Usually not a big fan of fantasy schemes, but this one is a beauty.the details really show.the tender is as sharp as anything I've seen
Thanks for sharing
I sure am gonna enjoy mine
Sid the builder strikes again. Not to be confused with the empire strikes back.
Sharp looking locomotive Sid!
Of note, 610-614 were originally going to be shrouded very much like the Yellow Belly's (490-494). When the Chessie was canceled, so was the shrouding.
I was skeptical it would look this nice. But, it is gorgeous!
Congratulations and have fun.
I'm glad to see that Lionel kept the large motor in the firebox. I can't tell from the video- does the new version have back-drivable gears like most of the larger Legacy locos? Thanks for posting!
Yes it does.
Excellent review. Insightful and informative. Better than just reading from the catalog and watching it run for 10-15 minutes. Best part was the comparison......always great to see what's on the inside.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Sid. After watching I had to get one. Thanks for sharing Howard G
Leta gooo more sids trains cideo 🎉
A beauty for sure....and what makes this statement valid ? It's the ear to ear grin you have when the whistle blows. A very familiar sight indeed. Well done and thanks ! 👍
My fantasy running is when I run my C&O M-1 Turbine as if it was a big success!!
All the new stuff is betond my paid grade now. My M-1 was $300 used and that's a LOT for me. Thanks for sharing
Awesome youtube channel extraordinary looking locomotive the fantasy paint scheme is cool looking very interesting I really like the prototype locomotives 🚂 Mr Sid you are a very true expert on model trains 👍🏻✨️✨️✨️✨️
Great video. I loved seeing the Greenbriar run next to the F-19.
Bad ass Sid they really did do a good job
Wow what a great looking engine! And if you wouldn’t have told us in the video I wouldn’t have noticed that the lines on the tender were paint on! Thanks for opening it up too and showing us what’s inside! Not many people will open a train up unless something is wrong.
Beautiful engine , Sounds Awesome, I have the MTH PS3 , that has a Great Sounding Whistle as Well …..Thanks for Sharing (:
Wow! Amazing paint job on that locomotive! Nice you were able to score some MTH passenger cars to match it. I think it’s perfect for a fantasy model. Lionel did a heck of a job! Thanks for sharing
Ealier this year, I purchased some passenger cars for my mth m1 engine after a 9 year search. Hoping that it matches this orange greenbrier...since I took a chance begrudgingly, because of that lionel pricing, and ordered me some orange fantasy. Will let you know if the engine and cars are a close color match when the engine arrives. Gary
Hi Sid, I’ve been a subscriber of yours for quite some time but don’t think I’ve ever commented on anything you’ve done, sorry for this.
OMG what a gorgeous looking engine and your comparison review was just as amazing!!!
It takes guts to tear a unit apart to show what you’ve shown but to you, it was probably nothing, LOL
It looked great, the passenger cars looked great and it sounded amazing too.
Thanks, Ron
Thanks Ron!!! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it.
Beautiful engine. Looks similar to a Niagara except for the color
Best review of these that I’ve seen so far. Loved the overview when you compared the Lionel and MTH models internally
Loved this man! I think this is the best fantasy scheme to date, and it looks perfect on your layout! Thanks for opening both up and showing us what's new inside! 👍
Thanks John! It sure is a stunning model.
Nice video! Thanks for sharing. Great looking engine.
Hey sid I made a Lionel OO scale Strasburg train set with 4-6-4 no 90
Great video and solid pickup on the matching cars! Looks great. Seeing the guts really helps us understand why they can’t get every new feature into every model.
Really happy I got the cars. Maybe someone else I know could get some to match theirs 😉.
@@SidsTrains I should have looked last York when all those 5 car sets were for sale! 😑
@@ChrissTrainsandThings ah yes that would have been good. Guess you will have to wait for Lionel cars or watch Trainz for some.
Awesome 😊
Would have to say this is one the best reviews I have viewed. I have opened up some engines for minor work. Sometimes we fully do not appreciate all that goes into the design and how the engine operates. Great review from start to finish. Very good detailed and comprehensive review from start to finish.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
You guys are killing me! (saw CTT review recently) I just ordered one of these this morning. It'll be my first Legacy engine (MTH guy, then again its a MTH tooling...) Hoping the orange matches my existing MTH "The Chessie" passengers. Thanks for the review, we are codependent, LOL.
So I commented before watching the entire video. Thanks for confirming that the MTH passengers match. I know the Lionel 80' will look better with flush glass but they are too expensive for me and I prefer 70'. Good look at tender as I couldn't tell in video that the sides were NOT fluted. I am now SUPER excited and can't wait till mine arrives. Will double efforts to get track laid on my layout. Question: will I be able to access almost all Legacy features with Bluetooth app? I don't have a Legacy remote.
Yes the Bluetooth app will let you access the features I showed. Whistle, bell, crew talk, etc.
Beautiful locomotive. A friend has the Chessie passenger cars with silver trucks. Odd yours has black trucks.
There is one correction to be mentioned. Locomotive 610 is the other one to have the smoke deflectors added to it. Number 610 was shopped by the C&O back in in the late 40-50’s. It also had them at one time. 610 was rebuilt with new ceramic fire brick and larger ceramic siphons and superheater installed. When if finally left the shop it was wearing the smoke deflectors. They only lasted a short time back then.
Sid tap your hands down lol cool vid though enjoyed it
Awesome review and sweet looking engine currently waiting on mine to come in! Happy training there boss!
A very informative and thoughtful review, Sid. This is the first time I've ever learned of a fantasy paint scheme that has a history. Fascinating! The orange colour featured is very impressive, more so than if Lionel had used yellow. Thanks for the deep dive into the mechanics and electronics, also. A very cool idea. Always appreciate your insights and reviews.
Thanks Tom! Glad you enjoyed it!
Cool stuff! Looks and sounds awesome! Love the double headed F19s as well.
Very cool review. I have this same engine on preorder at Charles Ro, they seem to always be the last to send out their preorders. Its great Lionel made the smoke deflectors removable. Keep up the great work.
Awesome video sid. This engine came out awesome. Wish I got one
Sid can you show what screws you removed to split it in 1/2?
Mth lists the 2016 p2 at 29 inches while lionel lists this orange engine at 21 inches. Is your mth engine 7 or 8 inches longer? Gary
Awesome engine Sid. Got a favorite brass engine?
Did Lionel build the Greenbrier in the MTH factory?
“WaRrAnTY VOidEd”
🤣🤣
Hi Sid! Great video an thanks for compareing with the MTH one. One question: the MTH version did negotiate O54. Lionel states O72. Is this due to the kinematic drawbar? Do you think it can run on O54 curves (no switches) too? Thanks in advance! Oliver
Glad you liked the video. I've run the new Lionel one on my inside loop which has some 060 curves. So I can imagine 054 would be just fine.
@@SidsTrains thank you very much and have fun with it!
I’m not sure I like the elephant ears on the front. But otherwise it is a good concept!
Nobody else would crack open a brand new $1500 Legacy engine just to see what's inside! 🤣
Where did you find the "Chessie" passenger cars??? I have an M-1 and would Love to have matching passenger cars!!!!
I found them on Trainz.com
@@SidsTrains Thanks!!!
Should have asked the other day....Do you have the item number????
20-6549
@@SidsTrains Thanks again! Really enjoy your videos and admire your skills!!!
Sid could you help me I have the c&o 490. I lost the book . Could you help me re program it.thank you Roy.
I need the new empire builder set. I need the new empire builder set. I need the new empire builder set. I need the new empire builder set.
IS MTH GONE,,.?
no
What decision? Open the trash can and throw both in. Scheer cheap plastic and no detail at all.
Wow!! You are so right! Let’s burn this unprototypical heresy! SMH………
Sarcasm….. it’s actually a fantastic engine…. Loaded with detail!!
Ironic you say this when this is an all-diecast metal model
Fail troll comment 😂
