in the instrument cluster goes out), remove the key from the ignition.
2. Within 5 seconds insert the second programmed key and turn the ignition to ON for a least one second but no more than 5 seconds, then remove the second key.
3. Within 10 seconds insert the new key in the ignition and turn the ignition to ON, if you are successful the red key symbol will illuminate then go out in about 1 second.
If you are not successful the red key symbol will flash repeatedly to indicate that you have inserted an invalid key. Remove the key, wait one minute and try again.
For the first time in 15 years I have found a RUclips video that gets to the point and actually works. I appreciate you cutting to the chase cutting out the fluff and telling us how to do it. You did not tell us the weather forecast the traffic conditions what your grandmother had for lunch your kids report card grades or anything like that you just told us how to program the remote. I bought a 2010 mazda3 sport and was only given one physical key. No key fob whatsoever - after making sure my care had auto locks I bought a fob on amazon for $20 and followed the instructions in this video.
It took me 3 attempts but it worked! The key fob works perfectly and I didnt need any software, or an existing key fob. It iterally just worked with one physical key!!

If you have only 1 key......take the key blade off as if you were replacing the battery. You will have 2 parts now. Insert the key blade part in the ignition. Follow the steps as outlined. Use the key fob part to press unlock twice at final stage. Turn key blade part to on once more to deactivate programming mode.

If anybody's car is not entering programming mode try pushing the key into the ignition throughout the 3x ignition turning. That solved the issue for me.

I was working on 2012 Mazda 3, I followed everything but keep saying “failed” using APP. Do you think it’s the transponder chip mismatched? Th FoB works smoothly

I have a Mazda 3 (2004) and the remote just stopped working (no flashing lights eigther). I changed the battery, resolded the contacts but still nothing. The remote is working, I know cuz it's been tested, and it has signal. What can be wrong with the car? It can be a fuse problem? Lock - unlock it's working only if I turn the key, and it's very annoying. I don't know what to do! Can you help out? Thanks!

I have a 2011 Mazda 3 and I only have one key fob. The key works but the buttons do not. New battery and won’t work. I get the red light in the center of the fob when I try to lock and unlock but won’t work

MY KEYS AUTOMOTIVE yeah about that I can’t find any FFC ID on it. It’s it located under the the flip key? Mine just says Mitsubishi Electric under there which I thought was odd.

Would this style key work on an 08 speed3 5 door hatch? Just picked it up today and thought it was odd there wasn't a fob. If I can buy one of these switch keys that would be great

Found this video on a random page. I have 2 Mazda keys that have nearly stopped working. Mazda Scotland want $1000 for 2 keys. I'm away to change the batteries and do the 3 times thing hahaha. Hope it works.

I have a 2011 Mazda 6 that shut down whike driving.
There is no power to the coil pack not fuel injection.
We change three crank sensor as we thought that was the issue, but problem never solved.
Currently the car is parked as no one seem to be able to figure out the problem. It was scanned but nothing came up.
I was told the computer needs reprogramming as the lock symbol flashes and it should be ok. I did all that but nothing changed.
Could the key lost the programming and this caused the issue?

@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE I got it from Japan. The issue just first started about 3 months ago while driving, the car just shut down and I restarted the car. About a month afterit happened again and I restarted the car. Now I am not so fortunate to have it restarted after saturday 19.12.2020

Miguel Vasquez the fob yes .. the chip no!! You need a programmer.. i know the ford system you can program a third key if you have too but i dont know if mazda would work the same way.. i kno the use same chip thats why i say that.. but i highly doubt it!
@@MYKEYSAUTOMOTIVE I took apart my old fob and put all the parts in a new fob case. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why it wouldn't start. I went through the old pieces and found the chip. I put it in the new fob case and bam, started right up. I thought it was a piece of broken plastic. I would have never figured that out.

Hmmm could be a bad key.. wouldn't know what to tell you unless you check the frequency at autozone.. see if they can check the frequency on the panic and trunk button
So what’s the purpose of the chip? If I buy a new fob, get it cut, and program the remote, it would be able to unlock, lock, and start the car. What does the chip do and why is this step necessary?
no the car wont start without programming the transponder! its for the anti theft system.

Juan Rodriguez yes the autopropad can program the pontaic grandprix 2004-2008 ,doesnt support earlier models like 2000-2003

If you are having trouble programming the car for a keyless remote because the door locks will not cycle after you close and open the driver’s door 3 times:

it is probably because this car never had the Keyless Entry System option. This means that you cannot add a keyless remote to this car.
The Keyless Entry System is an optional feature. Look in the owner’s manual and note the asterisk “*” at the bottom of the page for Keyless Entry System. It says “Some models”. Not all cars have the Keyless Entry feature.
