Perfect! Short and to the point. Worked like a charm NC Miata mx-5. I used my old key in the ignition and new one in hand it was easier to see the buttons. Thank you thank you!
Thank you so much. Had to replace the shell and transfer the immobilizer, and reprogram the fob. Had to do it a few times. FYI after you close and open the doors 3 times, make sure you have all the needed keys, push the lock button 2 times (key in ignition) and the again push button 2 times on lock on and unlock buttons for keys not in the ignition for programming to happen to both with same programming for both keys. Thanks for the video.
Thanks a lot. It worked to reprogram a key after I replaced the battery and wasn’t working anymore. First shot didn’t work but 2 or 3rd worked. 2006 Mazda NC MX-5 Miata. I could tell it was doing something to the car because the door locks made a clicking noise without moving when I opened the door for the 3rd time without touching the remote. The remote actually started working before I did the last step where you press the buttons
I see a lot of questions where the chip is. It's located on the key half of the fob. Remove the mazda logo, remove the screw, separate the halves and you will see it. It's small and black. If you have to move it to a new key, cut it out carefully with a dremel and stick it your new key half.
Just be sure don't lose the little chip when you try to open the case, as long as you still have the chip, you can easily reprogram addition remote, because the chip used to send signal to the engine to fire up, if you lost it you will have to find a locksmith to get you a brand new transponder which is the little chip, it costs me 2 bills
I have a mazda 2 2006. I ordered a aftermarked remote. It doesn't have a seperate knob on the door for lock or onlock. If i pres the knob next to the "open handle"with the door open to lock it jumps straied back to unlock. If i go on with the procedure the car reacts by locking and unlocking. But pressing knobs on the remote dont do nothing. My question...does the frequency has something to do with this...i live in Europe. I see there are differend freqencys..433 and 434...will both work on the car. Think the module in the car is 433 and the new remote is 434....can that be the cause that it doesnt respond. Thank for the nice video ..
One question... I have the same car but manual shift transmission and I don't have a remote it's just a regular key so my question is... if I buy the same remote as yours will it matter if I leave the transmitter blade on the remote and use my regular key?!
This type of key has been designed for the models 2009-2013, so the replacement. I'm not aware of any models with regular key, no buttons. Some models only have open and close doors, not the trunk and horn option. If it's same design, then follow the same steps from my video.
Emil Carlover well I bought the car at a lot selling car place(2009 Mazda 6 manual shifting transmission) and it didn't came with a remote only a regular key buttonless. Do you think is possible to use the same remote you bought for your Mazda leaving the chip blade(the one you replaced) the remote has on it and use my regular key??? Sorry to bother you a lot
Emil Carlover, Thanks! I made a copy of my car key but it doesn't work. It fits the ignition but doesn't start the engine. Do I need a key fob for the car to start?
@@gigi19mai1 , Thanks. I want to make sure I understood correctly. Can I use the copied key, as long as I attach a key fob and program it? Or do I need a special key too?
@@yvetterenee8256 That's correct. You can use the copied key (as long as is copied correctly and makes the mechanism to turn by pushing little springs inside). The fob has a chip that will bypass the anti theft electronic device.
Mine worked Mazda 5 2010 (Minivan)BUT I forgot to press the trunk button and doesn't work. I attempt to do the steps and now when pressing twice the lock unlock doesn't do anything :(
I have a 2009 Mazda 6, manual transmission I just bought. However, the key does not turn once inside the ignition. Is this just my car or what else can I do?
Could be something wrong with the ignition switch. Does your key works on the driver door lock? Older cars have this future where you can not turn the key in the ignition if the steering wheel has been blocked (when moved after you stopped the engine and removed the key). Try to wiggle the steering wheel while trying to turn the key in the ignition.
You may have to get an ignition & key from scrapyard for the exact same year, otherwise the eBay key has to be cut for the ignition. If it has to be a blank key to use this method without programming then you put the new eBay key in the coil that goes around the ignition, set that under the dash and only then can you use the scrapyard key to turn the ignition or security issues. That’s an 82-bit transponder chip. FYI. This works for me but I have the SBB Key Programmer, Must upgrade to V99.09 soon to program 2011-2017 model cars Hope this helps people!
on my Mazda 2, if driver door is open, i can't lock and unlock it. Botton on door stays solid and does not move. anyone knows why please? I am not able to get to programming mode.
Keyfob eventually wears out. Try replacing battery first. Doesn’t work still, probably bad keyfob. Autozone has a keyfob tester to see if keyfob works. I bought my used keyfob on eBay, checked to see if worked at Autozone, then programmed it like in this video! $15 eBay part vs $300 new dealership part. I replaced battery anyway so I know I have a good one. Good luck
Doubt this reprogramming works. if you buy a replacement fob chances are it does not come with a controller card. You will need to swap this over along with the RFID chip (recommend reusing the casing and key with the RFID chip so you don't damage it). If you swap over everything but not the RFID the car will lock and unlock but when you try to start you won't disarm the immobiliser. I would not recommend trying to pull out the RFID chip for transplant as you could destroy it and render you key useless.
I bought a used 2010 Mazda cx7 with a broken key fob, so I manually would unlock the doors to get in, my question is, I ordered one off of amazon with the chip in a separate bag, I DO NOT know where it goes. So vI left it in the bag, I tried the instructions, and it would not work...The remote lights up, but it would not lock, or unlock the doors. So I gently pry the fop apart to see where I can place this small chip? but don't know where it goes...The old fob is useless because the previous owner dropped it so many times and had to put it together, there is no chip? in it...Can you tell me where it goes?
I bought a replacement fob and programmed but then replaced the blank key with my factory chipped key. Only an authorized dealer can replace the ignition chip with a replacement fob key chip. At factory your ignition chip is matched to chip in the key (top ignition part of the fob). This procedure only programs the lock/unlock/alarm remote. Otherwise if programming ignition key was that easy, anyone could buy a $20 replacement remote/blank key and then could steal any Mazada. Your car's ignition is matched to the ignition with two chips. You cannot just replace a key and expect this to work. So don't bother buying a blank, taking to a hardware to cut the key and think this start your car. You are only programming the remote to lock/unlock/alarm NOTHING ELSE. Also note if you go to dealer they WILL NOT RECHIP YOUR REPLACEMENT FOB. They will sell you a new on with a new chip and change out the chip in your ignition - cost: $250 and for security reasons they require your registration and proof of ID.
I recently tried to program a key for a Mazda 5 and couldn't do it. When I opened the case, there was no chip. The seller advertised the key as having chip in it, but didn't. Open both keys and compare them!
Its not the remotecontroll chip that make your car to start or not, its the Immobiliser transponder chip, witch is located inside the keypart. I dont think you can program the transponder chip by yourself.
You are correct. if you used the new plastic casing that holds the key it won't have an an RFID chip. have a look inside the original key plastic casing and you will see a small rectangular block. that is the RFID. I would recommend using that old plastic shell as you risk damaging the RFID. By all means use all the other components. As far as the reprogramming I doubt it works in my case the fob did not come with a control card under the buttons you had to swap over the card. Make sure you buy the correct fob case as there appears to be two types available look closely at the circuit card battery contacts they are quiet different.
