  • The new UA for the Monk is better than the old monk. Better is good, good would be better. We compare the Monk and Rogue to see where the monk could stand to see some more love.

Great stuff. I think it's unfortunate that the way for Monk to keep up is by being locked into the nick mastery. Every time I see damage calculations using mastery it feels rough... Like it forces players into particular weapon choices.
I also will say that Rogue has significant utility outside of combat which Monk badly lacks, accounting for it's typical lack of combat power. It's a very underwhelming Monk imo.
I like the "all three idea" for ki point expenditure on step of the wind.

I don't know why they are giving the monk weapon mastery, especially now that their unarmed strikes do d6 a levels 1-4 and d8 at levels 5-10. Simple weapon weapon masteries are iffy at best with how monks use unarmed strikes better.
As far as step of the wind, a simple change would be to rewrite it to this: "You can take the Disengage action as a bonus action. If you spend 1 discipline point as part of this bonus action, you also gain the benefits of the dash action and triple your jump distance until the end of the turn." Essentially, disengage is free, but you can spend a point to also dash. It's already taking a bonus action, which is one or two unarmed strikes, so there is already a "cost" to damage output just by disengaging.
