  • This video has been made to help you fix your Mazda Flip Key. The blade becomes wobble and it doesn't flip out anymore. Also the tab breaks that keeps the two halves together and this will also fix this problem.

    Possibly the best example of a how to video ever. When you struggled with the spring and you made that part of the video, I was sold. Thank you!

    Just wanted you to know your video is still helping people out, I ran into literally every problem you showed, no one was willing to cut my new blank so I decided to use my old key and was able to make it work, a watch pin remover helped a ton, I destroyed my old casing banking on your information and it worked out! I just want you to know I really appreciated this video.

    Like others here, I appreciate the information, the warnings and the details. I missed the transponder as well and once I saw this video, I was able to fix both the spring issue and the transponder in my wife's new key fob which I had attempted to "fix". I was resigned to take it to the dealer. Luckily I saved all the parts from the old defective key fob and the transponder was one of them. Saw your video, opened the new one again, swapped transponders and fixed the spring. The key is functional and "new" again. Sincere thanks for your time and effort.

    Thank you so much. Lowes cut my blank key blade for free!! When I tried it in my mazda it wouldn't turn the car on. However, it did turn the a/c, radio on, etc. That's when I searched online and found your video. After watching it, I realized I'd not put the transponder chip in it. I had thrown that part away. I had to pick through my wheelie bin and low and behold I finally found it. Right at the bottom of course! Anyway, I switched it over to my new shell auto fob and it worked! My car started!! Yippee!! Thanks again!!

    Appreciate the detailed video. FYI, turning the key around twice deformed 3 springs. They just would not lay flat enough for the key to close properly with that much torque. The side of the spring that went into the key would eventually become too bent to stay in the slot. I had to go with turning the key around a single time and accept a 3/4 flip with my fourth spring. Don't know if my results are typical, but wanted to share them.

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  4 года назад +1

      Hi Brad. Thanks for this. I've seen the spring deformation on other keys, just not on this one but it makes sense. Sometimes one turn eaves the spring action a bit limp, but maybe it depends on how strong the supplied spring is.
      Great comments and appreciate the feedback, hopefully it will help others ;)

    Just got my new key cut, I hoped that changing only the body would fix my broken key, then turning the new key couldn't start because of the safety magnet. I thought that it would detect some sort of magnetic field on the PCB. Thanks for showing where the magnet is :)

    Thanks for the video, I spent like 3 hours working on mine and eventually got it, thank God. The hardest part was easily getting the transponder out, as it seemed like mine was partially glued in. Ended up having to dremel away most of the plastic around it until the little scraps fell off. The replacement I got also had just the right sized hold for the pin for switching the key blade out. Thanks again for the help!

    Great video thank you for this! The same thing happened to my new spring, but I somehow managed to make it a new leg with some pliers (the old spring was gone a long time ago). I also used the whole metal part from the old key so I did not have to go through the pin thing. All the rest of your experience is very much appreciated. My key doesn't spring as efficiently as the genuine one but it's good enough still.

      Apparently they've majorly changed the design of the key fob. I ordered a new shell a few yrs ago for my 2015 CX-9 and it was a direct replacement shell.
      FF to 2023 and the ONLY thing that looks the same is the blade assembly.
      I tried to switch the blade, but could not remove the old microchip without destroying the old Shell completely.
      I was too worried that the new key Electronics would not work properly, so I did not want to completely destroy the original.
      I spent half an hour taking them apart and an hour putting them back together!
      I think what I will try to do at this point is program the new key Electronics to operate with the vehicle and if that works then I will go ahead and just have the blade cut as recommended in the video.
      The most frustrating part of the new key shell is that they did not install the microchip in it. Otherwise I probably would have started with that scenario.
      (While I had it apart I went ahead and painted the new microchip a different color and installed it in the new shell, so I won't get them confused.)
      Since I had to take the key shell apart anyway to install the chip in it, I went ahead and gave a transfer of old parts an opportunity to work.
      Live and learn.
      Best wishes on your success.

For some reason you can't find any good tutorials anywhere! I Did what you said and it worked and I didn't even know about that transponder chip. There are so many issues with this mazda car key. People rip the key apart instead of pressing the little nub which is in the side where the key sword sits. So one hast to tape the key together 😂 thanks for the tutorial I simply had to remove pocket lint from the inside to make the key slide again. Works like a charm again.

    Thanks for this information. I found a much easier way to get that spring arm slotted into the notch. Use a tiny flathead screwdriver and use it to force the spring arm into the notch so that both arms are inside. You might only have one second before the second arm pops out. So in the meantime quickly lay the key on top and hope the spring locks in place. It worked for me on first try.

    This video was done very well! Showing each step, options and possible problems. You did an excellent job! The radio frequency identification chip (RFID) is the size of a grain of rice. It is encased in glass then covered in plastic like the one shown. Or in the case of GM, they encase it in the keys plastic head cover. I would like to tell the engineers at Mazda/Ford, you guys did a beautiful job, creating a switch blade knife like key. Unfortunately it’s design is cheaper than a 50 cent Chinese watch! You welcome! I would fire each responsible for the design of this key and send you to replace roofs shingles in the desert for ten years, but unfortunately the roof would leak every time it rains.
    Very good video. Folks handy with simple tools should appreciate this class-act video.

    Jeeze, I was going crazy trying to figure out how the key was being authenticated to the car. I went through the trouble of swapping the blade into the new housing. Due to the issues with the rollpin you mentioned I had issues with that. I wasnt about to go back to the old one since the bit it pivots on was the part that broke on the original.

    i got a new replacement and got it together like a charm, with the spring being annoying until you get the hang of it.
    however with the new shell i fell the key kind of sluggish when pressing the button and it actually stops halfway through. i noticed that it was some kind of gunk in the spring when I disassemble it and I was wondering if its a kind of lubricant or something like that? because if I try to wind the spring the second time I get a noticeble gap in the shell when trying to close it and it seems the spring dont like to be wind more than once and ends up unwinding itself due to lack of space of to much tension

      @@TheCarKeyMan the aftermarket she'll might be tighter because it's newer. But it does not shoot up as the original because I notices the key has a slight blend and it not sits flush in the holder I need to scrape a bit in the key holder and around the key button to create a small gap

    so I got it to be spring loaded, but for some reason when I push the back part (the one with the slot for the logo), it doesn't spring out. I think there is some friction thing going wrong but I can't figure out what

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  9 месяцев назад

      It's tricky to know what it wrong. Is the blade central in the slot. Sometimes the blade is off centre and catches on teh side of the slot and this prevents it from flipping out
