I love winning VCR's, like you can honestly never get enough of those.
The more VCRs you have the easier it is to copy rentals from the drug store.
"BIG MONEY, BIG PRIZES, I LOVE IT!"
I'd buy that for a dollar!!!
GOOD LUCK-
@@abbyalphonse499 You'll need it
*wins a thousand vhs players* lol love this game
GO GO GO GO GO GO
I still play this regularly. One of my favorite games of all time. Loved it so much as a kid. I used to borrow it of this guy I knew, who lived near by, and cycled to his house one day to ask if I could borrow it again but got mauled by a Rottweiler dog instead. I got my left hand ripped open with two puncher wounds on my palm, thankfully no lasting damage but it never stopped me for borrowing it again. I now own the game and still get that urge to play it every month or so.
There was also a Smash TV port on the original Playstation (in a compilation called the Arcade Party Pak). This is probably the best home console version, as it's a 1 to 1 port of the arcade version. But the SNES version is also very well done and a solid port.
"I'd buy *that* for a dollar!"
Prince Goat Cheese ahahahah
Prince Goat Cheese the game (6000) SUX...
$20 actually.
That's from the movie RoboCop
@@TheJurnalyst always wanted that car.
"Big money! Big prizes! I love it!"
best simultaneous 2 player game on the SNES.
Mike Watkins Zombies Ate My Neighbours for me, but I love this too
Have you never played contra 3 or super double dragon?
On the SNES you can also plug in two controllers, hold one in each hand, and use the 1P D-pad to move and 2P D-pad to shoot for even better twin-sticking.
There was a twin stick peripheral that locked in both controllers under two joysticks.
I'm not sure what it was called or how rare it is.
It can also be done on the Genesis version.
This is a good conversion they did really well with the controls
My fave version of this is the zx spectrum
It's also good on the Williams arcade collection
My favorite arcade games ever.
It was the best twinstick shooter that I play at Galloping Ghost Arcade
Oh I love this game, my friends find it too hard but the controls are great and the action is intense. I always try and find a similar updated game.
Your friends will like dead ops
Xenocrisis this fall is coming out for the Gen! It'll be on Switch, Pc and DC also I think but lol I'm getting the Gen version.
Been playing a lot of super smash tv on the snes and its by far the best port love it
Total Carnage is one of the most underrated games of all time. It is packed to the tits with details, secrets, and extras. And the bomb mechanic was awesome, because each bomb you lay grants a split second of invincibility, allowing you to escape from impossible situations (of which there are many). My recommendation though? Play this on Mame. The arcade version is infinitely superior in every way.
I agree, loved it as a kid and bought it again when I saw it on the shelf at a used CD store.
Great to know there are Total carnage fans out there. Im obsessed with these two classics
@@WithScienceAsMySheperd This game actually plays amazingly well on a keyboard or dual stick pad. Still holds up amazingly well today.
@@WithScienceAsMySheperd I guess it all depends on what era you grew up in. When I was a kid, Smash TV and Total Carnage were big in the arcades. I do recall playing Smash TV on the SNES with a buddy though, and using the 4 buttons as a second stick worked surprisingly well.
@@Zoevandyne me and my friends used to play this everyday! so much fun
Good luck! You'll...need it!
Fun tidbit regarding the NES version of Smash TV. You could actually plug in two controllers and hold them vertically to use both D-pads the same way as the arcade controls. With a multi-tap adapter, you could use 4 controllers so that the 2nd player can use the same setup.
I used to play both of these a ton. Total Carnage at my friends house on snes and Smash TV on midway arcade treasures on the gamecube.
Clicked on the video expecting that Robocop quote - wasn''t disappointed. :D
thanks for the review
This is gold
My brother and I used to rent this a lot because of the co-ops. Always had to get at least one when you rented from Blockbuster.
“BIG MONEY! BIG PRIZES! I LOVE IT!”
Oh man i used to love this game back when i was a kid
Super Smash TV was a awesome arcade port on Snes that I enjoyed playing even I play Arcade vision at Galloping Ghost Arcade.
Great content.
I spent hours and hours "Super Smashing" this game back in the day. One of the greats.
Super Smash TV is one of the best games I've ever played. You can go on some absolute glory runs in later levels if you're in the zone. And it's legit tough to get 10 keys and make it to the Pleasure Dome. Only ever made it through with a second player when we were both playing really well. Seriously exciting gameplay.
I play lemmings on my tablet. It has a background on one level that looks exactly like how the first image of a black hole looked.
How the hell do you play this with a genesis controller, with only the 3 buttons?
This game never got old at all
I recommend playing the arcade version of Total Carnage. I think there are a number of ports for it now. The graphics are much better and it’s a blast.
I loved this game
games back then had so much variety and unique ideas. Its really missing from modern gaming IMO where most games are spins or clones of other ones.
Another good thing about this game is that if you emulate it with a modern controller, you can map the face buttons to the right stick.
Yes. The 8-BitDo ones are highly recommended. Mine looks like the SNES controller, but with additional control sticks (essentially a PS pad in SNES casing).
The NES Smash T.V. still managed to pull off a similar shooting style to the SNES if you used 2 controllers. It took some getting used to, but it still managed to make it work. SNES is definitely better by far, but both versions are worth trying.
Hmmm a sms port? Id have to get it. Was it released in the us?
Actually, you can play Smash TV in single mode with 2 controllers in the NES using only the D-pads. It makes it more easy.
Oddly enough I got my kicks with the NES port. I don't recall if I made it farther using twin controllers or the default shoot+strafe controls but I had a blast with the NES version. I suspect it was easier because all the enemies were smaller to fit into the no flicker setup they ran.
It always screwed me up with the two controllers, maybe one day I'll fuse two controllers together like some type of madman.
Just mash it up angrily with saws and duct tape like when the Nerd did that for Gryomite.
"Yeah, you see this? This is my invention. It lets you play Smash TV the way God intended."
actually on the nes you can wield two controllers like the arcade
This was also a decent game on the c64. I remember liking it as a kid
I used to love this game.
I still enjoy a run in Total Carnage ! The villians are great!
This game is a gem.
this game made you amp your reactions it was hyper fun
I remember me and a freind beating total carnage. Never could get into the pleasure domes at the end
Miss this game can i download it somewhere
hell yeah they are
What human being needs that many toasters
I like this more than the arcade version. The SNES difficulty level is more manageable.
I actually prefer SNES version over Arcade. It's one of my favorites SNES games, and the perfect port. I still play this game on Snes9x or Zsnes all the time. I'ts the right game to invite a friend to play something "new", challenging and addictive, cause a lot of people don't know about Smash TV and the two playes mode is just great. Hint: In every stage, always go down, or go right if you can not go down. When you arrive to a place with no down or right doors, find the secret room at right wall. Good luck!... You'll need it....
Get a 12 pack, this game, and a friend and guarantee you you'll have a fun night. this game is still super fun today.
These are my favorite on snes
You used the line.. you will forever be cool.
The original twin stick shooter. I love this game so much, it was the first that drove me to "get gud".
That title belongs to Robotron 2084. At least Smash TV was done by the same creator.
Super smash tv has to be the only dystopian twin stick shooter I know of
Fantastic game
Now there is only one good top-down run'n'gun left to review: Operation Logic Bomb!
+Ryuma King Does that mean there's a few bad ones to look at too?
Not that I know of. There are a decent amount of mediocre to bad side scrollers, but the SNES had it pretty good when it came to the top down ones.
You also haven't covered Firemen yet!
That game is the BOMB! Pun intended.. bought it 5 years ago and is easily one of my top 20 snes games, and that music in the first stage, DAAAAAAMN!!!!!! it's soooo good XD such a great game! I got the japanese version because it's a LOT cheaper and there is no text in the game to worry about 'cuz it's all silent movie style cut-scenes without text.. A TRUE hidden gem!! and it gets really hard at the later stages, but not impossible :)
Just wondering if the author of The Hunger Games played Smash TV in Arcade in the 90s (it is just blind guessing; I never read anything regarding a link between THG and Smash TV).
It's hard to say, but easy to imagine. Despite having been around to see it, I think Suzanne Collins did cite the post-9/11 news media as inspiration for her book, themed around a culture where violence sells; the story to the game is that mass entertainment in the not-too-distant future would adapt to man at his most violent.
Yes. YES!
I think it's one of those SNES games that is funner or just as fun with the use of a game genie.
I loved Smash TV.
ummmm, hell yeah! i still play it on my game cube.
We Played This on Coke und Speed like about 3 or 4 days almost witgout a break. . Fantastic game and This fact in Time of much better Games
I've long been of the opinion that Smash TV is the best twin stick shooter to have ever graced our planet, and it doesn't even have one stick let alone two. Every other game like it has just been a pale imitation with less charm. I remember playing the hell out of it with my uncle on the Gamecube port as a kid and having a blast. Honestly one of the best games of all time, always puts up a decent challenge, fun as hell, great setting, simple to play and its controls have stood the test of time and truly made the twin stick shooter genre what it is.
I wish Chaos Engine had the same controls as Smash TV.
I loved this game real classic
It was one of my favourite game gear game!😂😂😂
No mention of the Jaguar port.
Is this the Original Bullet Hell Type Game?
This game was so much fun,💣💣💣
Yes they are.
Big money. Big Prizes. I Love it!
This was a great game, and not even normally my style.
Don't forget "Postal"!
Ah, the classic "Evil Dead" excuse... "If blood isn't colored red, technically it's not gore."
They should have added an option to change blood color like they did in N64 shooters.
Red blood 😲
Green blood 😎
the genesis version of smash tv is total crap in every possible way
Maxim Ukhin agreed
whats the difference?
+A E
The controls. Shooting is easier on the SNES version compared to on the Genesis version.
You can use 2 controllers for 1 player on the megadrive port so you could use 2 arcade sticks just like the original. I’ve never tried it myself but I’d like to see how it compares as I love the snes game.
Ramjet164
For 1 player. That's the problem. You can only do singleplayer in that mode and you're stuck with that or the other.
LOL at "Super" Smash TV on Genesis! What's next, Smash TV 64 on Playstation?
This game is so much fun to play. I don't understand why more SNES or even Playstation games didn't copy this control scheme.
Total Carnage is definitely worth playing, but only the Arcade version. A for effort on the SNES port, but the Arcade original is just so much better in every way.
Total Carnage always struck me as a more comical take on Commando or Mercs.
reminds me of the COD black ops Zombie Arcade
Thats because dead ops was based off this
The truck killed u. U walked into a truck.
Oh Ok I spoke to soon.. Carnage has blood censored... oops
Haa!
"I'll buy That for a dollar."
Had this on SNES, played it so much i got tired of the style and still haven't tried a similar title since.🤷♂️ Are there any new'ish games like Super Smash TV worth checking out these days? i might just try a few out.👍
Xenocrisis looks good
You forgot to mention that once you beat the game, you play in turbo mode.
The more that I think about it, doom 2016 and eternal probably learned alot from this game.
Hey yeah, the constant motion and that.. Good point!
Total Carnage was fun but it was really too hard.
I bought midway arcade treasures just for smash TV lol. Surprised Nintendo didn't censor the crap out of the SNES version.. blood galore!
this game is insanely fun. Also check out Robotron 64, though this one has a tiresome soundtrack
Fuck yeah!!
better with 2 nes archers or advantages.
I personally think that Smash TV gets boring fast in single player mode. It's a bit repetitive with not much of a change in scenery or gameplay.
+David Lopez Yeah. Smash TV was a game that I spent tons of hours playing with my best friend and never alone (except maybe to get a little practice). We used to record ourselves playing this on a cassette recorder, acting as both commentary and contenders. It's cringeworthy for me to hear it now, but it's still some great memories.
We did eventually got the "true" ending, but it took us probably a year or two of on-and-off playing to get there. Scarface was always the thing that determined how far we were going to make it, and the one time we got the true ending, we lost less than two lives each.
David Lopez it's a classic Me and my buddies would do the same... I miss the 90s
is*
Super smash TV has voice acting!
You can play the game using 2 controllers turned sideways
I'll buy that for a dollar... Lol
Absolutely Smash T.V. is worth playing. I really don't understand why this game hasn't been remastered/remade. With today's software this game would be hard not to Play it.
I'll buy that for a dollar is quote from RoboCop .not the running man !!
nice robocop reference
+Strange Nova He's just quoting the game.
Jutrzen: You sure about that? :D :

Total Carnage came first.
But awesome review!
